I am a big toyota fan and got 4 of their 4x4's. since they screw up with newer versions, I am considering an armada. Question is 2024 or 2025! iI love the V8 and simplicity in it as opposed to V6 TT on 2025 with air suspension. I keep cars for a lifetime so V8 2024 would last longer due to it been low on tech stuff and suspension. What do you think?
@Garage23
@Garage23 6 сағат бұрын
The 2024 generation seem to have a lot of electrical gremlins, particularly with the infotainment system. But other than that it's a good option. The 2025 looks very promising just with the mechanical upgrades over previous years. The turbo V6 also should be pretty solid as Nissan has had great success with the GTR, Q50RS and new Z, i still prefer a V8 in a truck but many automakers are moving to turbo 6s. The only drawback i see is the air suspension but that should be fairly simple to upgrade down the line.

Hey man!, I have an 08 with rack pinion leaking, is this brand Detroit Axle, still been good after this time? Any issues? Thanks! Thinking about buying replacement.

Yes this was the Detroit Axle brand. Been great so far, only thing I’ve noticed is the steering is a bit heavier than before. Not sure if due to rack being set up tight, or possibly new tie rods with less give. But overall very happy with it.

Wow, been a while since I've checked in, I think the prototype was just being made last time I looked. I've forgotten everything I ever looked up about lifting these things. I have two armadas now and would like to make one of them a decent trail machine. From your website it looks like the rear uppers pretty much fit everything and correct the crap camber when you lift them, but do you have an opinion on what lift components are going to work the best with the new arms?
@Garage23
@Garage23 19 күн бұрын
Hey thanks for checking in! Any suspension lift that lands you around 39” of ride height at the rear fender on 35s would probably be best as that’s what ours happens to be and that’s what they were designed around. A bit under or over is fine as I tried to allow the oem eccentric bolts to have a usable range again as opposed to just being maxed out.

Yeah there’s definitely still some things to iron out but we’ll figure it out. As for the EVT, currently it doesn’t seem worth the amount of work for a single digit gain but we’re gonna look into using a 7gen harness/ecu and see if that’s feasible.

I changed my thermostat on my 2005 350z and it is not working, the thermostat does not open and the fans turn on and do not turn off because the water does not circulate Is it because I should purge it better or is it for another reason? What is the correct way to get all the air out? thank you

It's too late to offer a solution but the way I solved the latch bracket not lining up was to use an extension piece (not sure what they're actually called) that sits between the bracket and the core support, with a longer bolt going through it. It'll allow the two holes to align perfectly with zero modification to the car or bracket. I wanted to avoid hammering the bracket as most people do and I haven't seen anybody else do it this way but it works great. If your hood isn't closing properly, lift the bracket up slightly. Went through the same thing.
@Garage23
@Garage23 Ай бұрын
Yeah it still doesn’t feel great, I got it to open and close reliably now after messing with it for a while but it definitely feels like the latch needs to come up a tiny bit higher than the mounting points allow.

Just a heads up but the screws aren't Philips, they're JIS. If you're ever finding it difficult to remove any of the million screws (as I did), grab a set of JIS screwdrivers. They can be a lifesaver on these cars, particularly with stuck, worn, or stripped screws. They can make a huge difference on some jobs and do a good job at avoiding damaging the screws further if you need to use a little force.

October 24, 2024. Had this happen to my 2020Nisdan Pathfinder. I replaced the switch today, so hopefully it's fixed. This Nissan has given nothing but problems. I had to have the ABS and AEB replaced in January. The dealership kept the car for nearly 3 months. They did provide me with a loaner. I'll stick to Toyotas.

