so, people, the broadway cast isnt SUPPOSED to sound like Billie Joe, this is a different version of the songs. Some of the lyrics for some of the songs are different too. So stop complaining how "it doesnt sound like billie" or how "the original is better" they are both great versions and show green day some respect.

they arent off key, it's just how their voices are resonated, it sounds kind of nasally but this is rock and it is how they interpreted their parts. IT's mostly about them telling the story.

I think the reason that I adore this show as much as I do is that I was never an actual Green Day fan. Listening to the Cast album was like listening to a brand new release for me, as opposed to an album of covers. So when people tell me it's 'just Green Day', I'm never sure what to say. Because it isn't 'just Green Day' for me. These songs have found a special place in my heart, and this musical has become my absolute favorite.

Gotta love hearing Broadway trained singers who are tenors and baritones used to handling showtunes attempt something like this. They're not bad singers it's just not right. Holiday is not a Broadway score, and isn't meant to be, and vocally it's miles different. I was trained in showtunes and opera but I can't handle a pop score to save my life. It's a tough hybrid to make.

Its just a shit mix. Whomever did the sound editing on this performance should be fired. Its amazing live, when its mixed properly. Sure its no live Green Day performance, but the story and the show are truly amazing. But damn this sound mixing makes me cringe right here.

Ive seen this show twice. The singers are amazing, whoever says they are not doesn't know anything. I saw John Ghallager as Jonny once, and Van Hughes the other time, they're almost identical. Stark sands and michael esper are also amazing singers. Rebecca steals the show though. ALSO, I know for a fact John Ghallager and Stark sands are straight, Tony vincent is married to Aspen vincent ( she is also in the cast). Learn a thing or two about theatre before you hate on it.

If you find a video of them singing this song in their own theatre or on the soundtrack, you'll find these guys can actually sing AMAZING. It's probably the fault of the sound system in this small studio so the actors can't hear themselves as well and sing slightly off. I'm not making excuses for them, because vocally this isn't that good, but I wouldn't judge them on one small studio performance.
