The equipment is pretty good. Here's the downsides. If you Finance the equipment, you are locked into a 5 years contract. Period. If you pay off the equipment early, you still have to pay at least 50% of the remaining monitoring services to get out of contract. NRG bought Vivint, and it has since changed things. Right now, they have an aggressive sales campaign. If you call in for services, the employees are obligated to try and sell you insurance on cell phones or anything else NRG has slipped in, and they PUSH their employees to make these sales really hard. The phone insurance is worse and more expensive than anything the actual phone companies offer. So getting a 10 minute reset on your system might still be a 20-30 minute call because they have to obligatory try to sell you some sort of insurance as well, and may stall to do so. If they have to send out a tech to service your equipment, if they can't walk you over the phone to fix it yourself, it costs $99 for the tech to come out. The former lifetime warranty on equipment in the past, that was part of Vivint standards of fixing their equipment that went wrong, is now given only if you are being 7.99 or 9.99 for a monthly protection plan. Vivint used to be amazing and spent years building up trust. Now its owned by NRG. Do extensive research before buying. And be wary of sales representatives making false promises.

Just got notified that the subscription is going up 100% next year. From $100 to $200 a year. I guess those trips to the moon and mars are getting expensive. I dropped Amazon and lived I guess I’m going to drop Ring too!

I would skip ring. Next year they’re jacking up their prices for the home monitoring from $10 a month to $20 a month. I see no additional benefits I would check out other, cheaper brands.

Vivint absolutely SUCKS! I replaced my Google Nest system for this crap which is 10 times worse. The latency issues got worse. Half the time the camera doesn't even capture people or cars that pass by. When it does and you try pulling up the footage all you get is the circle of death. Let me not get into the equipment financing. I should've stuck with Google Nest.💩💩💩

Do not use FrontPoint - Terrible service and alarm system We are about to cancel our FrontPoint account after 6+ years of using them. They've gone entirely downhill, after forcing us to use a new touchscreen panel we have experienced at least 3 false alarms while we were traveling. This caused the police to come to our house for no reason. Not to mention the alarm going off countless times when we got home and entered in our code. The alarm is laggy to start and stop. Their customer service is abysmal, they passed us off to other departments, then kept blaming it on our wifi going off which is BS. And you cannot cancel your account online, they make you get on a call to do so. Many other accounts from customers have said they continue to charge them after canceling, or make it very difficult to cancel by giving people the runaround on the phone etc. Absolutely shady company.

Never buy a Nectar mattress I purchased through a nectar site on Amazon Aug. 2023 , before 1 year it totally sagged on both sides, they say 365-day test period and you can even get a full refund, or they will give you a new one. BULL! All they did was tell me I have to go through Amazon and Amazon tells me I have to go through Nectar. back and forth after 12 letters with over 30 pictures and now they say there is no record for complaint for warrantee. Don't waste your money

Self monitoring is more than j ust watching videos. You can scare off intruders. Alert. you if someone enters your house when you’re sleeping or away. The “authorities” don’t do anything anyway, and by the time they’re there the intruders are goine

They need to hire better friendly understanding costumers service people, because their costumers service department is just awful rude, unprofessional, impatient and just don’t care. And they gaslight and blame shift if you stand your ground snd call them up on how they unprofessionally speaking to you. Also the company needs to add employee id number so costumer can actually report rude and unprofessional employees

Potential users should be aware of their return policy. With Bay Medical Alert, when the policy is canceled you have 21 days to return everything. If any of the four devices are missing they charge $299 per device. So if you don't get everything returned promptly you are out over $1000. Oh ... and when you cancel they don't bother to tell you what address is to send it to, although you can find it in the manual (if you know where that is). Ours is getting returned promptly. But those devices all together can't cost more than twenty or thirty dollars to make in China. The return policy is clearly designed to rip you off grieving families who can't find all the devices, so I wouldn't recommend these guys.