Hey just discovered your channel! Been interested in getting an Armada. The 2025 Pro-4X looks cool but I really want the V8. How difficult is it to turn an Armada into a Patrol? Is it possible to add rear E-lockers to an Armada?
@Garage23
@Garage23 Ай бұрын
The main difference between the armada and patrol is the hbmc system and the larger front and rear differentials with lockers. The hbmc isn’t something you can really swap over but I believe some QX80s come with it. As for the diffs, it’s not too big of a deal to swap them but the main issue is getting ahold of them as shipping two very large diffs from Australia is very cost prohibitive.
@kensai77
@kensai77 Ай бұрын
@Garage23 thanks for the info! Have you done any videos comparing the Armada with the Patrol? So far your channel is the best I've found on turning an Armada into an off road beast. I've read that there are aftermarket air lockers you can install. Don't know much about those though. Thanks!!!

how did you bleed the air out of the car?
@Garage23
@Garage23 Ай бұрын
There is a small port on the passenger side heater hose near the firewall. I filled the car from there with a funnel and let it idle for a while. Then I would top it off from there every couple days.
@smashkommentiert
@smashkommentiert Ай бұрын
@@Garage23 You filled it there? Why not where the cooler is? And did you do that after it cooled of? In Idle?
@Garage23
@Garage23 Ай бұрын
After it’s cooled down. Definitely do not open that port when it’s still hot. I filled it from there because that port is higher than the radiator cap so that’s where an air pocket will form if you fill from the radiator. You can also lift the front of the car so the radiator cap is the highest point but I found it easier to just top off from the heater hose.

I’m still confused as to how you solved the negative rear camber issue caused by the OEM rear lower control arms (coil) being slightly too short. The OEM arms are approximately 19” eyelet to eyelet, whereas they need to be about 19 1/2” to allow for that proper camber alignment. It would be great to hear the answer.
@Garage23
@Garage23 2 ай бұрын
Negative camber is not the issue. Raising the ride height through the suspension produces positive camber and thus requires a shorter upper control arm (available at garage23.net)I think you may be referring to the spring bucket, which controls toe adjustment. Lengthening this primarily allows for increased toe-in adjustment.
@raymondfournier4104
@raymondfournier4104 Ай бұрын
Well, I have a 3” lifted Armada that does have a positive camber as you said (top of tires tilted outboard slightly). But the answer to that cannot be shorter lower control arms as that would make the tires even that much more positive (too if tire tilting outboard). Regardless, I think I’ve found a company that has the control arms needed to correct the issue
@Garage23
@Garage23 Ай бұрын
It’s not the lower control arm that needs to be shortened, it’s the UPPER control arm, which is what we make and this corrects the positive camber.
@raymondfournier4104
@raymondfournier4104 2 ай бұрын
How did you resolve the OEM rear lower control arm length issue? With the much beefier rear coils the OEM lowers will not allow proper rear end alignment. Did you subsequently install extended length lowers? If so, what brand?

Awesome job with this video and your channel. You really should have a bigger following. Maybe you need the added dynamic of a friend working with you to liven up the videos a little more as far as holding people's attention to more than one video here or there for informational purposes. Keeping people around for the fun entertainment, engagement, and also information. But the editing and walkthrough/commentary and such is great.

🙏🏻 we really appreciate that! We do occasionally have friends help out when it’s pertinent to the project but for the most part prefer to work alone since everyone has a lot of thing going on in daily life and it’s hard to coordinate time together and it just ends up delaying things too long. But I know what you mean, there is much more goofing around in those videos which can be more entertaining on top of the informational value.

Hello Garage23, Thank you both for posting such a detailed & helpful video. My 2017 Titan had this intermittent issue and after replacing the battery it was still doing the same thing. ( I was away working so I didn't have time to try and diagnose the issue). After I returned to the hotel that night I got chance to search the interwebs. A lot of the Nissan forums showed this to be the culprit. And, that this is a Nissan wide issue - from Jukes to Titans and everything in between, I think it was a Renault issue as well since they used the same Panasonic switch. Mine was the prong type and I just spread them out a bit and it started several times for me so far - time will tell. Thanks again for the time and effort I hope this helps other people out as well. All the best, Peter
