50/50 has never been done. Statistically I'm not saying Shohei is having a better season than Judge, but it is indeed close. However, if you take into consideration that this is the year he's recovering from TJ surgery, then Ohtani is having the best season in HISTORY and continue to make HISTORY!! 50/50 is historic. 60/60 would be otherworldly. Cannot believe the regular season is coming to an end. Wouldn't that be amazing if the Tigers and Mariners got the second and third wildcards? Just a few weeks ago, the Royals and Twins were battling the Guardians for the division lead. The way it looks now one or both of them may miss the playoffs altogether. Think we could state definitively, especially in the way this season started out, when it comes to the AL West, the Houston Astros are inevitable.

Judge's 62, pujols' 700 must be more important, or at least as for the baseballs themselves, though considering Ohtani's far more popular in Japan and they're gonna make bids, the possibility it will get higher price feels likely to me

If there was any lead off hitter that can drive in 10 RBI's that would be OHTANI. By the way he missed the "CYCLE" by inches that would've been even crazier and the first at bat was almost his 4th HR. Unanimous MVP! So 60/60 is achievable he has shown the world the impossible could be possible.

Over thirteen years, he has made nearly 300 career regular season and playoff starts, and only failed to record a strikeout in two starts . . . . the two World Series starts against the Astros in 2017. Of course, 2017 was the year that the Astros cheated "throughout the postseason" according to the MLB Investigative Report. Amazing what a difference that made.

When Ben read the question asking why there’s no 100 win team this season I was going to give the same exact answer. The new schedule has crazy travel now. They used to play way more in their own geographic area. The Dodgers going to Atlanta, then Miami and then all the way back to LA ain’t no joke. That’s an example of crazy travel. LA is lucky to have Shohei because the Rockies would’ve made that series much closer after all that travel.

They have to prove they can win in October. But the team that a lot of people are overlooking to make a deep run is the Cleveland Guardians. The biggest advantage the Guardians have is that they have the ability to condense the game because of a lockdown bullpen that is led by closer Emmanuel Clase, who has been close to perfect.

The Astros have the most playoff success in recent memory out of the teams on the AL side but here’s what I also know the Astros went to the WS in 17,19,21, and 22 all years where they had the best record in the AL or second best. The one year they didn’t go was last year. So the one time out of the last 5 trips to the playoffs where the didn’t make the WS was when they were lower than the two seed, which is what they are again this year. So recent history has shown that if they aren’t at least the two seed, they don’t make it out of the AL

I'm also a big Shohei Ohtani fan, but I don't see 60/60 happening. Maybe 50/60, but 60/60 is unlikely. Padres pitchers are very good, maybe he will hit 1 home run, 2 at most off of them. I can see him hitting 5 more in Colorado, that is if he doesn't get walked. Rockies and Dodgers are division rivals so I don't think they will let him hit the 60th home run off of them. But if he can take care of the homers earlier than the stolen bases, I can see him getting that 60/60.

Regarding the ball. Having been around baseball collectibles for over 40 years and understanding the market, over the next few days, I'd offer it up for $3 million flat as excitement is everything and a millionaire can count it off on their taxes. There's also the Japanese factor. This isn't just an American thing, but Japan as well. There are corporations who'd pay a lot to get that ball, to have it in their collection. It is life changing money, so if the person just took in a game while maybe being unemployed, having kids who need an education, etc, I can't blame them for whatever they do. The ball isn't owed to anyone. But I would sell it as soon as possible as Ohtani could go 60/60 as you mentioned and then what's more valuable? 50/50 made him the first. He should get 55/55, but it's not a round number. 60/60 is just stupid. Imagine if he got 61, tying Maris. In addition, each HR ball this season is worth $10k or more. The first HR in a Dodgers uni has a bit of value. Round numbers have a bigger value. Record setting balls (a lot this year). The whole value is skewed due to the Japanese collectors who are rabid as hell and willing to spend a ton of money just to come over and watch the games. They'd definitely pay up much more than an American collector for a ball. Just started following you. Love the content.