Honestly the only good thing about Ring these days is the app. The company has fallen behind drastically in the innovation of its products. Still nothing over 1080p, lack of POE, still no outdoor tracking cameras, ect. I’ve had it for 5 years now (cameras and alarm), will be using Eufy in the future to replace the cameras, and if eufy comes out with a better alarm system or Ring finally decides to maybe innovate or try to match other companies maybe I’ll upgrade

If your alarm triggers, Cove will call and text you asking whether to proceed with the police. They do that because often times people will trigger the alarm themselves forgetting that it is armed. I’ve had the police show up at my house on a few occasions because I didn’t hear the phone ring or text message in time to cancel it.

UPDATE (8/2/24): Today, I was finally able to cancel my service with FP. I called Frontpoint back in April to cancel my service. However, the representative apparently was very clever in the phone call asking me, "Are you sure you do not want to 'renew'?" Of course, I said, "No." However, FP, by using that subtle word "renew" means that they can expect the contract to not renew, but continue to charge me month to month. After two follow up calls with FP expressing that I want to CANCEL my service, I was told that they would not only speak to a manager about refunding my monthly payments, but also cancel. Instead, what happened was that they charged me twice more! Until today, when I spoke to a knowledgeable representative -- NATALIE -- who sent me the requisite email (yes, it's a simple email stating my name, intent to cancel, and my address; instead of a simple phone call, which is security word verified) to get my service canceled. Now, I'll have to wait and see if it's ACTUALLY canceled. Oh, and that $120 that I ended up paying for service I didn't want? They're keeping it. No refund whatsoever. I STRONGLY and vehemently do NOT recommend FP for your home security. There are better services and products out there who have their act together.

Horrible! within 8 months of install it wasn't working as suppose to. They gladly came out but told " whoever put THEIR system in gave you an out dated system". What a scam. In 6 years Ive had them tell me this same thing 3 times. They keep putting in obsolete equipment and told me I needed to upgrade. Then, Doesn't record so I was told a 'credit for a mere $15 would happen and it didn't. Was still charged the regular monthly fee of $57 when it wasnt working. Told they can't get new system to me for reasons their techs were booked out for 3+ weeks but I still was charged. Customer service is in the phillipines and can't communicate, but if you need to discuss billing theyer never available. Good luck getting honesty out of this company. Im Done!!.

Vivint is the worst security system out there, I requested a tech to come out for three months straight! I was finally forced to cancel them and they charged me a bunch of money, along with all the things they made me do to cancel them, they took 30 days to do it, and still charged me the monthly fee even thoe the system wasn't working the whole time I had it. Read the contracts People!! The tech support is trash!! not even American, Try stating your case to some guy in India, wile you hear them laughing and having a good ol time in the background, this company is a Joke!!

FLUFF... just enough info to get you into trouble. Seniors do not realize they have to change cheap batteries every 2 to 3 months. They may not know when the die.... Old ADT sensors had CR123A batteries that lasted 7 to 10 years. These cheap sensors are small, therefore coin batteries are required. They die, you die. How long do they provide warnings?

FLUFF ! Looking for hard review of what works, and limitations, costs of systems to replace my 2002 hardwired system I purchased for $4,000.00. This video was a waste of time. BTW, did you research the tiny batteries on the sensors that die after a short period of time? Are these systems WiFi and are cellular systems available. We have Xfinity internet and their reliability is at best 60%. Burglars can now block WiFi. After watching this video, I was waiting for a review on the equipment color preferences for Home Design. Here's one to stump you... Earthquakes.... Vibrations.. California would be a great test environment. They have these post earthquake criminals problems. Battery life?

Almost none of these types of companies run their own call centers. A majority contract out to call centers who specialize in this type of medical monitoring. That’s some the cost. Maintaining the data connection and GPS monitoring is another factor.

Cove is just BAD and I'll explain why! First off ANY system that offers a Key-fob is vulnerable to wireless attacks that can be easily HACKED and your system can be "disarmed" with a simple hack! Strike ONE! Their "protection" plans are vague and lead you into a "false" sense of security - Strike TWO! The last thing is that Cove works with NO other products outside their limited offerings so you are then FORCED to live in that limited eco-system and LACK of features - Strike THREE! Not a good "option" for anyone interested in home security. After having ADT which I would NEVER recommend to anyone this "system" is a FAILURE on so many levels and for the price! MUCH better options out there!
