We have this now in Canada. Having been born here I can not even move outside away from the city because of the costs. We have immigration and investment of empty properties that have driven prices so high, my grocery store in walking distance is double the price of grocery stores in driving distance. I do not own a car. Yes we have water. I feel for these people who are managing with the greed of many.

The problem with this is that Puerto Ricans aren’t capable of building a thriving society. So developers want to take abandon buildings and make them into nice apartments. What’s wrong with that? She’s acting like it’s wrong to want to make money. What ate Puerto Ricans doing with the buildings? Nothing.

So the problem is not gringos bad, the problem is a corrupt government who doesn’t care about locals and make the interest of big companies only.

They make $15 a day thats a lot more than many many countries. Blame the corrupt governments that don't take care of their people and people for not banding together and doing anything about it.

I saw something similar in '16 when I visited Mexico City, and the following year while visiting Tulum. I went with a certain mentality from what I had seen on social media primarily, but left with a more sour taste with how the locals are treated. Makes me not want to travel abroad, unfortunately.
