I felt this day one. The moment this was released my first issue was 1) This is only lasting as long as the system it's on And 2) How does Sony and more importantly MM see this as ethical in any way? Like... What an abominable waste of theirs AND OUR talents! So I didn't jump fully in and waited for a port... That never came. Nothing has matched Dreams and still... No port is forthcoming. Such a waste.

7:27 "It turns out that making a game, is a lot of hard work" i think the fundamental issue you've run into, is that the platform is too new (at least at the time of the publishing of this video), but also too limited. You're right, it's all tech demos, at least at the time of your upload. This is because games take a while, especially when it's not full-time. Thus, you're liked to what people have had time to create. You're also limited to individuals. Where game design is normally a group effort of at least a few people, Dreams has never had any ability to work together and collaborate. It's simply lacking in that capability. Thus, the grander and deeper scopes of full games were simply unachievable, and last i heard with the support pulled, likely to stay that way. Sony never understood what it had and it shows from their failure to market it. I'm not sure even media molecule quite understood what they had until the end when it was released. They marketed it and sold it as a game. However, it's not a game. It's a game engine. But no-one treated it that way.

10:20- I would personally like to find a way to make this a reality (i just don’t have the knowledge of how to do it 🤷♂️), but i maybe one day someone will read my comment and reach out with assistance…?!

Honestly, - Have it pre installed on any future PS console - Make it multi platform, its free on playstation now so they dont have anything to lose. - Encourage people to make longer games. Maybe add a "Long game" tab in the online section. - Add an export feature (Probably exclusive to PC, But you WOULD be able to transfer your console made things onto your PC) - Basically make it an actual game engine, let users SELL their creations.

All the gates, sensors, logic, microchips. I was amazing with all that as a kid. I would make complex things with that. I wasn't good at the art of creating levels but electronics, sheeesh.

@Pogomix I love that you actually give a definition of motivation with this. I got a ton of 'motivational' crap thrown at me in the army, to include books and podcasts by other vets. Very few of those ever tried defining 'motivation', and I think because most of them are actually dependent on ego. And what they market to their readers as 'motivational self help' is really closer to 'heres how I developed my g-d complex and you can to' lol. Love your work Mr. Pogo. Please keep producing great music and videos like this. I hope I can meet you in person some day.

Yeah I dunno reading the comments there's a lot of "it's all about true creativity maaan it doesn't have to be profitable or have an end goal" but in reality that's bad for creators and and stifles creators fully realising their creative vision, the proof being all the unfinished demo games Creators should be able to do what they want with their creation that they spent 100s of hours on, share it where they want, try to monetise it, release it for free, export it to other software etc etc. The limitations of dreams are super lame and trying to brand it as some pure untainted creativity thing is cope
@lethaldosegame3 ай бұрын
Dreams makes much more as a standalone piece of software with a monetisation model similar to Roblox, and being able to export your games to PC, Mac and consoles. Much more appealing for gamers since they can play games for free on whatever platform. Much more profitable for Sony, it could be a money printing machine like Roblox. Like you I mostly create for the joy of creation, but creating games purely for this reason alone results in many small demos and proofs of concepts, and barely any fully finished games that gamers want to play
