People forget just how much bigger the books are than the show. Villains who died in seasons 1-3 are still alive and kicking in the books and there are many more moving plot lines than the show ever had.

On Dany Dragonseed: I'm not sure how you missed this but the obvious reason to send Viserys off with a pretend sister dragonseed is that he can marry her and (plausibly) continue the Targaryen bloodline. Dany believed for her whole life before her arranged marriage to Drogo that she'd marry Viserys one day. It wasn't to have two heirs, it was to continue having heirs into the forseeable future. People who've discussed the theory believe that Viserys was aware of it, and that's partly why he was so willing to sell her to get a Dothraki army; she's not actually his sister.

I used to fall for these predictions for the first 🤔… decade or so. Don't mistake me, i believe the opinion started here is giving in good-faith. I just think it's wrong. I certainly wouldn't take literally anything GRRM says at face value. Maybe this is getting closer to the truth at this point; MAYBE, but i don't think he's had half as much written as he's been claiming this whole time. At least I've seen nothing to indicate that it's true. When did he release the last sample chapter again? Once the COVID shutdowns were lifted and he still hadn't finished, that was when it became clear that he likely never would. If after 18 months of the entire planet being shut down didn't give you enough time to finish it, nothing will. Plus i think you're reading WAY to much into random speculation. I don't like being a contrarian on this subject, I've been wanting to read it since 2011 when i finished Dance. I think winds of winter is the most problematic book. A lot of dominoes from the story have to converge and I think that's what happening with Winds, making the gap between winds and Spring much shorter. I hope...

Ah, I see we're in our HOPE part of the cycle. Back to despair by the end of the year! Am I the only one who thinks Winds is taking so long because he's structuring Dreams too?? You can't just work on the 2nd to last book of a huge series without touching the last book, because it's going to set up everything you need to write in the last, so by writing the 2nd you're effectively laying out the plans for the last book. As well as Winds being the longest book in the series supposedly, it's understandable why this book took so long (not this long though)

Honestly until the last week or so when the whole "GRRM is almost done with WoW" videos started popping up again, I had never heard about the massive rewrite rumor. Taking that into account, and some of the other things like mentioned in this video give me a bit of hope. I'll be paying attention to Worldcon to see what GRRM has to say for sure.
