12.5.4.1 was awful. So far 12.5.4.2 is no better, though it hasn’t driven into oncoming traffic yet. Small victory? I just select EAP and turn off every safety feature. This makes it almost as good as plain old AP with autosteer Beta. I'm not using FSD. HW3 is a forgotten promise at this point. An expected outcome from Tesla.

I use a rear view mirror that has a security camera in it and I like to have it because it's an additional feature but driving it has GPS that clocks my speed. When I get out thebcar I want it to keep running to record video and prior to this update it did it. It's very low power too. Now I'm experimenting with a small battery bank .it works but unfortunately the one I have won't let me keep it plugged in to charge from the car and run the camera. The battery bank has its own shutoff when charging or connected to a power source. For now I just have to remember to plut the battery bank in to charge every week or so. Tesla needs to go back to the way it was.

Can't do it on a MYP. Different size tires on front and back. And cross rotation left to right is not recommended.

I bought a used MY that came with FSD. I use it all the time and every release is an improvement. I just drove for hours in the rain where it degrades, and slows down quite a bit. The rest of traffic was also slower. It is (supervised), so I do take control to avoid bumps at higher speed or potholes. I do love it, but not sure that I would pay for it if it hadn’t come essentially for free on the used car.

Other manufacturers supply 7kw 120v outlet, and Tesla is taking away always-on 12v because... people abuse it and cause fire?? The outlets are all fused and you blow the fuse in the worst case. Their reason for taking it away doesn't make any sense. Tesla needs to get serious about v2l.

8:17 stuck seems more likely is due to the no left turn sign ahead. In this case, the software, with the help of vision, is having a hard time to know the differences between merging left into traffic vs left turn to merge.

Curious how your car obtained this 12.5.4.2. is it updated from 12.5.4.1 (the version when Tesla announced free trial recently) or you get this version directly once enabled FSD. For me, once started FSD trial, the vehicle firmware is pinned to the particular version at the time of FSD trail activation (so 12.5.4.1), not picking up compatible (i.e. for HW3) updates anymore. The firmware will sync up to the latest firmware only few hours when the FSD trial expires. I know HW4 has its FSD version/firmware, I'm not talking about that. Anyway, My 12.5.4.1 experience is OK and better than 12.3.6.1 but still far from what I want to click the subscribe button.

Just did my first rotation, well actually swap to snow tires, which is slightly easier I think; you can have just one corner raised at a time. A couple of comments: 1. It would help to note the clearance under the lifting puck. I make it 4.25” MAX. If shopping floor jacks, 4” min cradle height would give slight clearance. 2. It’s NOT a good idea to use a torque wrench for braking lug nuts loose. Get a separate long-handled wrench or breaker bar. Or use an impact. Doubly so with the high torque values Tesla specs (129 lb/ft for model 3).

Good video. I subscribe to FSD for a month 2 or 3 times a year to see progress for myself on my 2023 MY LR with HW3 (Austin-built). I currently have a trial of v12.5.4.1 that expires Nov 23 and I'll decide then if I want to renew for a month for the Thanksgiving holidays or just stick with Autopilot's Autosteer or TACC-only driving. For me, and the roads I drive, v12.5.4.1 is pretty good but I still have to watch it closely since it still makes critical safety mistakes. I'm just glad I didn't purchase FSD - I'd be really unhappy if I had invested in FSD when I bought my car and almost 2 years later it still requires supervision and driver correction. It's like supervising a 15-year old beginner driver. I do hope Tesla perfects it so that it's virtually flawless and no longer requires supervision.

Visualizations are definitely smoother but this release has many regressions. I just posted a video of my first drive and it had an odd agressive lane change, lane confusion, last second lane change and sun blinding is still an issue. Not loving this version.

A workaround is to get a battery pack and have it charging whilst powering the fridge. Hopefully when the car is off the battery pack would still be powering the fridge.

Tried FSD 6 times today, all were complete failures, 2 of which caused my passenger wife to have a panic attack. The Tesla performed a hard left turn ~45 degrees on a straight road, nothing in front of the car. I had to wrest control and disengage. Another time it tried to make a 90 degree turn but slowed to 2 mph and the steering wheel started stuttering back and forth very rapidly. Had to wrest control again. Hard to believe Tesla asks for $100/month for a large scale beta test. Sunny day, no clouds, perfect weather, no traffic. Bad AI Another one: I disengaged the FSD drove for a bit, and the Tesla took over the accelerator , but not the steering and started a hard acceleration. Had to disengage FSD twice for that to completely stop happening. While it was occurring, the FSD 'rainbow road' effect I'd normally see didn't occur so I was somewhat confused, especially since I controlled the steering without issue, just not the accelerator.

What a joke. You can keep that pile of junk. When I drive a trip I want to get there, not spend all day stopping to charge. I can pull over 500 miles per tank in my truck and it only takes 5 minutes to refuel.

What is going on?? FSD is not useable!! My wife refuses to ride with FSD enabled … the “phantom breaking” is horrible!! She almost got whip lash we were driving 50mph and suddenly and violently out of know where it slammed on the breaks. This happens all the time. NOT SAFE!! It seems to me to be increasingly possible that neural networks take FSD up to a high standard but it can't get it beyond a certain level. It is like whack a mole - in trying to correct obvious shortcoming new driving information sets are fed in but they cause other problems because specific problems can't be isolated. If this is the case, Tesla will have severe problems going forward from where it has got to. What other explanation is there for not being able to sort out the speed limit issues - this is so fundamental.

This is bad news :/ It was so nice to have that "offline" charging flexibility. I used it sporadically to charge my drone/DSLR batteries during longer shoots, so that I didn't have to care about powerbanks. On the other hand, there are so many stories around the internet from people having to replace their battery 2-3 times under warranty because they turned their EV's into homes on wheels. It was pretty obvious (at least for me) that Tesla was going to cut it off, one way or another.. 8 years or 120k miles warranty, so they expected you to use the battery to actually drive the car and rack up the miles, not just running all kinds of AGD stuff 24/7 from the cars battery LoL

From what I understand from other vloggers and Tesla tweets, those "Max Speed" settings are just the most the FSD will choose to go. So it still decides what speed to go (Auto Speed), but it just won't go above what you set it to. Regardless, it makes it very aggravating to use in City and on back roads.. Not the safest to be going 47 in a 55 with traffic piling up behind the car. I really hope they address that soon. 2018 M3P with 123k miles here 😬
