In the subtool menu, under "Split" use the split masked point or split unmasked points. Make sure the base mesh is masked first and it will separate the masked base mesh from the curves into different subtools

the video is old but i'm older, you can also use poly planes with a texture applied to them, which can be attached to the main model, you can control the opacity by turning transp button and turning off ghost mode. also forgot to mention that photo references have perspective distorsion, you can comppensate it in photoshop by using lens correcton filter with a proper camera preset. info about lens and camera usually stored in file metadata, if not than you should tweak the settings by eye.

You can make the strands of hair thicker by increasing the brush size by hitting the “S” and increasing the brush size. Or use the space bar and increase brush size.

For some reason, my TrimCurve is behaving exactly like SliceCurve. Once, only once, it did behave as TrimCurve is supposed to behave, but I can't get it to do that again; at other times, it was acting like SliceCurve, but also filling holes inside; but now it's not doing that either. Seems to be working exactly like SliceCurve. Any insight from anyone would be much appreciated! Ty.
@sculptZ
@sculptZ Жыл бұрын
I do find the TrimCurve is pretty buggy and will randomly behave like the SliceCurve. Make sure to cut through the entire mesh and not stop part way through. TrimCurve has trouble with this sometimes. I first try resetting my brushes when this happens (Brushes>Reset All Brushes). Then I try closing and re-opening ZBrush. If it is still giving me issues, try changing some of the hidden settings. With the TrimCurve on, hover in the canvas and hold down CTRL+SHIFT+SPACEBAR and try turning playing with these settings. If it still isn't working. I don't know what to tell you, it's finicky.

At 23:13 how come hairs go into my skull and urs sit perfectly on top
@sculptZ
@sculptZ 2 жыл бұрын
2 Things affect the hair placement. 1st, in Brush>Depth>imbed slider will determine how inset or above the mesh the hair will start. up the sider to positive 100 so it doesn't sink into skull. 2nd determines if the hair follows the background meshes contours all the time, or only when you start the hair. For the hair I like to have each strand follow the contour the whole time. to change this setting: Picker>Depth> and set it to "Const Z". To only sample the depth at the first stroke and then just use screen space flat, change it to "Once Z"

As someone who's relatively new to Z-Brush, what I'd like to hear someone who's teaching how to use certain tools to explain from the very beginning how to actually get the object you're trying to trim to ACTUALLY trim in the first place. For instance, I have "Local" turned on. My object IS a polymesh. So why isn't it being trimmed or cut when I apply the use of the trim or cutting tool? I'm very frustrated because I know that something obviously isn't turned on or "selected".
@sculptZ
@sculptZ 2 жыл бұрын
The trim curve is a bit buggy. Sometimes it will not appear to do anything. In reality, it is acting like a slice curve and creating a line in the wireframe, but not actually cutting/trimming the subtool. Try turning on the polyframe/wireframe and using the trim curve again. Did it make a line in the wireframe? Perhaps this is the case.

Question How do I singly move each hair?
@sculptZ
@sculptZ 2 жыл бұрын
You can move a single hair by masking everything else. Then use the move gizmo or move brush. However, this can be a bit tedious so I recommend changing your brush to automatically mask by polygroup so that you only move one polygroup at a time. Brush>Auto Masking> Mask by Polygroups sider to 100. This is explained around 25:00 in the video. Note that this only works on separate polygroups.If the objects are the same polygroup, you'll be able to move all within that group.

@@sculptZ Okay I get that part, but one strand of hair is only highlighted I cant move the other strands?!
@sculptZ
@sculptZ 2 жыл бұрын
@@Wakeful23 The highlighted hair is the unmasked part. If you want to switch to a different hair strand quickly, Make sure you've activated the 3D gizmo (hotkey W) hold down Ctrl+Shift and click on another strand. This will highlight a different polygroup, or unmask everything but the newly selected polygroup. Again, these must be different polygroups to work though. Polygroups>Auto Group to make any contiguous piece its own polygroup.

Yeah, it’s unfortunately not a feature of the trim brushes. Only the clip brush works with symmetry. You’ll need to do a mirror and weld afterward.

I have a question and I will be really grateful if anyone can help with this... When I try to mirror the eye to the other side of the face using mirror and weld.. It says object contains no polygons and even when I try to use just mirror, it still don't work.
@sculptZ
@sculptZ 2 жыл бұрын
My best guess is that the axis that is being mirrored on isn't correct. The default is the X axis, try switching it to Z (or even Y, though that's less likely.) There is tiny xyz letters don't he mirror and weld and mirror buttons. Turn on the Floor and see which direction you're actually trying to mirror. Sometimes the direction isn't what you'd think.

Hi how to combine it.. im d beginner
@sculptZ
@sculptZ 2 жыл бұрын
If they are all in one subtool, duplicate that subtool. On the duplicate, activate Dynamesh at a hight resolution. This will combine all anything that's intersecting. If the details are lost, you'll need to undo and increase the resolution. It is all one mesh now, you can stop here. But I recommend Zremeshing as well. Play with how many polys/resolution as well, but it doesn't need to be high. After that, subdivide the mesh a couple of times. maybe 4 or 6 depending on how low the Zremesh was. This will give you more polygons to bring back the detail. Now it's time to use the duplicate mesh from the beginning. Make only the new mesh and the hold mesh visible. Select the merged subtool and under Subtool menu, use Projection. This will capture all the detail that got lost in the process, but it will be on the combined mesh. It will also have different subdivisions. Very good for creations and speeding up workflow.
