Disassembly, maintenance, and repair videos made by the company are very much appreciated! While I'm still working to get the bottom burr out of my Baratza Encore, this video gives me a good sense the order of operation, what's still down there, and confidence that I'm not about to snap something off. Thank you!

Any alternatives to the felt shim. Dosnt seem v robust.

In the case of a clog, I found that a small allen wrench worked best. Go in from the front underneath and angle it up to punch out the clog. This is a wonderful grinder but it has a glaring design flaw. This should be easier to unclog given how frequently it happens.

To Baratza Support - I have an ESP with one of the spacer washers on top of the lower burr. I am able to remove the hopper, gasket, upper burr and lower burr retaining knob just fine, but I cannot get the lower burr to budge. In every video I've seen, it lifts out easily with no threading or effort, but mine is stuck tight. I don't want to try using pliers to dislodge it, and don't happen to have a right-angle dental tool lying around. Any idea why it is stuck, and what to do to release it?

Hey, at 2 minutes, I can see 6 shims. On my machine, I only have 3 shims. Should I add the shims that I have received with the instruction bag?
@flaco2222 Жыл бұрын
My bad, 3 of them where stick together 👍

How can I install the shims ?
@breakdown7553 Жыл бұрын
Is it in theory also possible to remove one or two of the shims from the stock setting, let's say in case the steps are too fine?
@breakdown7553 Жыл бұрын
Me answering to myself: Did it, works fine. I only removed one of the smaller shims. There are 3 thicker, and 3 thinner. I removed a thinner one. The scale just gets all across the board more coarse then. But I put it back in nevertheless, cause I figured I don't need it. I though it would be cool for my pour overs, to basically push the fine 20 steps more into the coarse range, to have in the medium fine range more steps for the perfect pour over grind size (i grind relatively fine for one cup pour overs). But I ended up finding my range, with one shim removed, around setting 11 or 12. So I thought, well, that is just around 18 with all six shims installed. So I put it back in. But it worked fine!

I insert the additional shims rings but the setting of grinder is still the same

Sometimes it gets stuck to the bottom of the plastic hopper and it looks like one part… it took me way too long to realize this.. having a panic attack for 3 hours early in the morning.. searched all my trash.. it was rough

The paddle wheel doesn’t lock on top of the paddle wheel pegs, what should i do?
@dMGraymusic3 ай бұрын
I had the same problem and realised the paddle wheel was a bit misshapen... Although maybe accidentally putting it back in upside-down and then trying to grind didn't help. Either way, if yours isn't locking on then check it. I had a look and it's cheap and easy enough to get a replacement, sort of.

The so called quick release knob doesn't open at all when you to clean out the bottom burr 2 weeks in its just tightened up on its own due to the fine espresso grounds Does the job but man it's a pain to clean this device through and through They need to reconsider and re design this to actually be serviceable

it's a reverse thread. clockwise to loosen
@bookernoel647110 ай бұрын
It can be pretty difficult to dislodge it the first time you try. Try bracing the lower burr with a finger while turning the knob clockwise - eventually you'll feel it slip and it will then unscrew completely.

I have this problem too. Unfortunately as I tried to loosen it, I broke the treaded bolt it screws on too. Machine pretty much done for since I don't see a way to repair it. 😢

So I assemble and proceed to grind aobut a cup of decaf beans. Then I go back to do the same with regular beans and presto-nothing comes out! I assume it is clogged but not in the upper mechanism as I took that out, & cleaned it I will follow the video and I assume that will cure the issue, but, after less than 2 cups of beans? This unit costs $150 and it cannot get past a cup of beans.... I want to order a replacemnt gasket, felt washer and the plasitc paddlewheel as they look ike the pieces that will fail. I hope I just had bad batches of beans else this unit will be going back. Good video!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! So i cannot remove the center cone burr--even after I removed the wing nut! It will not pull up. This unit is looking to be a not so good product and gettting phone help is impossible. This video is all I have and it just appears the unit should just lift off easily. I will produce anothe rsupport incident and if that does not work the unit will be returned.

This is definitely the weak part of this design- cleaning it! It is a beautiful grinder but unforgiving if you make the mistake of filling it too full - my mistake

How come in these videos everything is easy to take apart. Didn't work and have to send this unit back in AGAIN. Grrrrrr.
