Us and them was a great tour but I personally think that his most recent tour might be his best (either that or the wall tour from the 2010s) the only thing that this tour had which I was super excited about was dogs, pigs, and some of his new songs from ITTLWRW. I also enjoy the Eric Clapton tour from the 80s even if some of the songs sound really dated. I find it kinda funny that Roger and Eric played the second in the flesh together on tour. I also had a similar experience in my local theatre seeing this is not a drill but when I saw us and them in the Theatre i don’t remember it being too quiet. This is not a drill was for sure too quiet though, and any of the proshot online I find is also too quiet

Every song on this album sounds like it belongs in a car commercial. I hate it. However their new album isn’t that bad, dare I say I even enjoyed it.

I’m in the same boat as you as a fan. I hate the fandom nowadays considering how annoying all the infighting is. But fans like you give me hope that it could change over time

Excellent video especially when you were contextualizing the fascist part of the story. Could’ve used this video a few years ago when I was trying to figure this album out. The wall was and is incredibly relatable to me. But as I’ve gotten older I see it as a warning and not an instruction manual

I like this album I don’t care what anybody says. It’s definitely interesting. I do have to say it is definitely a Roger Waters album backed up by Pink Floyd members. What’s interesting is that when it came out a lot of people who worshiped The Wall hated this record. That’s kind of strange given that a lot of these songs hence why even though the plot lines not similar, the direction is similar a lot of these songs were actually originally intended for The Wall But I believe it was Bob Ezrin, who rejected them and threw them aside which probably led to a very intense and problematic relationship between Roger Waters and Bob Ezrin as I did hear they fell out after The Wall Album was finished. Getting back to what I said though it’s interesting that diehard fans of The Wall hated this album for the reasons I talked about.

Division Bell has some great tracks on it I always enjoy listening to, the instrumentals always feel crisp and deep. Personally, I've always connected What Do You Want From Me to Gilmour talking to Waters directly. I love Wearing the Inside Out though, makes me wish there was more songs with Wright on vocals.

Been looking forward to this video! This album got me through hard times - tracks like Marooned, Wearing the Inside Out and What do you want from me are definite standouts! I would also consider Richard Wright's Broken China a bit of the companion piece to this record as well...

I always thought Tommy was pretentious crap. And always thought that Elton John’s glam rock version of Pinball Wizard rocks harder and is better than the plodding acoustical original.

To start- I am a huge Who fan. That said, Townsend's writing was always unconventional. You even use the example of "A Quick One." You reference the 1921 lyrics but fail to understand the story. Tommy witnesses Bernie and his mother killing Captain Walker - your narration insists that Captain Walker kills the man? It is following this that Bernie and his mother insist that Tommy "didn't see it, didn't hear it"as the basis for the trauma. Effectively this is the verify thing Tommy will not do. He is now functionally blind, deaf, and dumb. Overture and Sparks is the inward journey. The film, that you show, deliberately uses military imagery and theme to reinforce the constant nature of the trauma. The ongoing exposition illustrates the sustained impersonal selfish disinterest and perverted guilt of Bernie and Mom associated with their actions. Tommy is a matter of interest only by association. Mom expresses concern, but at the same time, disinterest for Tommy and repeatedly leaving Tommy to the whims of others- a Charlatan, a Sadist, and a molester while she eats bonbons and drinks alcohol. Bernie, the father substitute, does nothing to protect the boy. Ernie, likely Bernie's brother, is shown later, as still an offending molester, but, an active member of the family, as too often was the case. In fact, Bernie explicitly only shows interest when he realizes that Tommy's exceptional pinball skills, or the recovery cult, can be profitable to him. I will ignore that your critique of Townsend's artistic use of an Underture, but suffice to say that you talk more about Quadraphenia than Tommy. You also reference Tommy having three abusers but ignore it may actually be a reference to the recurring use of three in the Jesus narrative (three serves as a powerful symbol of completeness, emphasis, and spiritual significance (resurrection after three days, Peter's three denials and threefold affirmation, Jesus' three predictions). Ultimately, Tommy does exploit resurrection themes but if that doesn't float your boat the number three is a potent symbol in various mystical and spiritual traditions, often representing completeness, balance, and the interconnection of different elements or concepts across diverse cultures suggesting a universal significance and profound resonance in the human experience. But who's counting? K- Underture- is used to describe an instrumental piece that occurs within the work that serves to develop and elaborate on the musical themes, offering both a musical and a narrative interlude. It is a narrative pause to reflect on the story. It is still 4 kick ass musicians but... Ok, what is your point? I wasn't a fan of Face Dances. Also, I thank God Townsend didn't expound upon the themes, you would be critiquing the equivalent of the Ring Cycle by Wagner. Ultimately, when you get back on topic, you also mistake Tommy's fascination with the mirror, as a treatment. No!!!!!!!! It is his only object of interest. Mom seeking out the doctor is still punctuated by her tryst with the Doctor. It is about her. Not him. She explicitly sings ""What does he see in the mirror". This leads to "Tommy can you see me" and "Smash the mirror" is another context of neglect, disinterest and ultimately guilt fueled anger well illustrated in the film. Smash the mirror is all about her. Now, I do not think Townsend is a critical psychological theorist, but this event liberates Tommy from his isolation. If you want to critique that premise, I would say look at all the shitty plot devices used in Opera, pulp fiction, modern crap sitcoms as a baseline and suck it up and remember it is about the music- it is a rock opera not "'The Brothers Karamazov." You offered gems that I am going to skip, but look dude, opera is a story with devices to move the story forward. I suspect that amidst the libraries of Opera's most of them are not memorable. In summary, you don't like the album that is ok, but, your critique seems to be suggesting Townsend should have "made it better". WTF?

