Robert Shaw was extraordinary intelligent. He wrote fuve novels snd was writting 6 when he suddenly died from a hesrtattack. He liked acting but he loved writting. He was quite frustrated for the fact rhat even though the critics said very possitive things about his novels,he wasnt known for hiis novels too, that why he said he would fight for being known also as a novelist. In his personal life he was a warmhearted man, great sense of humour, sarcastic, fantastic, always said what he thought without caring a damn.I will miss him every day of my life.I have watched his films since I was around 9-10 with my own dad,who was gone also very soon in 2014.I wish both were still here.❤

Rest in Peace to Judith Barsi (1978-1988). She played Thea Brody in the film. She was also the voice of Ducky in the first original "Land Before Time", as well as Anne-Marie in "All Dogs Go to Heaven"

A question that needs answering is what happened to the editing when Hooper was looking at the girl's remains in the lab - he picks up her arm and suddenly and completely out of context says, 'So this is what happens...' What happens - where, when, how...? Anyone any ideas...?
I was never bothered by the "so this is what happens..." part of the edit. It's not really out of context because he says it as the severed arm is shown as if explaining "so this is what happens when a shark attacks and devours someone". That's how I interpreted that part. It's the sentence right after that doesn't make much sense because it's edited in mid sentence. "So this is what happens... indicates the non frenzy feeding...". That mid sentence edit was always the part that I wondered about.

I always thought they changed the date to match Kintner's death. This is a great find. TBH the whole timeline of the film is a little messy. Brody's "corners" report gives Watkins death as July 1st! But they were writing it on the fly so...

The bottom line is that they were making "just another movie" and at a time when Video and DVD was science fiction. They would never have dreamed that it would be watched and analyzed in the way it has been. As far as the movie makers were concerned the speech would have been good enough and Sackler Gottlieb and Milius would have had to go find a library (no internet back then) to confirm dates and I doubt they could have been bothered, they were cold, tired and wanted off the Island. They simply wanted the take in the can.

I thought the idea for the Indianapolis came from John Milius.

Thanks guys. Always wondered about that error. If only someone had double-checked and done a little research, the error might have been discovered during filming. Still, the greatest movie ever made.

Shaw rewrote the entire speech himself.

4 views a year, Carver? I've just added a 300 sq ft extension to my house to fit another 12 television screens playing Jaws on a loop, to compliment the other 30 distributed in every room.

Great trio of vlogs guys Thanks Ross & Dan JAWS, during cinema's heyday ! When YOU knew what was about to happen & the "1st time" newbies sat nearby obviously didn't ! :) Genius authentic filmmaking. Spielberg & Verna Fields splicing together a Masterpiece.

It was a classified mission and the Navy didn’t de-classify the real date until after Jaws came out so the book and actors thought they had the accurate date.

The NECA Brody figure getting canned is one of the great Jaws collecting disappointments. Such a huge void in that line without Brody, and seems like it kind of killed the line as a whole. I keep hoping maybe someday they'll be able to come to an agreement with the Scheider estate and go back to it, but it seems less and less likely as time goes on.

I was thinking the same thing. I always hope they can circle back to an agreement with the Scheider estate. I would really love to see that figure get released.
