Amazing work. Is there any chance the game is going to be available as a tutorial series? Anytime someone searches for C++ game programming with either SDL or SFML, they're either 10 years old, or the final result game is boring as heck. We need more high quality C++ tutorials which produces high quality end products. Please!

The fitness grand pacer test is a multi stage aerobic capacity test, the progressively gets more difficult as time goes on. You will hear this noise *BEEP* every interval. Your goal is to make it to the end before the noise you will hear happens. Go back and forth between lines. You will begin when I say the word “start.” On your mark, get set, start.

make a simulation where both groups are predators, but one does more damage, but splits slower, while the other one does less damage, but splits very fast. this would encourage active competition and an interesting dynamic

I wonder if an intelligent alien species that didn’t hunt in packs when they were evolving is capable of living in societies peacefully. It makes me think maybe we need to teach AI to hunt and specifically be an endurance hunter like humans are if we want them to be capable of cooperating with humanity.

I think it would be interesting if the predator had no inherent advantage over the prey. They can't kill prey easier, and prey can kill predators just as fast. The only difference between the two is that predators must eat prey to survive. Therefore, the predators would need to evolve an advantage in their behavior.

Actually, I find the first "more random" simulation quite interesting. My bio class are far away, but it seems that you replicated a general rule of population (prey keeps growing to a max, then predator follow them accordingly until they overwhelm, so there is less prey, not enough food for predator, both declines, rinse and repeat). Also, by adding "prey defense mechanism" via your ratio of 2:4 you kind of reduce that wave. In your second simulation, I think the ratio is a bit too high (it would generally speaking mean that the prey would kill half has much than the predator does.. in the animal kingdom it would be rare/specific case). But what would be interesting would be to plot both population over time and see how it oscillates (whats the max vs low point of each population) according to the "defense ratio". Ofc, in biology its a bit more complicated since its not only 2 species 1 against the other, and the climate/region also have an impact, but still !

another thing i wanna point out is that when these big blobs of prey started forming on such a big map, there comes a concern that when a prey blob dies many many many of the predators that learnt from attacking that blob suddenly die because of the lack of prey

This is fascinating. I don't like the machine takeover of the world, but people are overreacting, asking "why teach AI to hunt?" Firstly, it doesn't understand what it's doing. Also, "hunting" is the same as any other problem solving task. He could teach them how to make sandwiches in a café and the consequences will be equally lethal.