I really wish people would stop dragging other players and their efforts and accolades down to "make a point" about someone they don't want to win. I remember when Judge was really going off in August and it was Judge this Judge that and my thoughts were "Damn, Judge is nuts!" instead of "Well he doesn't steal bases or plays shortstop." You might even see it in the NL ROY conversation with Skenes having a historic year being a rookie pitcher having a sub 2 ERA. But he doesn't play every day so now we got to devalue him? And the DH can't win MVP makes me think of past AL pitchers winning MVP. They neither hit nor played every day and yet they can win MVP? Yeah, okay. 🙄

I had the Phillies and Orioles at first too. It’s always a crap shoot at the beginning of the season to make a prediction. Lol. None of us really know. I feel like we will have a Guardians/Padres World Series. Both of those teams should not be as good as they have been consistently all season. Especially the Padres who have the best record in MLB since the break. I think the Madres get their first World Series win and that sucks for me as a Dodger fan. It would be story book to see Shohei get that hardware his first season as a Dodger. If MLB is fixed then I hope they realize that would be the best way to set it up. Lol

@@Iolo3agreed with your point that it doesn't feel as urgent as 50/50 but doesn't mean he would stop hitting/stealing completely. Its unfair to expect it, but "saving" it for play-off is totally something you couldn't do, baseball doesn't work like that lol. If he can hit Homers (to reach 60) he'll do it, with there are still important games to get division and play-off soon, its not cooling off period yet, he is supposed to get even more hot. Stolen bases in the other hand are situational based, i think if it benefits the team/position he will still do it (not to reach 60 number or whatsoever). At this point Shohei still playing for the best, the goal isnt to create any more club but if the opportunities cames he'll take it. I'm pretty sure its highly improbable. And i think most people who said about 60/60 is half joking and not really expecting him to do it (unlike 50/50), but also won't be surprised if he can.

There must be a way to stop saying a record cannot be broken. "A record is meant to be broken." Every athlete has a responsibility to future athletes by raising the bar of performance. Shohei Ohtani has raised the bar for future athletes to reach. Baseball is a kids' game, and when a player reaches MLB status, he needs to preserve a small part of the child who loved playing baseball throughout his career. Most MLB players have lost that inner child due to the pressures of money, adult responsibilities, and family life. However, Shohei Ohtani seems like a little kid who is having the time of his life, fully embracing the joy and excitement of the game. Shohei Ohtani needs two home runs (55) to surpass Babe Ruth's record (54) for the most home runs in a player's first full season with a new team.

They threw juiced balls to judge for ratings. that’s been proven. I wouldn’t be surprised if sho balls were juiced also. This came after the juiced ball years that made a mockery of the game. Now the bases are bigger and pitcher are handcuffed in their ability to hold runners on. 50/50 is a joke and he never would have been able to do it without the rule changes. In 2022 the stolen base leader stole 41 bags. No one stole fifty. They changed the rules and the year after, 3 people stole over fifty bags with Acuna getting almost 80. Witt and Abrams just missed fifty also. This year will have three or maybe four that reach fifty. All and all, stolen bases are up almost fifty percent from 2022. That’s huge. Sho himself has seen bags almost double. More than that his success rate is a lot higher after the rules. In 2022 he stole 11 bags and got caught 9 times. This year he’s 55 for 4. If you think the rule changes didn’t make this feat possible then you are truly naive. It’s not the same as the dudes who hit forty forty in bigger parks with smaller bases and no pitch clock. It’s not about sho or even the dodgers. It’s about every player from every team that came before him. They are making a mockery of the record books for instant gratification. They have ruined what I loved about the game which was the rich history. What a joke award.

sadly for the dodgers, you will be 1000% proven correct about their prospects down the stretch with only one healthy starting pitcher. padres will sweep at dodger stadium by pitching around ohtani, 60/60 pipedream will be just that. 'stros, phillies, padres, braves will be dangerous playoff teams b/c good pitching always win as they say

60/60 never been the goal though 🤷‍♂️ shouldn't be disappointed if its not happening. It should be a pipe dream from the start. If it happens WOW if it's not who cares. Also hopefully Dodgers offense can overcome the pitching problem. There's nothing you could do except feel confidence/believe in team's talent and have grit at this point.

Nah, 60/60 is impossible. With a very crucial 3 game series coming up against the Padres, I doubt Ohtani will have many chances, the Padres will probably pitch around Ohtani and try to avoid him, especially during late innings if the score is close.

