I think we have all been in the position of hating where we are. Because I have a super imagination, I did go to secret places in my mind. Just to get away from the stress. Thats the beauty of Taylor's lyrics. They are specific enough, yet vague enough that you, the listener can drop in any name or experience from your own history. Genius.

I would say for TTPD But Daddy I Love Him or So High School are the closest to a Speak Now balance between instrumentation and lyricism. Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me definitely has dynamics, at least vocally, while still very much feeling like her newer style. So Long London is sonically interesting in ways you might like, although newer style overall for sure, and I love the lyrics. I LOVE The Black Dog and the music mirrors the words in cool ways, but still more stripped down than you are talking about. From Midnights, something like Lavender Haze at least has the music there for its own sake and not just to sit the lyrics on. Hits Different qualifies, too. No Body No Crime from Evermore isn’t anywhere near a rock song, and there’s not a musical climax a la speak now, but it’s in range of the vibe you’re talking about I think. Smallest Man Who Ever Lived on TTPD is interesting to me because objectively it should be very boring just based on the melody and production, but when she hits that ending section and just keeps going and builds and keeps going and builds more, it is genuinely one of my favorites in the end. I Look in People’s Windows, loml, and Peter are also favorites of mine on the album, but not necessarily your thing. Would be curious sometime to see how you liked imgonnagetyouback. Nice to see you back :)

This game looks goofy at best and terrible at worst. Character designs look really bad even if you like the style they leaned into. That combined with all the woke nonsense shoved in and I'd be shocked if this game doesn't flop terribly. It's a pass for me.
3 ай бұрын
@@JM-sp2iu I'll wait to pass judgement on it until it's out and I can try it myself, but I'm not ruling out it could be bad. Hard disagree on "woke nonsense" though as IMO there is no such thing. How is there no such thing as woke nonsense? Are you blind.. I personally look forward to this game ect and will judge it for myself when released, but don't act like woke politics aren't effecting every form of media out there.. because then you're just turning a blind eye to it all.
2 ай бұрын
@@olsonbrandon91 I just mean "woke nonsense" doesn't make sense. It's used as a negative, but woke just means aware and inclusive. That's, firstly, not nonsense, it's important to a lot of people and if it's not important to you, you're most likely already included. There's nothing political about it. And secondly, especially in this setting, a fantasy world where you can make your own character, you SHOULD be able to make WHOEVER *YOU* want. Woke isn't something political, it's something inclusive and how we have made society move forward forever. Over the past couple of years, a vocal minority of mainly right wing people of influence had tried twisting the concept of woke into something it's not for their own agenda, which I take issue with. If someone wants to take issue with how the game might include various skin colors, sexualities or gender identities, say that, but don't try to veil it inside calling it woke, cause that's not how it works. But I can imagine it's easier, cause then they feel better about not being gatekeeping or outright racist or homophobic etc. At the end of the day, especially in this context, THIS IS A FANTASY GAME. Based on the fantasy world the developers made up. Their rules and concepts are what we get and if that means some people take offense and don't want it, that's up to each party on their own. If someone wants a world where everyone is straight, white and a class based society, cool. Make that world and let people choose to engage with it. Same goes with south American, gay and communistic worlds or whatever you want. It's the creators creative choice and will affect how many people engage with it. Make it more diverse and inclusive and you'll cover more people. Anyway, I'm rambling at this point but I guess my stance is clear 🤷 more love and inclusivity in the world please. It's dark as hell as it is....
@SuperStarkiller9992 ай бұрын
The problem here is their is already an established world with dragon age, this devs know nothing of it as you can see in most interviews (they dont even know the characters from previous games). I cant be a curvy female (biggest is a cups from the slider nothing more) in this game or a muscular male so you allready cant be everything you want to just apporved DEI characters of toxic left wingers or more like what they want everyone to be since a woman beeing attractive is a sin for them.

I can't remember where I read it, but I read that Taylor wrote this after her friend in the country music industry came out and the line about fighting dragons is a metaphor for standing up against homophobes. That's what the song sounds like to me and makes it that much more meaningful.

The out of tune singing of the person recording the video you watched definitely takes away from the song. There are clean versions of this performance out there even without watching the actual Eras Tour film. It is worth watching a clear version without some random dude thinking anyone is interested in hearing him harmonize with Taylor on this stunning song and performance. It actually isn’t a worse performance and the quality of the official video is great. This was some dude clearly recording his TV screen without any special recording equipment and stupidly singing in the background. If you haven’t seen the actual official video of this performance then you might not realize it or how much it took away from the sound quality and experience of the musical performance. You are right she is focused on the portrayal of the song more than the music in this one but it is not actually worse than the recorded version. I want to always tell people - Don’t bother recording a performance for others to see if you can’t control yourself and stay out of performance.

This song for me is about my self harm addiction, suicidal ideation, depression, and anxiety. My favorite line was They told me all of my cages were mental/So I got wasted like all my potential For me its not wasted like alcohol, it was about the distraction with my blade until I felt nothing but physical pain, because it was a distraction from mental pain, because I could not get rid of it no matter how hard I tried.
