I forgot how cool these demos were. As a long time alkaline trio fan I always felt Crimson was when they started changing in a direction that I personally didn’t like as much. I loved all the albums before Crimson, but crimson was kind of hit and miss. I think a lot if it came down to production. Hearing these more stripped down versions makes me realize how much a like many of the songs but they ended up a bit too polished on the album. Very cool to hear again after all these years. It’s also interesting to see how different they sound now. I think that has a lot to do with Matt’s ever changing vocals. His vocals sound very compressed / produced in the more resent stuff.

I guess I’m the only one who’s underwhelmed??! This is completely void of emotion IMO…and the simple lead guitar parts are missing…idk…I love Alkaline Trio and The Cure is my #1 favorite band so I might have had my expectations too high
