I like the idea of the game, years ago I installed it and actually played it a lot, later I played it again, and now I TRIED playing it again, but it was so glitched that Im tired of trying to play, some weird glitch or bug always happens that makes the game unplayable or annoying This is everything that happened: - The link in the website said it was the newest version but it gave me an outdated one - When I updated my save file was deleted - The launcher doesn't work and I don't think it has ever worked Then when I finally got the game running: - I went in 1980s mode, killed Kaguya, and the corpse fucking dissapeared, I later found it holding CTRL with yandere vision, it was underground, and when I went home in the game, a teacher discovered the corpse - I saw in a yandere dev video that if you desmembered your rival and put the pieces in garbage bags with the tarp, students picked them up, and the other students didn't. - When class is over two students started spinning and didn't stop untill lunch was over - Class points didn't save and I had to reinstall the game 2 days later when it was fixed - When you are late to class you are supposed to get less class points, but i got more, because instead of setting available study points from the original 10 to 8, it ADDS 8, so you get 18 study points - I kidnapped a target from Yakuza and it didn't let me get the money - I reinstalled yet again - I was doing the sabotage elimination method on the first fucking week and it got bugged, i was on thursday and when i went to school all students spawned in the plaza instead of the school entrance, and the day behaved like a monday instead of a thursday, the event that was supposed to happen was the cinema event, but instead the bento event happened, I know I hadn't reset the game because I had $1699 cash and at the beginning of the game you get 10 dollars, not fucking $1699 cash - I got a 4070 RTX from NVIDIA, and some triple A game at max graphics for me runs smoothly at 60-100 fps, yandere simulator, an anime game with solid colored grass, for me ran at 30-70 fps at max graphics, so even though it has gotten way more optimized than what it was years ago, it's still laggy as hell, and my friends can''t run the game. - I was trying to kill the student council in a kill everyone run, and I was 'spotted' doing 'something suspicious' and got sent to the counselors office (I didn't have a weapon in my hands, wasn't close to the weapon I had left on the ground, I was standing up straight, I wasn't doing the weird ass laugh, and I was just walking) In conclusion, the game is glitched AF, maybe it's an exaggeration that it becomes unplayable, but it's certainly annoying that the save files behave so weirdly

10:25 im sorry but thats a really bad comparison, back when minecraft came out it 2012 it was impossible to figure out how the hell to do anything in that game without having to go to a wiki or watch KZbin videos, it wasn't untell years later when the game pretty much had to add mountains of tutorial text. The console versions which alot of kids grew up on fixed this by automating the crafting and having tutorials day one

2:16 This is absolutely relatable. As someone who has a fan base made up of adults, this part of the video absolutely changed my perspective on fandoms. Some are good, and clean. While, others… are dirty and questionable. I’m ALWAYS the dartboard of The Caretaker Community. At least I have friends who help me with inspiring great videos and connecting with my “fan base”, like YolyPerPlasma, El Amigo Shorts, The Postigo, etc.

3:12, that's "Checking Integrated Circuit" (or CIC for short) Since there was a huge arcade games market crash before the release of the NES Nintendo didn't want any shitty games on their platform, so this way they could control who makes games for it. They also invented "Nintendo Seal of Approval" which was just a marketing trick to assure the customers they aren't buying a shitty game.

This has less to do with the specific constraints that Super Mario Bros had to go through, and the game philosophy behind the game that would make it ~40 KB, and more to do with the general limitations of the hardware. I find this video a little lackluster, considering this is information people have already written videos about in more detail, and talk about the console more generally. I would expect a title named "how [Insert game] was made" to go into detail about the production of said game. There is a lot of interesting things that could be said about the game in a design standpoint that just aren't mentioned. The transition by Nintendo from arcade games to home console is a part of the consideration of a game like this, where elements like a point score, a lives system, and a count-down timer are remnants of arcade game design (which all three were completely abandoned in Mario Odyssey). These arcade mechanics were ways to get players to continue paying quarters to play, but game devs had to adapt to the home console environment of complete game ownership (The NES/Famicon was still installed into arcade cabinets as "Nintendo VS. System", as part of their strategy to combat the video game crash of the 80s). The whole Mario Bros design philosophy centers around the replay-ability of the game, and takes advantage of the gameplay loop of first time play-through, continuous replay after game overs, curious exploration, and mastery of levels. The first world is meant to ease players into the game, while showcasing the power-ups. The world's gradually increase in difficulty, causing many game overs, players rushing levels to progress more. The early level was meant for the player to master speed running through each level as one continuous stretch, and the enemies were placed to challenge player to jump over them. After many retries, players will hit a difficulty spike brick-wall when world 4 introduces to enemies like Hammer Bros that punish players for blindly running fast. By forcing players to slow down when encountering these new enemy types, they are more receptive to trying to find secrets, like one-up mushrooms, overworld warp pipes, and the Koopa shell one-up exploit to super-charge them. Letting players get bored engages players to think harder into the game, and they get rewarded for being creative. The devs knew it would be tedious to play a long section of levels over-and-over, and gave players ways to speed through the game via the secret underground warp pipes. Ultimately this game is not meant just for perfecting its platforming, but for players to play its meta-game of optimal runs and expiration. On a technical level, the level lay-outs were designed on sheets of paper before being implemented on the hardware (as showcased in the art booklet for Super Mario Maker). Almost all of the game's music is designed to use both pulse channels for the same melody, having a extra supplementary harmony of the main line in order for sound effects to not interrupt it completely. Bits of the flagpole fanfare music was reused for the sound effects for the power-up, one-up, and pipe entering sound effect by altering its speed in order to save space. The overworld and underground levels have palette swapped version of enemies, bricks, and other sprites.
