Maybe because most of the time you have a wig or weave on/in your hair??? That might possibly (probably) be the reason someone would SUGGEST it’s not your hair. Because usually it’s not. Yeah, that could be the answer. And besides, no one is “forcing” anyone to show their hair unless they in a prison or something. 😮

I have also had men and women snatch at my real hair thinking it was fake, Also once when I straightened my hair in middle school I was cornered and accused of being "mixed and denying it" because my hair was too long and thick. I am an unambiguous black woman from the Caribbean. Having my hair suddenly pulled is painful. it is disturbing how obsessed strangers are with us

I'll never understand why people aim to be like celebrities and "influencers" so much when they don't even like themselves! Look at all the constant surgeries, constant nakedness, hella makeup and hella hair all the time, it's crazy and unnecessary

It’s supposedly been illegal all along not to know how to do all types of hair. When I was doing my doctoral research, I ran across an article on this subject related to why Black women may need to look at the availability of hair care more carefully than other women when applying to colleges and seeking employment. Otherwise they too often find that the only way to have their hair care needs met is to travel very long and expensive distances to stylists who specialize in Black hair care.

It’s not that hard to understand. Black women wear wigs and weaves more often than their own hair. Black women prioritize the health of the WIG over their own hair. so when someone sees long hair, they’re going to be skeptical. Black women should wear their hair more often.

My hair looks like the girl at 2:22. Did my silk press a few days ago and then did rollers last night. We shouldn't have to prove any of this to anyone, especially our own kind. My hairs 3C, i had this black woman say,' that must have taken forever' as if i did like the pencil sized curls one by one. She had a relaxed pixie cut and was like 15 years older so i get it, but i was like no this is a wash and go...

I learned my lesson. I am never going to a Dominican salon ever again. they used way too much heat and I never expected the extent of damage my natural hair endured. I rarely straighten my hair (about 3 times a year) and decided to try this Dominican salon nearby. man do i regret it.... my curls are much looser, flimsy and lifeless. not too mention the extensive heat damage. some pieces are just plain straight. it's so ugly i am going to have to cut a lot off. I am so so sad. If you're thinking about it this is YOUR SIGN. DON'T DO IT.!! i wish I had did some research before I walked into that shop.

I was on the an I heard a bunch of black boys say we are going to start a fight by ripping off some bodys wig so me knowing I did not have a wig I sat on the bus when they were about to get off the bus they stood by me and as they ran off the bus one of them grabbed my hair and yanked my head so hard and I screamed he said oh shit thats her real hair and started laughing the bus driver stoped the bus and came to comfont me and asked did I want him to call the police .Black girls jumped on two of my cousins and cut their hair off because they said my cousins think they cute I have had black girls tell me and my sisters our hair is not real because black girls cant grow long hair or have good hair. My mother said black girls and black boys were the only people who hated on her when she was little for having long good hair and they were the only ones hating om my sisters and my self and family too so sad I could tell u stories but It would take to long.

It is sad that someone who is not black has to explain this. My friend kept going through this with an old hairdresser. She's natural, and her hair wasn't getting any longer. I think stylists are caught up on the chopped even choices.

I’m black with waist length hair. BM are always saying take the weave out. Once a BM with a WW asked if my hair is real. I just said “what kind of question is that?” and rolled my eyes.

To me, the problem is that we need to review the difference between enhancement and transformation… Even metamorphosis. Enhancing is taking what you have and making it look the best that it can. Transformation is going into another area somebody else’s yard and claiming it as your own. People barely resemble themselves after they put on their 20 layers and make up and 5 tons of hair. I can’t imagine feeling good about myself when I feel so “” beautiful“ with all that armor on. Yeah you look flawless… but not much like YOU. And that’s the saddest part.

Asking people about their hair is weird. All races and ethnicities ask me if my hair is real, and it gives insecure and an odd pointless question to ask

Why are people being concerned about if someone has real hair? I have shoulder-length wavy hair, and I sometimes wear wigs or extensions. I'll straighten or curl my hair. I personally don't care if someone wants to do different things with their hair! When I see someone with a style I like, I say I love the hairstyle, and it looks pretty. Never would I ask someone if their hair is real.

If you look up long hair on social media, you learn real quick that people with straighter hair is trying to grow long healthy hair too. Any woman that can grow long hair is seen as exotic. Hair care today is not the same compared to many years ago. During the Victorian period you can find pictures of black and white women with long or longer hair. They even put their hair in protective styles and covered it up at night.

Not sure why some Black women feel they need to prove their hair is real when they dont have to prove anything to anybody. White ppl who feel it is their right to assult/question Black women or criticize us about anything have been brainwashed to think they are flawless. THEY ARE NOT!!!! If Black ppl asked them why they look like Shar Peis at 23, or why they dont stay tanned bc color is better every time we saw them, they would hate it.

Beauty culture is so toxic to women. Women in the 1800’s would die from using lead powder on their faces. Baby powder has caused ovarian cancer when women used in their underwear. Makeup can still contain lead. When is it going to end? We all need to ignore social media & use vegan makeup

For me I returned the revair after using it once. I felt it made my hair feel dry and brittle. I was hesitant because everyone is hyping it up and I thought is it something I’m doing wrong. I moisturize my hair like also but my hair did not feel right. Yes it got it straight but if I’m being honest my blower gets my hair straight to and I have never experienced hardness of my hair from a blow dryer. I just followed my gut and decided to return it. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this and doubting themselves because everyone hyped this up but I’m here saying I dont think it’s worth it.

12:24 I believe it is rare to see black women with really long hair, not that we can’t grow that length. Many just give up on their routines, don’t know how to retain length, or rather do styles they like despite how it’ll effect their hair health. Tbh it’s the same with American white women nowadays. Granted it’s more common to see an average white women with hair down her back, but I think it’s just ask common to see a white women with fried hair as well
