I got the 7550e trying to get it reprogrammed… to local arizona police any help

I was split between this 55 zoom and the stick, for the cable analyzer, but it appears like their phone is app nomore maintained, even though they are updating the windows/mac version. But if i need to use a computer I would rather have got the RIG55!

Quick Notes: The newer versions of the AnyTone (I believe it’s the “AT-878UVii Plus”? approx $300?) includes Bluetooth audio. I’m fairly sure you cannot program the radio via Bluetooth, but the “plus” variant DOES include a PTT “dongle” type device with a single button. I don’t think it comes with an earpiece receiver. (I honestly don’t use Bluetooth for much of anything with my radios, so I didn’t even check the box for an earpiece device) OF COURSE, the Motorola XPR-7550e is far more RUGGED than the AnyTone or nearly any other brand, but the 878 series is honestly not that bad. I own both the AT-878UVii Plus and the XPR-750e, but find myself reaching for the AnyTone for daily carry and use. I no longer work in the public safety realm, so the extra durability/ruggedness doesn’t matter for me now. Some other issues: 878 is a bit “glitchy” when scanning (w/ANY amount of channels from 2 to 30 or so) 878 does NOT have MDC-1200 Signaling (key for most first responders on Analog) The audio is ok, not as loud or clear as the 7550e, but decent. BUT Volume cannot be set very low for quiet room use. It starts LOUD at 1 bar and just gets louder. BOTH radios can encode and decode QC2 (2-tone sequential paging). That is great for a volunteer firefighter or similar PERSONAL use as a (slightly larger & bulkier) replacement for a pager. It can then do everything a pager can PLUS (if authorized to & enabled) can be permitted to transmit. There is now (PowerWorx?) a dual charge battery for AnyTone ($30). Drop in charging PLUS USB-C charging! Great for emergency use or if you want to use a battery bank to charge in the field. The Motorola Impress battery is about double the price, but MUCH better overall and rapid charge is fast on the Motorola. The AnyTone includes an FM radio receiver. Volume is a bit loud though…

I wouldn't worry too much about RF levels within the shack. For a good chunk of my working life I was working 8 hours a day close to a 3 million watt radar transmitter with the 40dB gain antenna a few feet over my head. I suffered no ill effects.

I just received a rig expert 500 yesterday and have an ungodly number of problems with it and no way to really contact anyone for help except an email in ukraine. When you finally locate the manual it's in a font size smaller than anything I've ever seen in my life when you print it out, the software doesn't work on any of the three computers that I have and it screwed up the booting on two of them. When you change velocity factor in the settings it's not reflected when you go to take the measurement. The manual does not include any instructions on the functions on the second screen. To top it all off there's really no f****** help at all from the rig expert company for any of these problems they sell it to you and then tell you to go to hell.

Question: If the frequence I am trying to attain is 14.080 and my best SWR is at 12.480, do I shorten or lengthen the wire antenna? And if I shorten it, can I fold the end and wrap it around itself ?
@joshbloom96465 ай бұрын
To increase the resonant frequency of the antenna you'll shorten it. So, yes, in your case shorten the wire(s). In a perfect world, you would not wrap the antenna on itself, but I do it so I can lengthen it again when I set it up in another configuration. You can easily shorten a wire, but much harder to make it longer.

How good is Anytone in analogue mode, with problems like LED billboards, cellular BTS etc ?
@jacuswoczega91806 ай бұрын
Contact count problem is a problem with DMR network design, typical for closed companies / government institutions, inappropriate for every minute changing HAM list. Yaesu Fusion network solved this problem without any troubles. If I import DMR codeplug week ago, can be out of date and probably is. This design assumption is wrong for amateur use

Your mag mount antenna is totally silly. "Affecting resale value" is absolutely no excuse whatsoever. I bought my 2014 Subaru Outback 2.5i in April of 2014, and by June I had a professionally-installed NMO mount put into the roof. It has been there for over 10 years now with zero leaks, zero rust, zero problems -- but absolutely great antenna performance using Larsen dual-band whips -- the NMO 270 and it's shorter version. I keep my cars long-term, and if you have a Subaru Outback, you should do likewise. You'll never be able to get a better car than the one you have now. BTW what you made is not an "installation" video. It is more of a "post-installation" video. Take your Outback to a local Motorola radio shop and have them install that NMO mount. You won't regret it, and they do that sort of thing all day long, so it won't take long or cost very much.

