my favourite thing from this song is that it starts and finishes with "i sit and watch you" and, especially with the eras tour perfomance, it gives the idea that this whole song was just a trail of thought from the lyrical person, as if this all of the song is just a flash of her thoughts as she sits and watches her lover

It’s a CRIME that this was cut from the Eras Tour.

I saw the Tour film, this performance was awesome. Taylor only has 3 Christmas songs, 2 that were done on a Christmas album and the rest were covers. The most recent one is called "Christmas Tree Farm" watch the official MV it has footage of her childhood at the Christmas tree farm that she lived on when she was little.

But also, that Christmas album (though it was almost entirely covers of “classic” Christmas songs we get bombarded with annually here🇺🇸) that she released in the late 2000’s was fire 🔥, I’m not even gonna pretend I didn’t have it going on repeat when it first came out nearly 15 years ago. 🎅🏻 🎄 🎁

So happy you did this one! This is one of my favorites in her entire discography, and the performance at the Eras tour just blew me away. She acts out the lyrics so expertly, even down to her facial expressions. It's gut-wrenching to imagine this woman who's *finally* standing up for herself, saying, "Hey, stop ignoring me! If you don't appreciate me, then maybe I'll leave!"... and then in the end, she stays anyway, as shown by the final lyric, "I sit and watch you." I have definitely been in that situation before, where you know a relationship is one-sided and the other person isn't meeting you halfway, yet you can't find the strength to actually leave. This song has been so therapeutic for me for that reason. Onto the Christmas songs! She actually doesn't have that many, and consensus is that the ones she does have are... not great lol. But here are my suggestions, in the order I think you should listen to them! I think this is a good mix of older and newer stuff. But of course you could just listen in chronological release order if you prefer. I had to throw in some generally "holiday" sounding songs since she only has a handful that are explicitly about Christmas. Also, I did 13, since that is Taylor's favorite number! 13 Days of Swiftmas has a nice ring to it, don't you think? Let me know if you have any questions! -------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Last Christmas 2. Christmas Must Be Something More - another original one from 2007... albeit extremely cheesy, lol. Teenage Taylor wrote this one entirely by herself, for what's that worth! 3. The Moment I Knew (Taylor's Version) - Not technically a Christmas song, but it's set in December, and a fan favorite. She wrote this one for her 2012 album, Red, without any co-writers (but listen to Taylor's Version please!) It's about her ex boyfriend who said he was going to show up to her party. She watched the door all night waiting for him to come, but he never did... Listen closely to the lyrics to learn more. This song heavily connects to All Too Well, also. 4. Santa Baby 5. Silent Night 6. Lover - 2019 song she wrote entirely by herself, that mentions Christmas very briefly (Can you tell I'm really stretching here? Lol. She doesn't have that many holiday songs!) The music video is great; it's set inside of a snowglobe! This is actually the origin of the "Lover House" that is seen in many of the Eras Tour visuals. Each room represents one of her albums. 7. Christmases When You Were Mine - an original song from 2007 8. 'tis the damn season - Also not a Christmas song, but it's a story set during the holiday season, so we Swifties embrace it as a holiday song! This is from the perspective of a girl who left her hometown to chase her dreams of being famous, who's come back to visit her hometown for the holidays. Part of her wishes her high school boyfriend would ask her to stay, because her life in LA isn't all it's cracked up to be. Fun fact: She wrote this song when she was drunk! 9. dorothea - This one is optional, but it's the other perspective to 'tis the damn season, so it makes sense to listen to them together. This is the other side of the story, narrated by her high school BF who expresses awe for Dorothea's achivements, but wants to remind her that if she ever gets tired of the shallow LA culture, she always has a spot at home with him. If you DON'T want to do this one since it's not particularly connected to the holidays except as a foil to 'tis the damn season, switch this out for her song called evermore, which at least *mentions* December, lol. 10. White Christmas 11. right where you left me - Also not a Christmas song, but a HUGE fan favorite. (It's in my top 5 in her discography.) It does mention Christmas once, and has a holiday vibe, IMO. This song is basically about being totally frozen in time, unable to move on from your ex who left you for someone else. The imagery is immaculate - the scene is Taylor sitting in a restaurant booth, collecting dust as she waits for her ex to return to her, while watching everyone else in her life pass her by and whisper about how sad it is that she never moved on. 12. Christmas Tree Farm - an original Christmas song released in 2019, which she wrote without any co-writers. Taylor actually grew up on a Christmas Tree Farm, so the song is about how she daydreams about going back to that time with her boyfriend, and just about loving wintry/Christmassy things in general! 13. Christmas Tree Farm (Old Timey Version) - a "remix" of Christmas Tree Farm she put out. You can swap these two around if you like, but I really think you should end on Christmas Tree Farm in some way since it's become her staple holiday hit.

This performance is outstanding! I personally loved the intro and how simple it was her vocals were amazing! She’s always been theatrical and tells a story through writing but also performance. The song itself is self explanatory but the performance is obviously about a women in a relationship where the man just puts up with her despite the efforts and she can LITERALLY throw a tantrum and he still won’t see her suffering or care for it,it’s just powerful..what’s more powerful is emotionally abusive relationships etc the women never really gets out the first time so for her to say in beginning and the end “I sit and watch you” is so realistic! Most of us know we deserve better but it’s the climb and courage to get out,I can imagine most of these are premeditated until it happens aka leaving.

@Oh, I recently learned that Taylor Swift made “The Best Day” as a Christmas present for her mom! So that could be another Swiftmas song.

Taylor has three original Christmas songs: Christmas Tree Farm, Christmas Must Be Something More, and Christmases When You Were Mine. Christmas Tree Farm has a music video and there’s also a remix called Christmas Tree Farm (Old Timey Version). Christmas Tree Farm also has a short behind the scenes that Taylor posted on instagram and KZbin. She also has a Christmas EP with covers of Last Christmas, Santa Baby, Silent Night, and White Christmas. If you want to watch live performances shes done Christmas Tree Farm, Silent Night, Santa Baby, and Christmases When You Were Mine live.

Love it as always! This is in my top 3 favorite performances/songs she’s done during this Eras Tour era lol. Keep ‘em coming! Have you reacted to “right where you left me” or “it’s time to go” yet? (Maybe the title is just “time to go”…I can’t remember). I know I’ve said this before, but I’d love for you to react to “picture to burn” or “forever and always” or anything of your choice from her Debut album or Fearless Era.

Sadly Taylor only has 7 Christmas songs but if you would really like to do a 12 days of Christmas thing. The Moment I Knew, tis the damn season, Lover and Back to December could maybe flesh it out but that is still only 11, so who knows. That is my thoughts on that, good luck with it and looking forward to any and all videos. I would be curious to see a reaction to a 1989 (Taylor’s Version) song like maybe Wonderland or I Know Places or perhaps Clean? Sorry if you have reacted to any of those I haven’t watched all of them yet but I love to watch them when I have a moment and one pops up!

The out of tune singing of the person recording the video you watched definitely takes away from the song. There are clean versions of this performance out there even without watching the actual Eras Tour film. It is worth watching a clear version without some random dude thinking anyone is interested in hearing him harmonize with Taylor on this stunning song and performance. It actually isn’t a worse performance and the quality of the official video is great. This was some dude clearly recording his TV screen without any special recording equipment and stupidly singing in the background. If you haven’t seen the actual official video of this performance then you might not realize it or how much it took away from the sound quality and experience of the musical performance. You are right she is focused on the portrayal of the song more than the music in this one but it is not actually worse than the recorded version. I want to always tell people - Don’t bother recording a performance for others to see if you can’t control yourself and stay out of performance.
