Fucking love eldrazi thinking about building a cheap one for budget but I'm a little unsure about it. Really appreciate this eldrazi overlooks lol

just know that instead of the lands here and if u r really in a tight budget getting gates and getting the landscape cards is a good idea as well and gives you another type of wincon

I don't understand to Pongify chapter ; shouldn't we just proliferate by maintaining priority ? Who goes first ? Is it just a section to explain rule 608.2h ? Anyway, thanks for the excellent video !

Your combo doesn't work, you need specifically colorless mana while your tokens produce 1 generic mana, they're not the same.

hi, thanks for the video! i know i am 7 months late but i just built this deck and i've been having a blast with it. what i love about unesh is that you don't really need card draw in the deck since unesh and your subsequent sphinxes will act as card draw for you, therefore you only need a big ramp package to actually pop off. another thing that is crucial for me is that i use a "play-from-graveyard" package! nothing better than a fact or fiction effect that only gives the illusion of choice. among these, my biggest tech card is a card called "flash of insight". it's just absolutely insane in the deck.

I sold CK a list of cards and it was absolutely the worst experience ever and i had a $2,000 plus MTG card that they called counterfeit and basically scamed me 100% i have pictures of all the cards i sent off but the $2,000 they kept and sent me a completely different card that was stamped counterfeit. I wanna the people/person that handled my cards because this is bullshit. If anybody has any suggestions on how i should handle this the right way please let me know 12/26/2024

Great deck tech! Maybe I missed it, but in terms of the other experience counter cards, I'm surprised that Otharri, Sun's Glory wasn't mentioned, and I don't see it in the decklist either. If we already have infinite experience counters, it's literally just a win the game button!

This experience you had is why i laugh and roll my eyes when someone claims commander was better back in the day, it wasn't. Back in the day it was mostly a way to kill time between standard rounds. Pubstomping was also more rampant as some people had durdly decks and others had super broken combo decks and there were no power level conversations.
@CutShadowsАй бұрын
1:46:50 Velomachus Lorehold only works with a couple extra combat effects since most of them need to be cast during a main phase. So your build is actually the correct way for the commander to function. Love your video and gave me tons of inspiration just had to add that!
@illakunsaaАй бұрын
Maybe you are just bad at the game? You could have played more things with vigilance and vigilance adjacent effects. Vigilance is the best keyword (lifelink is second) in commander. You could also just attack and not worry about blocking. Just because you have "shields down" doesn't mean others are able or want to take advantage of it.
@CameronsVideoАй бұрын
I played commander back in the day and in my playgroup, games usually came down to things like, a creature that just could not be answered at the time (like Avacyn Angle of Hope) causing us all to get beaten to death, someone recovering quickly from a board wipe and damage racing us out, or a combo kill. Mostly combo kills. I was running Dragon Tribal grave yard with Worldgorger into things like Fireball or Prosperity. Some of the other players ran Tooth and Nail tutoring into two creature infinite. The only major differences between then and now in how the game was played for us is that the removal now is WAY more powerful and game warping. Farewell for example. And the game is WAY faster because the cards are just so powerful, yet also low to the ground in mana value. And still, the best way to play is to combo out, you just do it even faster.

A few things stood out to me about your comments, but the game being gridlocked for 3+ hours seems crazy in a 4-player game. No-one had a board wipe? No mass destruction at ALL? That was the part that didn't actually feel like old EDH. Another commenter already mentioned this, but we always approached multiplayer MTG as more like a board game. And some board games go on for 3, 4, or even 8 hours (Hello Twilight Imperium!) and noone bats an eyelid. As long as the board state is advancing and players are interacting then a 3-hour game can be a ton of fun. I have wondered whether players raised on the new high-power EDH meta, where the aim is to combo off on turn 6 every game, would see the older ways of playing as too stuff and boring, or if they would actually prefer having time to develop a board. I guess when you are used to something that's what you like and it might take a while to appreciate something different.