Folks are flocking to the Apache and for good reason. They are tough. I see people commenting about the Pelican warranty but no one commenting about the Apache warranty. Is that because the Apache doesn't fail? Apache is roughly a 1/4 of the cost. Warranty or not you may never really need one. I use an Apache on the ATV, so far it's waterproof! I haven't rolled my ATV down a mountain lately so I don't know how tough it really is but at least it is waterproof. BTW you should check out the video when I did roll down a mountain. I use a Pelican box on the handle bars for quick access items. It too is waterproof. I use a Pelican for CCW needs while flying, why Pelican for flying. Simple. They made the box that fit my needs perfectly!. I just received my first NANUK (909). No mission for it yet but I may build a Go-Box for a QRP Amateur radio with it. I also have very inexpensive Plano boxes for vehicle travel. (truck bed) and they are waterproof. Seems all of them are waterproof. Oh well starting babble. Buy what you can afford and what you like. Most of these are good products.

What do you mean it won’t sync? Are you trying to program with a cable or Bluetooth? What error are you getting? Is your current CPS the same or newer than the CPS that was previously used to program the radio?

You hit the nail right on the head. I have several Motorola ID on my radios and I absolutely love them. The whole experience is great. The programming software the build quality unfortunately when I got my Anytown radio for the price, I was expecting better fit and finish better overall quality in the physical radio itself the display and so on the CPS software isn’t terrible, but it could definitely be better, but I agree with you as well. The radio was built more for amateur use versus the Motorola and we see that with the increased memory capacities, multiple bands and vfo. If the fit and finish and build quality of the Anytone radio was comparable to the Motorola, then I would be able to give it a solid 8 out of 10, but unfortunately, it’s more like a 6.5 Cost considered

I’m hoping to start operating POTA/SOTA later this year.🔉 Your Fence Dipole is interesting to see almost unique . Have you ever made DX contacts with it? 😊 Next week my Xiegu-90 should be delivered a couple weeks later the Xiegu DE-19 digital interface should arrive. I have been holding off getting into SDR Operations until there’s reasonable/ affordable one💡💡 Again appreciate your support and insights 73 Steve AA4SH

Always worry about peoples health when they say they are using an indoor antenna. Glad you mention the fact about RF and using low power to counter that as I would not want others to make this without knowing the risks. Good luck and glad you mentioned that aspect in your video it was the responsible thing to do. 73

Ummm, arent you supposed to take the measurements at the anntenna? My understanding is that readings from the radio end of the coax rather than the antenna doesnt give accurate readings. I made the same mistake until someone from our club pointed this out to me.
@joshbloom9646 Жыл бұрын
We measure the antenna first, and yes the coax can change the SWR seen at the radio. But we need to protect the radio from high SWR. So after measuring it, and attaching the coax, we adjust the length of the antenna so the radio sees the lowest possible SWR for a given frequency or band. Good luck!

Enjoyed your video…. Thank you! My problem is now that I have programmed my AnyTone D878UV, I am trying to get it to connect to my DMR hotspot and it simply won’t respond to the hotspot…. I have a Baofeng DMR handheld 1701 and it programs easy peasy when I setup the hotspot as a System Fusion hotspot running a simplex frequency, connects with no problems! But trying to program my AnyTone D878UV with a digital frequency for say Brandmeister talk group, it simply will not work! Very very frustrating……. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated Josh.
