I have a Katana 100 Mk2 head and 212 cabinet. I have it set up like this.... using FX Floorboard instead of Boss Tone Studio, I set the signal chain up so that the effects loop send and return are after the preamp and EQ but before the onboard effects. (Don't get me wrong, I still use Boss Tone Studio for other stuff, but Floorboard lets me arrange the signal chain any way I want. Tone Studio is a bit limited on this). My pedal board gets plugged into the effects loop return so it by-passes the Katana preamp and EQ but still uses the onboard effects. I have the GA-FC footswitch on my pedal board to control those effects. All of my preamps and EQ are on the pedal board. This brings me to my first question. I can control the onboard effects with the GA-FC footswitch... somewhat. I can turn the MOD or FX or BOOST effect on and off. But I have three different effects programmed into each of those effects channels. Like on the MOD channel, I have a chorus, a phaser and a flanger. on the FX channel I have a tremolo, a vibrato and a harmonist. My question is this... is there any way to switch between these individual effects using the footswitch, or can it only be done with the extremely non-ergonomic little button on the amp? I plan on adding one of the expression pedals so I can do a wah or volume or adjust delay. But it would be so great if I could do say, a long press on the button to switch between each effect, instead of having to fumble around with the tiny, hard to find button. Did I mention that those buttons are very non-ergonomic? My second question has to do with the onboard noise suppression. I have it in the chain but whenever I turn it on, I can get no signal through it at all, no matter where I have the threshold and release set at. If it is active, I get nothing through it at all. What am I doing wrong? This happens whenever I use the noise suppression in FX Floorboard. I have not, as of yet, tried it in Boss Tone Studio. One other question if I may. I noticed that there are a couple places in Boss Tone Studio and FX Floorboard where certain levels can be adjusted... the send and return levels, the output of the preamp, the output of the EQ's. As I said, I have the output of my pedal board going into the effects loop return so it goes through the onboard effects and then into the main power amp. For my looper, I take the line out of the Katana to the input of the looper and then I take the output of the looper into the aux input of the Katana. This way I can still hear the looper through the amp and I can play the guitar into the looper to record a loop with it, but the output of the looper doesn't go through any of the onboard effects. The problem I have is that with this setup, the audio level of whatever is playing out of the looper is pretty low. So much so that the guitar usually drowns it out. When I first got this looper, I had it plugged directly into the amp like all the other effects instead of going into the aux input and the audio level was fine. Now that it's going into the aux input, I can't hardly hear the thing. This aux input is supposed to be so you can plug a MP3 player or whatever into the amp and you can hear it through the amp and play along with it. I figured a looper pedal would kind of be the same thing. So, my question is... is there a way to adjust the level of the aux input to get the output of the looper pedal at a similar level to the guitar audio? I have the dB level and the volume level of the looper maxed out but it's still much lower than the guitar. What can I do about this?

Boss devices sound so thin like sound is coming from far far away. The sounds are not present at all. Is it because whole bunch of overtones are missing in each notes. Like there in no high end and low ends or even mid range at all. People call it compressed sound but i dont understand if compressed sound sound like this.

The majority of the QC’s MIDI CC messages (e.g. those which toggle footswitch state, etc.) fall between the range of 32-63, which the MIDI spec reserves as the LSB of MIDI CC’s 1-31 to facilitate 14-bit values (for smoother continuous controls). and are therefore not Quad Cortex compatible.

