That was my first car, but it was a 1972 vw camper. Loved that car. I tried buying againbut my wife said no, i did not need a motel on wheels. I still miss that car from so many years ago. Thanks for bringing back those old days, and have a fantastic life

My wife and I own a 76 orange Westy. Fully restored, that is until I realized it needs a new alternator and brake cylinder. Should be fixed by next week. The Bus is my fantasy vehicle and we have a blast in it. Happy to see you camping in yours. We did a 4 day Vermont camping trip this summer and it was so much fun sleeping up in the pop top bed. Dream come true. Why is this your last solo trip?.

It appears the auxiliary heater is gone. Is that correct? I recently sold Vango's brother, Big Howie (because we had a VW bug called Howard), with the exact same features and colors. Big Howie had been in our family since 1985. Lots of great experiences and fond memories. I see Vango is advertised and looks great. I'm sure it will sell and provide lots of fun and adventure for the new owner.

When I’m at a gas station with my ‘76 VW van, I put in air buds before starting to fill up. That keeps most people away who want to spend 15 minutes reminiscing about their long lost VW. 😜

Nice relaxing adventure man. Btw, our campers are very similar. Mine's a 1978 Westfalia. I was wondering about that external plug setup of yours. I have a similar place on the outside of my camper, but it's bolted shut. I always thought maybe it's screws that hold the closet/stove in place (because they're on the other side of the panel).

Once the metal work is done will you be blending the paint?

During a previous repaint there is still a defined line from the gravel guard, so the paint will be brought up to the same line. Will try to have him blend on one part. Main thing is the rusty metal will be properly replaced.

Nice bug. Not perfect as you said, but definitely easy to bring back to what it as. Somehow, the wide white wall tires don't go well with VWs. I"ve had many, all before '68, and never cared for those side walls. Hope you got a good price for it and that it still looking good and being driven. The "deluxe" model should have had the pop outs rear windows, and I see it had the radio. Good looking, and great engine sound.

Can you please see if you can do more exactly like this one and this exact same format but in the next one hammer down on the accelerator a little harder does this thing sounds great stay safe man and have a great one. @@curiousdude3196 I know it won’t go much faster than that but because I’ve seen videos like that before a long time ago, but just the sound of the high RPMs I love that that’s why I like hearing that because when you hammer down you get the really high RPM up shifts or the really high RPM accelerations rather like a two-stroke Detroit and I absolutely love that that’s why I was asking if you could do that stay safe and have a great one

I don't think the stove in my 79 Westy has ever been used.😂 Great idea! Always nice to have options. Last I checked we could buy replacement propane tank systems for around $400. I guess it's a matter of how much you want to cook inside. My stove is deep inside while yours is right by the door, so the cooking fumes present concerns. Nice looking bus my friend 😍

In this case the van is a Canadian VW and I always assumed it arrived from the factory installed. If you are correct then it must have been installed at the dealership as the original photo of the van a week after delivery shows the full spare.

@@curiousdude3196 mine is Canadian as well, these were often installed by dealers, to free up space in the rear bed area. Yours came with a space-saver, but customers didn’t want the hassle of packing compressors or canned air. Some people thought the tire would provide some protection in a front crash.

I’m not exactly sure to be honest. The M plate doesn’t have a typical number on it like the older models. I do know the layout was unique to 1973/74 Campmobile Deluxe Westfalia models though based on the camping manual.
