Keeping a Sketchbook

I love my sketchbooks they are where I experiment and rough out ideas for finished work I also doodle something nearly every day in them, although at the moment I have become fascinated with fountain pens and small fishing boats. A sketchbook helps you understand the DNA and sense of place before you commit to expensive paper.

Your sketches are amazing! Which sketchbook do you use ?

Thank you. The sketchbooks are nothing special. They’re Jackson’s own A3 and A4 soft back ones. I think the paper is 140gsm. I don’t buy anything expensive because they end up being generally squashed and mangled. They’re just for working sketches.

@@davewilkins9981 I use Jackson’s 140gsm cartridge paper sketchbooks. They’re cheap but I go through too many to buy expensive ones. They take paint okay so it’s good enough for me!
