My second viewing! Im still on my trial version . Im enjoying this tool a lot. Frequency separation was a lot of work in PS. I love the fine eyelashes I added on a senior photo! Very natural. Thanks again Mark.

Wonderful video. Would the calibration file generated from the passport photo be better named by say camera and lens? That would also account for possible color cast from the lens.
@MarkWallaceVideos
@MarkWallaceVideos 9 күн бұрын
You can name your profiles in a way that best works for you. But, even if you calibrate for a camera and lens, you still have to take into account different lighting scenarios. So a Canon R5 + 85mm f/1.2L II could be different on-location or in studio. Or with a different softbox/umbrella, etc. That's why I usually name my profiles to the exact photoshoot and setup.

The white/gray card can rarely give the best WB, and in fact shooting around trees like that there will be a lot of green tint on white card and screw white balance. WB is a matter of taste. I find doing WB by hand much superior to relying on white card. The same with exposure, you practically never want the middle gray in the center, your taste should guide you in biasing exposure levels.

I appreciate that! I agree - the bounce was best. I almost never shoot with a flash on the camera, but when I do, I try to bounce to soften the light.

great video Mark! Any advice on a speed light for the R5C that's actually in stock? Canon told me the EL-5 would work on preorder but it's a brick.
@MarkWallaceVideos
@MarkWallaceVideos 13 күн бұрын
Godox/Flashpoint has some very affordable speedlights that are fully compatible. I've used the Godox V1 and had some really great results. If you want a professional level on-camera flash, the Profoto A10 is my recommendation. I've linked to all of those products in the description of this video. :) You can see me using the Godox V1 (Flashpoint version - they are identical) in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j566oJuJf9uhgposi=JfJun7b9ncVKHP1n

Would this method also be possible with Photoshop and Evoto?
@MarkWallaceVideos
@MarkWallaceVideos 13 күн бұрын
No, you'll have to export the file from Photoshop (I use TIFF) then open and edit in Evoto. After you've finished your Evoto Edits bring the image back into Photoshop by opening the file or placing it as a new layer.

Thank you very much Mark! Though I feel this video could have been 5 minutes long instead of 15, many repeating parts, but that is just constructive criticism, this is not hate in any way, I love your videos. Thank you for your time and sharing this new feature! :) - ALSO IMPORTANT to keep in mind, at 11:41 we can see how much the space needed is multiplying, from a 50Mb RAW file, into 2 additional temporary files that sum up to 520Mb (262Mb each) and this is just 1 image, if you have a batch of say 100 or 1000 images this could BLOW UP exponentially so be carefull when using this feature. Peace ✨✨🖤🖤

Yep, the files can eat up a hard drive. You face the same issue exporting to Photoshop or any app that creates a new TIFF. The Tiff is not a temporary file, it becomes the new working file in LR after the roundtrip. Luckily storage space is pretty inexpensive these days.
@ZPOLLAK

@@MarkWallaceVideos Currently loading 170 photos via your method shown here. What do you typically do with the raw files and TIFF files after a project is done, say a few months later? Do you compress/zip them, and store for later?
@VolkerThimm
@VolkerThimm 2 күн бұрын
@@ZPOLLAK Buy a SSD and ship the whole project on that thing. Donˋt zip it! If you are looking for ONE picture you are going to unzip hell on your hard drive. Just buy a SSD and put it in the attic. You‘ll probably never ever need it again but you‘ll sleep better. And yes, that video could have had a faster pace. True.

In my view, the backup file is unnecessary and creates an additional file that I will need to delete later, especially when I edit a lot of files. Since I already have the RAW file, the edits are inherently non-destructive. I hope Evoto will consider making this backup file optional.
@MarkWallaceVideos
@MarkWallaceVideos 14 күн бұрын
I will pass that along to Evoto

What would the steps be if I am using camera raw...can I import into Evoto,and as usual save it into my computer, or if I want into Photoshop?
@MarkWallaceVideos
@MarkWallaceVideos 13 күн бұрын
In Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) you can make your adjustments and then save the file from ACR as a TIFF file. Then open the TIFF in Evoto, make your edits, and then open that in Photoshop. Hopefully Evoto will create a plug-in so Evoto can be used as a filter in the future.

I’ve been using the same for 15+ years; the same one. It’s totally worth it. Prior to that I was using a 8x10 gray card for critical shoots, location and studio. Also, fill the screen as much as possible with the card, skin tones, a critical color, etc.- makes “eye dropping” later much easier. ALSO….Calibrated monitors a must!

The most difficult it gets when ambient white balance and flash white balance mix. It would be interesting to see a video about this.
@MarkWallaceVideos
@MarkWallaceVideos 14 күн бұрын
The over simplified answer is to use a gel to match the flash color temp with the ambient color temp. There are many companies that make little gel packs for speedlights. Rogue makes some great kits. Here's a bit about that: www.rogueflash.com/blogs/blog/creative-lighting-outdoors-with-small-flash-and-gels