My least favorite tracks are probably Fiddle About and Cousin Kevin not only for the subject matter but the songs are goofier. I love the whole album though Christmas and Underure included That track was always very relaxing My faves are I’m Free and Pinball Wizard My take on the movie is a bit different with the songs

This is an amazing video. Even though TFC is low in my Floyd rankings I still think it’s a solid record. This is some of Roger’s best songwriting by far with the whole idea of turning leftover songs from The Wall into an anti-war concept album is brilliant to me. David and Nick are great as always (some underrated Gilmour solos on here) and some of my fav Floyd songs are on here like The Post War Dream, Your Possible Pasts, & The Gunner’s Dream. I think my issue with the record (and a lot of people I see share the same sentiments) is that the album starts to get a bit underwhelming sonically. I do agree the album needed to be slow for its concept, but after a while it starts to get a bit repetitive with some songs starting to blend in with each other not really being 100% engaging for me. Roger’s vocals are a mixed bag for me here as some songs he sounds amazing like the intro but songs like the title track it sounds like he’s trying too hard barely reaching the notes. Even though Michael Kamen did a great job on the piano, orchestra, and production, I do miss and feel the absence of Richard on keyboards. There’s really only one song I dislike on here and it’s Not Now John. Yeah lyrically it’s great with the critique of Japan and America after the war, it’s just sonically it always came off so corny to me sounding like great value version of Young Lust, I’ve never liked that shit. Besides that, every song on here is solid to even amazing. Me personally I prefer the Gilmour era stuff over this but still it’s a pretty good record especially with what was going on with the band at the time. I think Roger did a great job for what he could do and for the most part it works. It’s nowhere near as bad as some people say it is but at the same time I kinda get why it’s not for everyone (especially coming out after an album like the fucking Wall). I just wish it was a bit more consistent and engaging for me. Again great video!

The single best anti-war album I have ever heard. Hugh Floyd fan. One if the best. Too bad the band was so disheveled at the time as it might have been even better. Gilmore's solos are powerful. Fletcher Memorial Home should actually be created and send the war mongers there!

FIND YOURSELF A DECENT TURNTANLE GO OUT AND PURCHASE AN ORIGINAL COPY OF THIS RECORD darken the room LAY YOUR HEAD DOWN CLOSE YOUR EYES I just feel one might judge this record differently if trying to listen to it early morning or cruising around in your car All classic rock albums sound much better listening to them in analog form l I'm sure there are decent copies of this record for listening on headphones etc But the best way is in its original vinyl pressing form

I don't think Nostalgia Critic "misinterpreted" the wall---I feel his version says more about him and his interpretation of it, than it speaks to the consensus interpretations and other individual vantage points on it. In other words, the scene where Doug makes swimming, t-pose motions, yelling, "I'm jesus", is like him mocking others that has more notoriety than him, while expressing the recognition he feels he deserves and/or wants.