Don’t think they have a choice they have to pitch ohtani unless he hits 2 homers in his first 2 abs. Mookie will rake, he owns the padres and will take it personal if they walk ohtani.

Mookie deserves credit for ohtanis current streak lol without mookie, they would be walking ohtani every ab lol

The thing is they are all Ohtani Haters. I would keep it and SELL HIGH. That said, If I had the 50/50 ball in my possession, I would ask for $2,000,000 in BTC. One more thing, there are 6 more games left. Therefore, Ohtani needs to hit 2 Homers each for the 3 games out of the 6 games left in the Season. Then he only needs to hit only 1 Homer for the rest of the games left in the Season. As for Stolen Bases, he just needs to steal only 5 Bases in 6 games. And, that's very feasible. Hitting the Homers will be more difficult than stealing the bases. However, if he's able to do to what I just said, then for sure he'll definitely be Mr. 60/60.

When they said Ohtani should not be MVP, they woke the sleeping giant, poked the bear, grabbed the tiger by the tail, played with fire, opened Pandora's box, bit off more than they could chew, walked into the lion's den, shot themself in the foot, stole John Wick's car and killed his dog, stepped on Elvis's blue suede shoes, put a hit on Vito Corleone, lit the fuse, said hello to Tony Montana's little friend, drank the Kool-aid, unleashed the Kraken, wrote a check they could not cash, crossed the Rubicon, told Tommy Devito to go home and get his shinebox, leaped before looking, painted themself into a corner, tried to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, called Marty McFly a chicken, rocked the boat, stepped on a crack, pissed off Bruce Banner, did not stay in their lane and know their role, assassinated Archduke Ferdinand, ate the poison apple, told Fonzie he was wrong, had a plan but was punched in the mouth by Mike Tyson, captained the Exxon Valdez, touched a nerve, messed with the wife of a jealous man, jumped out of the frying pan into the fire, checked into the Hotel California, counted their chickens before they hatched, put their foot in their mouth, brought a knife to a gunfight, missed the boat, was caught with their pants down, ran into a brick wall, let the dogs out, bombed Pearl Harbor, broke a mirror, walked under a ladder, crossed paths with a black cat, dug their own grave, barked up the wrong tree, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, did not look both ways before crossing the street, looked a gift horse in the mouth, stirred up a hornet's nest, called the kettle black, was struck by lightning, bit the hand that feeds them, dropped a bar of soap in a men's prison shower, brought cannabis to Russia in luggage, screwed the pooch, made it completely FUGAZI and FUBAR, went on a fool’s errand, let the fox in the henhouse, built castles out of sand, ran with scissors, licked a frozen pole, put themselves in harm’s way, judged a book by its cover, was blinded by the light, put all their eggs in one basket, took the blue pill, effed around and found out, cried over spilt milk, got a taste of their own medicine, gave up their day job, went on a wild goose chase, smoked at a gas station, kicked against the goads, played in traffic, ran with the bulls, stepped on a rake, texted while drinking and driving, tempted fate, pissed in the pool, threw caution to the wind, painted a bullseye on their back, slipped on a banana peel, dropped the ball, stirred the pot, crossed wires, swam with the sharks, danced with the devil, did not keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out of their mouth, tripped over a land mine, became a fly in the ointment, a monkey in the wrench and a pain in the ass, went down in flames, fell from grace, took a long walk on a short pier, got their comeuppance, plowed another man’s field, threw good money after bad, faced the music, fell into quicksand, burned their bridges, did not play with a full deck, sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind, went up the creek without a paddle, had their goose cooked, got hoisted on their own petard, doused fire with gasoline, cut off their nose to spite their face, fell on their sword, pooped their pants, threw stones in a glass house, told Clint Eastwood they feel lucky, invested in Enron stock, sailed aboard the Titanic, tugged on Superman's cape, spit into the wind, pulled the mask off the old Lone Ranger and messed around with Jim.

What's bad about so many people thinking he can hit 60, that means if he ends up hitting something like 57, it won't seem like as much of an accomplishment if he was capable if hitting 60. He only ended with up with 57.. Judge and Ruth have hit more than that

My main concern is that the dodgers pitching will be a problem and ohtani is forced to pitch. Or he forces himself to play. The pitching has to step up.
