Thanks for making this video, I was inspired by your work ethic and authenticity, the human brain is so powerful in the sense that it can copy the behaviour of others just by spending time with them and I think there was a quote that “a baby can learn a language just by surrounding themselves with others who speak that language”, in my opinion this was an excellent video and I can clearly see the progress that was made, coffee break language KZbin channel sounds interesting so thanks for sharing this, and all the best on speaking different languages.

Really enjoyed this upload. Just got rejected from dental school in Australia, 94th percentile ucat but wasn't able to make the final cut. Alhamdulillah still have a roof over my head, and considering my long term goals I don't think 1 year makes that much of a difference anyway.

Keep being a doctor !!!!you are the mentor to thousands of premed, medical students!!! I am in premed.Dont listen to some youtubers who quit medicine. You are smarter then those KZbinrs who quit. There are several well respected you tubers who quit. (they lost my respect). They tried too hard using silly programs notion, etc. They were too much organized and fell fast and quit when they got to work.Humans are biological not machines.(Im not getting into philosophy of this)I just consult the syllabus and blackboard soon brightspace.

That's an insane accomplishment! This motivates me to learn and push harder to learn French, the mother language of my girlfriend. I always have excuses like being too busy with work and at the end of the day too tired, meaning my progress is very limited. This shows I can do more about it

On the topic of “talking too much”, there is a concept which I learned from a Joe Rogan podcast that is “all of man’s problems comes from the inability to sit still in a room and do nothing for half an hour”, I think being able to embrace boredom is so important as as Dr Jordan Peterson says, “the uncontrolled tongue can send your life to hell” and “if you betray someone then you shift yourself closer to hell” and I believe Mike Tyson also says “the quietest person in a room is the strongest” which I agree with because of how tempting it is to “want to make an impact” but you should only speak when absolutely necessary as you said “the more you say, the less likely that all of what you say has value”.

A conversation tip which has worked wonders for me is, have a mindset of “I want the best for you”, because ultimately, helping others is helping yourself, and I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want to talk to someone who genuinely has their best interests at heart. This concepts relates to what David Goggins says that “a fulfilled human being would only want the best for others”.

There is a quote from Dr Jordan Peterson (well known clinical psychologist on KZbin) who says “our ability to recognise hierarchy is older than our ability to recognise trees”, and that if I was to e.g. assume the top position in a hierarchy and then I was proved wrong, then I would experience less positive emotion, which is likely to tempt me to act in a revengeful or egotistical way. The higher up along the competence hierarchy you are, the greater the ratio of positive : negative emotion you experience and hence it is true that you “want to take your place in the world”. If someone does not listen to what you have to say, then maybe it is worth “letting go of the thing that is biting you” and stop talking to them. I feel that this sort of concepts does feel taboo and insane to talk about but if there is fundamental truth to it then I hope understanding it would be useful.

I am grateful for whenever I experience the humility to accept I fall under the bad reputation category because of how painful that is to put myself there, because change is hard but worthwhile.

On the topic of providing insights which increases “contribution value” in a meeting that I recently attended, a question was asked: “I want to be famous?” To which I went to the strongly agree side of the room. My insight was that if you are famous then you will probably get more opportunities and that you would be putting yourself in a better position. Upon reflection I think what I said is true but it has a moral conflict because although David Goggins says “reputation is all you have” doing things for the right reasons is crucial, e.g. working with the intention of helping others and providing value rather than for recognition or fame, although there is a practical dilemma as by being famous you have a brand and have more potential to help others e.g. a similar effect of having more subscribers on KZbin. I believe there is nothing wrong with wanting to be successful, it is however important that the pathway to success has the minimal evil as possible, and good intentions should be always the top priority.

Upon reflection and research, I came to understand that seeking fame is sort of sinful, because it is an ego gratifying process and pride is one of the seven deadly sins, however is potential good to be influential such as being a role model or leading by example.

With the point about seeing yourself as average, I liked the idea of standing up for yourself against disrespect, and also not being arrogant (both things which I have made mistakes with) but I think that “average” is not such a good thing to aim for. Ryan Holiday on his KZbin channel Daily Stoic recently uploaded a video for 2025 new years, explaining about picking a word e.g. “sane” to aim for like a “North Star”. I want to choose the words “strong”, “sincere” and “grateful”. I think aiming for average is a bad idea because you do not have to generally put all that much effort to be average (depending on your environment that is) and that as David Goggins says “if you hold yourself to a high standard it elevates everyone else around you” a bit like you holding yourself to a high standard with these KZbin videos :)

There is also a concept from Jocko Willink that I think is useful which is that “if you focus on the roadblock you are probably going to hit the roadblock” which is why I appreciate it when my Dad says focus on “grow, grow, grow”

Just subbed 🎉 Loved the concept of "serious introspection". Quite frankly, that is what most of us are missing and failing to perform. Without introspection, there is no reflection up on one's character. And without reflection, there is no sense of right or wrong and fundamental understanding of holding yourself accountable. I love what you have done here. Will recommend your videos to my students 😅
