What he says at around 2:50 though; 25 ft (7,62 m) shark, 8000 Ibs (3629 Kg) and 1000 Hp engine to move the whole structure built with aerospace tech all over the place.... that was in 1999. @@dvb8637 Not a chance. I was born in ‘96 with Deep blue sea being in my opinion the best shark film ever and I have seem most of them and yes Jaws looks fake asf to someone of my generation. But as a film it is superior and to say the quality and graphics FOR THAT time were bad is a ridiculous thing to say. The people that would of watched that in the 70’s would have been in awe at how well that movie looked at the time, you have to bare in mind an audience had never seen anything like Jaws before and for most folks it would of been their first real exposure to the what could be out there side of sharks as a lot of people back then wouldn’t of known any better or been as documented. The only problem however is Jaws was the beginning of where sharks became unrealistically villainised in film. You are either roughly the same age or younger than me that doesn’t see the true cinematic detail the movie produced as some others see it. Respectfully.

Everyone left the cinema high fiving each other like we were also one of the survivors. One of my best teenage memories.

Aside from a couple of questionable CGI scenes, this movie nailed it with the sharks. Still the best and most exciting one after Jaws. I really enjoyed this film personally. These corporations weren’t trying to play god. They were trying to find a cure for a rare brain disease. And they had to test it on subjects. Human trials are too dangerous, so they tried with Sharks because of their brain capacities. As a side effect of the drugs to their brains, the sharks got smarter. Flooding the facility to get the fences out of the way for freedom. And the horror music was absolutely damn good. Kids would be horrified by that. First time I watched it, it was for a movie night. 11-12 years old. What does an 8,000lb Mako Shark with a brain the size V-8 engine with no natural predators think about? Freedom. The second film was all about playing god.