BOSS GT-1000 CORE IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - ASSIGN SETTING - SOURCE: The DOWN and UP values must be divided into: MEMORY DOWN, MEMORY UP, MANUAL DOWN, MANUAL UP Currently, when assigning a function to the DOWN or UP controller, this function is assigned in both modes: in MEMORY and MANUAL, which takes away the ability to use the processor in pedalboard mode with 5 controllers (MEMORY + MANUAL) without using external controllers 2. CTRL1 should be divided into MEMORY CTR1 and MANUAL CTRL1, thereby expanding the control capabilities of the device. If you want to leave CRTL1 unchanged when changing the mode from MEMORY to MANUAL, you can simply assign the same functions to it in both modes 3. MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - CONTROL FUNCTION: Add PATCH # That is, add the ability to assign a specific patch to a specific footswitch. Now this can only be done on a MIDI controller. On footswitches (DOWN, UP, CTRL1, CTRL2, CTRL3, CTRL4, CTRL5) you can only select scrolling through presets, and this is not very convenient 4. MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - CONTROL FUNCTION: Add REVERB TRIG The REVERB block in TYPE has a wonderful TERA ECO reverb. It has a very cool TRIGGER function, but it is missing in CONTROL FUNCTION. Therefore, this function can be assigned to the footswitch only through ASSIGN SETTING, and this type of assignment does not work correctly (see point 1) 5. Using GT-1000 CORE as a CAB simulator and IR-pulse player when using an external preamp in the loop In order to use an external preamp, you need to turn off the AMP slot, but now, when you turn off this slot, both native cabinets and user IR-pulses are turned off, which greatly limits the use of GT-1000 CORE as a pedalboard base 6. IR-LOADER When loading third-party user IR-pulses during conversion, their frequency characteristics change greatly and they become unlike the originals. This is most clearly heard when using HIGH-GAIN amplifiers. Therefore, it is impossible to use your favorite IR impulses, because they sound different 7. Turning off TUNER by pressing any footswitch Currently, you can only exit TUNER by simultaneously pressing the DOWN+UP footswitch combination. This is not at all convenient in a live game, since you can miss and instead of turning off the tuner, turn on some effect or even switch a preset without seeing it, since at this moment neither presets nor effects are displayed on the screen. It is necessary to implement the switch-off of the tuner, as it is done on most processors, by pressing any footswitch 8. Improve GLOBAL TEMPO Sometimes when browsing presets (even if the TEMPO HOLD function is enabled in all presets), the tempo still sometimes gets lost LESS IMPORTANT NOTES: 9. 1-5 KNOBS - TUNER - on/OFF When assigning the TUNER function to any of the 5 buttons, this button only turns on the tuner, but does not turn it off. And the tuner can only be turned off by pressing the DOWN+UP footswitch combination (see point 7) 10. Calibration of the EXP1 and EXP2 expression pedals It is necessary to add a calibration function to be able to use not only BOSS pedals, but also pedals from other companies, since everyone has different technical and ergonomic preferences WISHES: 11. 1-5 KNOBS - METRO - ON/OFF Add the ability to assign the metronome on/off to 1-5 KNOBS for more convenient use without having to go into the menu and not occupy footswitches with this function 12. REVERB and DELAY 1-4 tails when switching presets Fix/improve the situation with saving tails when switching presets. At the moment, tails are saved only if the following settings are provided in both presets: a) In both presets, the sequence and position of absolutely ALL blocks of the chain, including effects, even loops and signal splitters, must be the same b) In both presets, the types of both amplifiers (PREAMP 1 and PREAMP 2) must be the same c) In both presets, the type of reverb (REVERB TYPE) must be the same A logical question arises: Why then do we need 2 different presets if EVERYTHING is the same in them? In fact, tails are present only in one block - MASTER DELAY 13. Replace the DELAY 1-4 blocks with one block, similar to the MASTER DELAY block, and call them DELAY 1 and DELAY 2. This will be much more useful 14. Add the REVERB 2 block. It is simply necessary because when switching presets, the reverb tails are saved only if the TYPE REVERB is the same. Therefore, you either have to use the same REVERB (although on one preset you want to turn on, for example, HALL, and on another TERA ECO), or listen to ugly cutting of beautiful tails. I understand that the load on the DSP will increase and therefore I suggest taking the following measures: a) Delete the EQ3 and EQ4 blocks. It is unlikely that anyone uses 4 equalizers. Two are quite enough. The only thing that can be done is to add 1-2 control bands in the PARAMETRIC equalizer type b) Delete the CHORUS block. The CHORUS effect is present in the FX1, FX2 and FX3 blocks, this is quite enough. And besides, the CHORUS block has fewer TYPE options for this effect c) I understand that some TYPE REVERB options consume more DSP, others less. Accordingly, installing 2 TERA ECO at once will significantly load the DSP. Therefore, I propose to divide all types of TYPE into REVERB 1 and REVERB 2, that is, to define more capacious ones in one block (REVERB 1), and less capacious ones in another (REVERB 2), in order to eliminate the possibility of overloading the DSP (The same, if necessary, can be done with the DELAY blocks)
