I wouldn't give up on this powder. My son & I have been so impressed with Staball 6.5 in 30/06, 243 & even 7mm Mag. I bought a pound of this Match for my 308. I am eager to see results. Thank you for good content.

I had a similar experience testing Staball Match in 6 ARC. With varget my SD is usually 5-6, with staball match it was about 8-10 shooting the same bullet (107gr SMK). Accuracy was good though, very similar to varget.

I’ve tried staball 6.5 and match in a few rifles. I found myself going back to h4350 and varget.

I bounced back and forth between Varget and SB Match for my 308. Very similar performance but I have noticed the SB Match is a bit more finicky. It took a bit more time to dial in a good load but for my reloading setup, the SB meters far more consistently with significantly less overthrows. That said, my dispenser doesn't have a learning mode which I'm sure would help with dispensing stick powders.

I don’t shoot 6mm dasher or BR but Shooters World Long Rifle powder has load data up to 115gr bullets as well they have load data for 6mm Dasher, BR in 4 powders I pretty much use primarily Shooters World powders Shooters World Match Rifle is my favorite versatile powder good luck with your matches

Hey Rob I'm curious in your BRA gun have you ever seen where the case isn't forming out to the chamber and the headspace is 2 to 3 thou shorter and you get soot down to the case head rim?
@stevenlee79828 күн бұрын
Hi rob. Interested to know if you think the dasher has any advantage over the BRA ? Also interested to see you try 115grn projectiles in the 6GT Cheers
@RobsReloading28 күн бұрын
My GT is an 8 twist so too slow for those heavy projectiles. So far I really the like dasher. Both BRA and dasher are probably so close that the difference is negligible. The BRA has the ease of fireforming without any extra work with lapua brass. However dasher has more published load data and easier to get dies. So it’s probably just going to end up being personal preference between the two.
@stevenlee79828 күн бұрын
@RobsReloading damn . Was hoping to see the GT run those heavy pills I think they would make that cartridge a long range winner in the wind. agree with you on dasher too much work for no gain over BRA. keep the videos coming 👌

Your ladder that shot before the 5 shot group showed that the 32.3 grains would have terrible a ES and SD. You would get your best ESs and SDs between 31 and 31.6 grains....
@RobsReloading28 күн бұрын
How do you figure that off only one shot at each charge?
@francoisbuys878328 күн бұрын
@@RobsReloadingYou shot 3 shots over .6 grains of powder and the spread over the 3 shots were 8fps. Its an indication that over those 3 chargers you will find lower ESs and SDs. Even if it is a small sample size of just on shot per load the fact that 3 consecutive charges did not give a big jump in velocity usually indicates what some people call a "speed node" the only good explanantion I could found for this is that over that charge range the combination between the powder, primer and case volume is opitmal and powder is burning at its most efficient rate. Ironically enough thats also where I have found some of my most accurate loads. Its just my experience and Im just sharing it. Not trying to be smart a smart ass or something. 😅
@RobsReloading28 күн бұрын
@@francoisbuys8783 I used to be a believer in that as well but have seen many times that those “flat spots” in velocity don’t translate to significantly better SD. I may test it again in this situation.
@francoisbuys878328 күн бұрын
@@RobsReloading I have also seen it not to be true in every situation. Usually if I get those "flat spots" over more than .5gr it is more "trustworthy". Its something I have picked up when doing powder testing and wanted answers for and thats the best explanation I found for it and found it to be true more often than. What I usually do is to break that string or flat spot in to .2 grain charges and shoot 5 shot groups, would be nice if you can test this and show your results.

Typical results that mirror my experience with the StaBall series of propellants. Beside those high SD/ES numbers my rifles get much dirtier sooner than single based extruded propellants although copper fouling is well reduced. The best I can do with StaBall Match is to find a cartridge where I can load to about 101 to 102% fill, without going over pressure, then I can get the SD into single digit just. The basic problem with ball propellants seems to be the mix of granule sizes needed to adjust the basic burn rate properties to within the industry standard requirement. The smaller particles have a tendency to settle out of the mix, and even though the charge is measured to .02 grain, the actual mix of particle sizes vary charge to charge. There is just no way to compensate for this. Try this for yourself, weigh out some .5 grain charges and count the particles of each. Did the particle count match?
@whatthe193428 күн бұрын
Your experience is similar to mine, until I realized how hygroscopic this powder is. After realizing it, and putting silica gel in the canister, it's become my best powder for 5.56 and 73 eldm. When extremely dry, it gets single digit ES routinely with 5 shot groups. This is of course with perfect brass prep and loading too.

Can’t blame the SD the bullet barrel combination is just not working
