The shortsightedness of the root cause for pitchers’ climbing UCL injury rate is just amazing. I am an Orioles fan, this regular season alone, they have 4 pitchers - three starters - going down for UCL injuries, one of them will go through a TJ surgery for the SECOND time in his career (John Means). Sooner or later, MLB will have to confront the pitchers UCL injuries head-on, but they would rather ignore it as long as they can.

Please explain to me how the Astros are in a downfall when they’ve won 6-straight, which includes sweeping the O’s whom haven’t been swept since May 2022. Astros were 10 GB of Seattle on 6/18, now only 4.5 GB. We literally have an entire World Series winning starting rotation on the IL, but that won’t phase the most experienced post season team in the MLB since ‘17.

The Yankees at #1 surprise? They perennially have one of the highest payrolls in the MLB. Cleveland has best record in baseball - but keep talking about the Phillies, O’s, Yankees, Dodgers.

Dunno about KC they have been reeling 8-18 but get it. The top 3 teams in AL central but Milwaukee is mine. They were suppose to do less then zero. Problem is AL/NL teams do nothing in playoffs seems every year. Disappointing most baseball in general cause offense is not good for most part. They had to mess with the balls. Manfred the genius of geniuses

As a Phillies fan they still have to play every division leader plus Braves 13 more times. I need to see Phillies start winning some road series. They have been struggling on road. Lost last 4 road series. Season has been incredible but for the love of god please win the WS this year.

Amazingly no. Because the Seattle Mariners have not pulled away from the division as much as they could have. And the Astros are still in play for the last wildcard. But probably the division is their best hope. Sounds incredible to say that as poorly as they have played. Same with the Rangers.

Astros are 20-9 without Jose Abreu on the roster and 18-31 with him. I know it's a small sample size, but I consider it a trend

This is important stretch and we shall find out. If they limp into the break at .500 then I would say they still have a chance. Realistically, you’d like to see them go 11-7 or better but 10-8 is a must. It can be done but they cannot slump again.

The Seattle Mariners could of got that division lead out to 8-9 games easily by now? But there offense STINKS, and they are a mediocre road team. They have kept Houston and Texas within striking distance to be run down in the back half of the Regular Season

i get why Houston would be top disappointment. luckily they have fixed 3 of their main 4 issues. bullpen is doing better, Bregman is hitting again and most of all they released Jose Abreu. Jose Abreu was a huge rally killer. i would've rather had Zack Greinke batting this year than Jose Abreu. only problem they have left is the Starting pitching. it's hard to succeed when you have a fringe top 5 rotation on the IL

20:19 Sea doesn’t have maybe a top half offense? Only the CWS have a worse OBP BA and OPS than they do. They are 22nd in run scored and based off those numbers, you can say they are lucky to be that high. Is there offense underperforming? Maybe. However, it is one of the absolute worse offenses atm. No where close to being considered a top half offense. Even if the start producing where are they going to be? 15th? 20th? Nah they need a bat. The sooner the better.

4:31 Everybody always says JRam is underrated. By who exactly? He’s been to the all star team 5 out of the last six years. He’s won a silver slugger award 4 out of the last six years. He’s been a top 15 pick in fantasy for a decade now. Does he get talked about enough in mainstream media? No but we all know where their bias in place. Hell the year Bader played for NYY, I heard more about him leading into the year than I did Randy Arozarena. Point is he is not underrated. He gets his love and his due by the fans of baseball. Problem is the popular programs are run by the people who are fans of teams first.

Play Phillies yesterday and barely anyone goes. 1st time last 25 games Phillies played with a crowd less then 30,000. Manfred again hate the man. Hopefully some organization will have the guts to go against the trends and teach their pitchers to move the ball around and change speeds. A 92 MPH fastball can be very effective if the changeup is 76 MPH and the slider is 84 MPH. Work quickly, throw strikes, change speeds. Pitch to contact instead of always going for the strikeout. Keep your pitch count down. Let your defense make plays. Hopefully some organization will figure this out and lead the way out of this obsession with velocity.

I think a huge contributing factor is that if you focus on analytics (pitch velocity, spin rates) it makes scouting easier. All you have to do is point the radar gun at someone or measure their spin rate. Scouts can then be lazier. They don't have to really evaluate a pitcher and see how he pitches and does he get outs. You just look at a number on the gun and you know whether or not you want to go after a player. It's lazy.
