If you are in a metal building, and wish to deploy external cameras, SimpliSafe is not going to work without some kind of bridge to get you through the metal building wall. The truly bizarre part of it is that SimpliSafe STILL (3 years later) does NOT have a solution. You will be on your own to devise a fix.

I just got my brand new system. Beware of the fact that they don't actually send an alarm with this alarm system. Tricky on their part. So I had to purchase the actual alarm separately. When I went to hook up the system, my motion sensor would not connect to the base station. So I had to buy another sensor since I could not find a way do discuss the issue with customer service without calling them (no email or chat available that I could find). Three stars out of five.

If there is no alarm, how is this an alarm system? Do you mean the siren?

@@larrycrumley5106 The siren is the alarm. Without hearing the siren, nobody will be alarmed. Nevertheless, I have resolved my issue since my original post. In my old system, the siren was separate from the base. With the new system, the siren is built into the base. SimpliSafe didn't make that obvious.

The system I bought included keypad, base station (which is the alarm), 3 door sensors and 1 motion sensor. Not sure how you bought a system without the base station.

@@darrellatkinson6980 Thanks. Mine came with the base station but no an external alarm. I've since found out that the arlamr is built into the base station. That wasn't the case with my old setup. Anyway, I got the entire issue resolved a couple of months ago. Thanks for your input.

Vivint has a device that you can buy and it allows you to rewind all recorded footage within a 24hr window. Does simpisafe offer something similar?

SimpliSafe cameras are a complete joke. You get an alert that there’s motion, you click on it, sometimes it loads in 10-15 seconds (still way too long). Sometimes it just doesn't load at all and says your camera is disconnected. The only thing worse than having no security system is having one like this which just gives you a false sense of security.

Totally agree. The cameras are awful. I had this same problem. The doorbell camera is just as bad. The speakers in the cameras are terrible.

If you want an excellent camera system, this will cost you several thousand dollars and will not be wifi based, but hardwired in. I only have two small SimpliSafe indoor cameras that look at the entrances as it’s convenient and useful if I’m not home when an alarm gets triggered. Initially I had slow camera response but once the wifi got boosted that was no longer a problem. An all in one consumer product will not be as good as a speciality built system.

It has nothing to do with the wifi. I have two cameras that are each about 10 feet within line of sight of the router. It’s SimpliSafe’s abysmal cameras and software that are the issue.

@@michaelhill6451 I have internet via a fibre network and have no such issues. In addition, as previously mentioned, excellent quality cameras will cost hundreds to thousands of dollars per unit. You certainly get what you pay for.

The outside cameras are garbage! I got 3 and just replaced them with a separate high quality CCTV system.

A simple jammer will completely disable a SimpliSafe alarm system. Either get a wired alarm system or don’t bother. SimpliSafe is useless

Don’t go for Simplisafe. Do more research. They had problematic equipments, sensors, connectivity. I gave them a chance so I was beyond 60 days when I cancelled. But in between that I had to keep returning and replacing their cameras and other equipments and they don’t want to refund me. They’re a bad company.

@@Hat65excuse me, I kept returning their equipment and asking for new one cause it was having trouble, I was giving them a chance that is why it went beyond 60 days. You are mean. I am not dumb.
