Potential users should be aware of their return policy. With Bay Medical Alert, when the policy is canceled you have 21 days to return everything. If any of the four devices are missing they charge $299 per device. So if you don't get everything returned promptly you are out over $1000. Oh ... and when you cancel they don't bother to tell you what address is to send it to, although you can find it in the manual (if you know where that is). Ours is getting returned promptly. But those devices all together can't cost more than twenty or thirty dollars to make in China. The return policy is clearly designed to rip you off grieving families who can't find all the devices, so I wouldn't recommend these guys.

What about response times, how the notification systems work and number of times a false alert is free?

Thank you. I'm looking for a system for my dad and this was very helpful.

How can you leave off the most famous > Life Alert? That's suspicious.

I don't understand how they can justify these costs.

Almost none of these types of companies run their own call centers. A majority contract out to call centers who specialize in this type of medical monitoring. That’s some the cost. Maintaining the data connection and GPS monitoring is another factor.

would you rather pay a home care giver at $30-$35 dollars an hr? and thats out of pocket since medicare doesn't cover it!
