My third time of writing regarding your work. I really admire what you do and so wish I had the ability to paint semi abstract art in the way you do. My brain continues to make me paint in same way I always have, which seems so bland against the works you are able to create. The real trouble is Geoff you make it look so very simple. Great stuff and really pleased that I have subscribed to your channel. Happy New Year and I look forward to many future uploads.
@geoffchilton678127 күн бұрын
@@mickyleachlover Thank you so much for those kind words. My work is an assimilation of many influences over the years and it’s very gradual. My advice is to keep watching videos (not just mine) of artists you like, and reading art books and everything else you think might help. It’ll all fall into place gradually. There’s a lot of crap on KZbin - videos done by people who don’t really know how to paint, so you have to be selective. There’s nothing wrong with copying styles of artists you like - that’s how we learn - and try and incorporate them into your own. Rest assured I’ll be making more videos soon. If there’s anything in particular you’d like me to tackle, let me know and I’ll try and build it in. Thank you again.

I commented upon one of your other uploads which I thought was so enjoyable to watch you produce. I rather stupidly didn't see that you were painting in Acrylics. I really do admire how you are able to just "let yourself go" and end up with something so interesting in application and composition. I would really love to be able to get into my art with the effort and creativity you show. Enjoying your uploads very much. Keep painting and posting.
@geoffchilton6781Ай бұрын
@@mickyleachlover Thanks. That’s my intention. I think the main thing is not to worry about your painting looking like anything. Don’t worry about what anyone will think or say about your work. Just let go and do it! Thanks again for watching. Keep painting!

A really nice and also very inventive piece of artwork. I must admit to never seeing quite so many different mediums used in one painting! I would have thought using some of them over a wet oil painting would have made them very difficult to apply. However the final piece is really quite impressive. It was also quite interesting how you turned what some would have thought, a rather bland subject matter, into an enjoyable video. Many thanks for posting Geoff
@geoffchilton6781Ай бұрын
@@mickyleachlover Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. The base painting was done with acrylics. It’s much slower and harder to do with oils. Once the acrylics are dry you can apply pretty much anything over the top. I love combining painting and drawing in the same work.

Thank you. The sketchbooks are nothing special. They’re Jackson’s own A3 and A4 soft back ones. I think the paper is 140gsm. I don’t buy anything expensive because they end up being generally squashed and mangled. They’re just for working sketches.

I love my sketchbooks they are where I experiment and rough out ideas for finished work I also doodle something nearly every day in them, although at the moment I have become fascinated with fountain pens and small fishing boats.
