My mom would always watch this show while cooking dinner for me as a kid. It reminds me of when my dad and mom were happy together and life was good. She was so happy back then, but she’s never really been the same since.

It’s interesting how this diddy without lyrics sounds so pretty and sentimental, and yet the lyrics to this song are about the benefits and joys of possibly unaliving yourself

Thank you Tom Mccomas for being such a big part of our childhoods and introducing us to great railroad themed music at an early age. Your work remains timeless for all of us railfans and model railroaders. Tom Mccomas 1938-2024

This film represents a very very small fraction of the entire US American Freedom Train experience, this only covers a few portions in Southern California and West Coast. There were two other steam locomotives that pulled the American Freedom Train on the East Coast....those locomotives are equally interesting. The Reading T-1 class 4-8-4 Number 2101 pulled the Freedom Train throughout most of the Midwest and the entire east coast. Texas Pacific 2-10-4 Number 610 pulled the AFT consist across most of Texas.

Whenever this opening scene would start on TV when I was a kid that meant it was getting late and it was bedtime for me 🥱. But my Uncle would stay up late and watch the whole episode of M*A*S*H.

When it comes to intro jingles for TV shows, I have always wondered why the higher ups chose specific tunes. If their objective of the theme song was to downplay war, to the point of involuntary sedation, they might have been onto something… but not really.
