Disassembly, maintenance, and repair videos made by the company are very much appreciated! While I'm still working to get the bottom burr out of my Baratza Encore, this video gives me a good sense the order of operation, what's still down there, and confidence that I'm not about to snap something off. Thank you!

We just bought this and used it for the first time - the quick release knob is stuck! What do we do!?

Big NOPE from me, plus my 2 cents as a Baratza fan: - Room temperature water and three minutes, even with agitation, WILL NOT extract enough from the coffee to deliver the rich, sweet flavors of cold brew. - If you’re adding it to that much ice, why not just use hot water and make a proper iced Americano? Otherwise, the concentration will be way too low, leaving you with watery coffee - or rather "coffee-y water". - That said, the inverted AeroPress might work better for this-you can avoid coffee sticking to the top during pressing and skip the hissing/pushing out particles much easily.

lol, how is it possible to grind coffee to 17 and get this result. I set it to 8-10 and still the water flows through the portafilter so fast. I putted 11 gr, medium roasted. I use delngohi dedica with bottomless portafilter

In this video, you lift the ring burr out so easily, but mine is always kind of stuck in there and needs some serious finnagling. Is something broken with mine? Or is this kind of normal?
@Nickless199214 күн бұрын
Got that middle tier Sette 270, since I love zero retention and precise adjustment options, while using it for single dosing (I do start the grinder first at 10.0s, then insert pre-weighed beans). My findings tho: - 270 > 30 due to micro adjustment, but keep an eye on that lower wheel will start moving (towards coarser of course) at some point in time - get a replacement felt ring to increase friction again. - motor might just break after a few years (2-5 shots/day), but replacement is pretty affordable (80€?) and super easy - built-in scales? nice innovation, but not my use case.

I just got a second hand one. When I tried grinding at the lowest setting the beans just bounced around and didn't get ground. Turning it up 3 notches made it work I think. Is that normal or fixable?.. I don't use espresso but if it's easy to fix then may as well do it... I think I can hear the burrs touching each other around mark 5 - that's not good - how do I fix that?..
@Lloyd.B.24 күн бұрын
Fixed it after doing checks Baratza said to do, and accidently putting the calibration screw about 1mm to the left of where it was before, when taking it apart.

Gah, after I put mine back together, I tore up the rubber gasket. So, I ordered a replacement from eBay not knowing it was a different size than the one for the ESP. It didn't fit at all! When I went to Baratza's website, they said the one I needed was out of stock. I found a vendor in Canada (I live in the USA), and the shipping costs to get the correct part were ridiculous, but I bit the bullet and paid for it. So, buyer beware when it comes to the rubber gasket. And be sure to install it in the correct direction so you don't mangle it like I did.

It's not a gasket! A gasket fits between two static parts - they don't move relative to each other. It's a seal. Seals are for parts that move relative to each other, like a bean hopper and an upper burr holder!

This might be a stupid question as I'm new to coffee brewing. As far as I researched there are specific filters used for regular filter coffee machines, for V60, and for Chemex. Please correct me if I'm wrong. If it's correct what type of filter should I be using for the Japanese Drip coffee? Porous, less porous, ceramic, etc.? Thank you!

For my dark roast beans, I set 18, the espresso seemed slow, and there was some water left on portafilter, so I changed to 19, and it was like mixing regular black with lot of milk, yuck, so it seems like 18 is the right setting, any idea why changing to 19 gave me water instead?
@DaeceJ4 ай бұрын
Happy to be wrong as I'm pretty new to this and still dialing my ESP in... One click in the espresso range is about 20 microns so there should only be minor changes in flow rate, between clicks. It's possible some other variable impacted things (Tamp pressure, dose size etc.)
@indulgentquagmire4 ай бұрын
@@DaeceJ I think maybe I used Tamp pressure a bit too strong.. Also this is a 51mm filter, dunno if I have to calibrate this different, I've gone back to 18, while I try debugging it. The espresso still tastes good at 18, just that I'm probably losing like 3ml of water.

Good mill, but it has a weak point, and that is the grindstone holder, it has three little ears that even if you drop it on the kitchen counter, they break, they should improve that piece.
@game_channel1998Ай бұрын
grindstone holder, what is it?
@BaratzaАй бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! The ring burr holder is designed to break to protect the more expensive internal parts, like the burr itself! Sometimes small pebbles or un-roasted beans can sneak into those whole bean bags.

When I turn the quick release knob, it just spins and won't come off. What am I doing wrong (or is the knob bad and need to be replaced)?
@mikebrookfield20965 ай бұрын
Took me a second too. Because of how the grinder spins, the quick-release knob is left-hand threaded. The knob will come off when you twist it clockwise and tighten when you turn it counter-clockwise.
