Just read it myself. An abusive miscarriage of justice, a senseless waste of life and an incredible story of courage and survival. TheNavy thought they'd buried the story until a kid did a high school project on it in something like 1966 (?). John Milius was able to use it to craft Quints monologue.

that Quint speech, done over two days of filming, really shows how Great the editing is in Jaws. hence the oscar award. // one day's worth with shaw drunk as a skunk to the point he could not work. the next day as sober as a member of the AA.

i want to see the Mayor's side of the story made into a film. // JAWS: the 5 Families of Amity. four of the Families are real locals from the island, with one Family connected to NY/NJ mobs. all from the Mayor's Point of View. Only the scenes of the Mayor from JAWS would be re shot and used. Add then the 5 Families and how they speak and deal with the news, the mayor (phone calls and in person meetings Never seen in JAWS). No scenes of the shark but those scenes from JAWS where either Mayor V is or members of the 5 Families. for example. the beach scene with the kids using the fake fin should be in this Opus, but scenes (from JAWS) that do not include the Mayor should not be included.// JAWS the 5 Families, would be a story about HOW the Mayor had to handle the Families that really Run Amity Island. 'martin, my kids were on that beach too'. // every scene the Mayor is in, those scenes be re done with new actors. then add all the scenes of the Mayor with His 5 Fs. a drama, not a action packed opus. // and then some of the Mob related stories in JAWS can be fleshed out. i wish Mr. B's widow write the story JAWS: the 5 Families of Amity'. //

11:30// i always thought Quint's 'i'll never put a life jacket on again', was a reference to the Non wearers of Lifejackets were getting Picked up 1st, by the rescuers. i could be wrong, but that is how i took it. a life jacket makes a person a target, but the pilots of planes, or captains of ships, do not know better and May day First pick up sailors that are not wearing a lifejacket. // thanks for the interview. terrible THING to send men to their depths, but they did carry A Bomb. just stating the obvious.