I started playing 2017-2018, but i remember my early days, i kinda miss longer commander, where it was more of a boredgame where we sat and chat and joked instead of watching someone combo off and win outa nowhere. But to each their own, i still play and love commander 😊
@MrCenturion13Ай бұрын
Yes, yes, blah blah 3-hours blah. But tell me... did you have fun? How long has it been since you played Casual PDH? An unmodified pre-con? You were playing a game where you had a choice - be agressive and proactive, or hunker down and outlast the others. Which one do you think looks more entertaining in a video? But you ALL hunkered down, because you wanted to win. No one wanted to stick their neck out and put on a good show. Which was the whole point of playing that game... but you ALL appear to have lost sight of that. Try again, with my words in mind. If you act like the entertainers you actually are, i think you'll not only make a more interesting video, you'll actually have more fun. In this game, as in life, no one lives forever. Playing the role, telling the story, is vastly more more important than how long you play it. As long as you are at your post when the curtain falls, all will be well. It's no different in games.

I was playing EDH in the mid 2000s. Games would end up being pretty long and usually end with someone locking everyone else out of the game. I'm talking about the red player casting apocalypse and sacrificing their own permenants to leave a suspended Greater Gargadon with 1 time counter, a Wrath of God followed by a kicked Desolation Angel, or even a Brine Elemental lock. Trying to get everyone to scoop was a lot easier than reducing everyone to 0 life. These combos and endgame were stupid but fun. IMO, unoptimized decks with goofy combos and interactions made it a lot more fun and less sweaty than current commander.

people who say a game that goes for 3 hours is inheritly bad are problematic I've yet to see a good argument for faster games being somehow better. if anything, the tug of wars that lead to longer games are the most enjoyable things to me instead of just getting roflstomped in 20 minutes where nobody could stop the endless value pile. I'd much rather play the long game than be shuffling and playing land go the first couple turns over and over yes, everyone should absolutely find their playgroup style but constantly banging the drum of "oh no I had to play a long game and I felt like being held hostage and everyone should too" is not a healthy view

Thank you. I thought I was alone. Those others act like life's experiences are something to be hurried through. I got over it when I burned out my inner munchkin in 1984.

Playing something casual with your friends that goes on forever is a lot different than watching that game and or trying to turn it into any sort of content for the channel.

It all depends on what is entailed in those 3 hours. For every 3 hour slugfest of the probability of winning swinging around wildly for all four players, stand-off situations, clutch interations... I've had three or four versions of that 3 hour game of shattered value engines, nullified game plans, people groaning as they topdeck another land or ramp piece when they have 10+ mana on hand, and arguments between just letting the game end versus the person wanting to earn that win while the one eliminated person fiddles with their phone or a pet in the place. Games can often spike in excitement and intensity around the 55-75 minute mark for my group. I'd prefer squeezing in two, maybe three of those types of games in the same space of one of those because it's a gamble on the long games: short games you can just rerack.

Me and my buddies would do budget commander decks and do seasons, Basic lands don't count towards the budget nor does the commander. And we'd do $50-$100 decks with some slow grow potential. We'd just make our lists on MTG goldfish and price it with that, and you'd see a ton of creativity. And as the season went along, we'd tack on like $25 dollar increments. You could make a few decks if you wanted, but encouraged people to submit those decklists blind, so nobody could sidebard etc. Really would get people into focusing on synergy on a budget.
@MortonFMurphyАй бұрын
Never heard of slow grow MtG but I really like this, thank you for mentioning it. I play with a very small local group and I think we would be into this. To trade, my friend lives in the 505 area code where they play $50 decks with no card costing more than $5. I'm not local but half my decks are like this and I have loved brewing each of them, they are each a favorite.

whats the point of playing commander then? if you wanna play a 100 card singleton format that doesnt need a commander to work, just play canadian highlander.

I miss getting in to Commander in 2018, playing in my brother’s garage on summer nights and cobbling together clunky decks before I knew what the heck I was doing in the format. I’ve stayed very invested in the format since then, and I’m just waiting for the itch to hit my original playgroup so we can get back in to a regular playgroup like the good old days. A man can hope
@DetroitTylerАй бұрын
It was fun because there was no EDHREC or anything really, people had to research and brew and come up with their own synergies. Commander in 2015 was amazing, was like a journey into deckbuilding unlike any other. People these days don't do a fraction of the research, and the format has become much like modern or standard net decking in many ways.
