Why change your fingers to suit te guitar. Surely it is better to know what you need and buy a guitar with a wider fretboard. All my flat tops are 12fretters pre 1934 designs.

Hi, Thomas, I’ve been playing for years however I could never play bar chords and still can’t as my fingers are short and it’s hard for me to put my finger across all of the strings. Do you have any tips for that.

A few things that have helped me stay on the path. #1 I wake up early to practice everyday #2 I lowered my expectations #3 I focus on the work not the results #4 I found what I love. Harmony! #5 I focus on fundamentals #6 I only play the stuff I like #7 Regardless of how I feel, everyday I spend a couple minutes finding the notes on the fretboard, and playing the major scale, MINIMUM! No matter what I have going on I can find 5 minutes to do this. This usually leads to my obsession kicking in and I leap right into a full session

Hello how you are doing? question I'm 65 years old. Retire and always wanted to play a guitar. I been playing around two years now. basically learning on my own. My question I'm still having a tough time especially the C Chrod no matter how I place my fingers and adjust them I still hit the bottom strings. Thought about changes strings from the low E to a 7 its a 10 whats your thoughts thanks

I honestly hope this is my issue, I'm using my friends classic guitar to learn but I just feel there's something wrong with me when I just cant seem to not touch two strings when figuring out these cords, especially when videos just tell me to adjust my fingers.. because then at that point my fingers aren't even comfortable..

I’ve asked this question to other guitar podcasters, but have yet to get a response, so maybe you might: I’m fortunate enough to have a “collection” of several guitars, both accoustic and electric. Here is my question: is it more beneficial to practice on the same guitar every day, or a different one every day? My opinion has been if you practice on different guitars, you’ll be more prepared to play on any guitar someone hands you, and not just the one you practice on. Anyone have any thoughts?

As a beginner, I have rewound the first tuning instruction (the E?) like 6 times and I still have no fricking clue what you're talking about. You day let's forget about the E right now and then you precede to talk about the low E, high E. Hold this string down, that string down, (what string I don't know, where to hold it down I don't know, you say the 5th fret but where on the 5th fret) I had better results tuning just trying to match the note on other videos just simply playing the note.

What helped me was buying a decent Blue ridge acoustic guitar and also a nylon strung Spanish guitar plus a child’s 3/4 size classical guitar. Playing in the dark was a revelation. Thinking about what you are doing does not help. You actually need to play without thinking. The best advice I can give is “leave your guitar out on a stand” you will learn quicker.

I use more than just this. I often include a tuning fork and listen to beating between the sounded A string and the ringing tuning fork; and adjust until the beating is gone. I then use both unison between neighboring strings (fifth fret or fourth fret as suited), and harmonics, and recheck with one or two or three basic chords. I have never used nor possessed an electronic tuner.
