Why would you keep someone in your home who hurts you. Stop they one day when you are old they could put you in an unalive state.no way would i ever do this ever. wouldn't you think him being in a facility would help him more . He literally is chasing you both to do bodily harm . Whats gonna happen when youre too old to give a bath and drive . Who would want to spend their years doing this . Truly heartbreaking youre job was done when he turned 18 . Chasing you to hurt you is evil.

He definitely understands that he can't see them, but he probably is frustrated and doesn't get why. Understandable. I get upset when I'm unexpectedly disappointed and struggling to process too. Plus, I can swear explosively or tell people what I'm feeling. Logan is doing that, in his own way. Wish we could find some way to help that part of Autism for us people. Parts can be great, but that loss of control feels much more awful than it looks. You're a great Dad for being so understanding. That really makes all the difference in the world. Trust me, it'd be worse if you don't meet us where we are at because we're gone and we can't get back on our own.

Thank you for the very insightful comment and kind words! That means a lot. I love getting these kind of comments and insights from individuals that are autistic. It really helps me to better understand Logan. Logan is non-verbal, so he can't tell us how he is feeling or if he has any physical pain. It is hard on us because we are always guessing, but I know for sure that it is way harder on him. No doubt about it. All I can do is love him unconditionally and try to help him get through it. Thank You!

Logan is super sensitive to many things too. In general he does not like to be touched, especially his hands. He also hates having his hair, fingernails and toenails cut. He went through a long phase where he would not wear shoes. I can't imagine what it would be like to struggle with those things.

@LogansAutism
@LogansAutism 29 күн бұрын
Yes, we certainly know that feeling. In a meltdown (agitated/aggressive) situation, Logan will try to pinch our hands and arms with his fingernails. Yep, it hurts! We always wear long-sleeve shirts or sweatshirts around the house just in case. That way we can pull the sleeves down over our hands very quickly to protect them. However, sometimes it just happens too fast and he will get our hands and arms. Never feet though - we have never had that happen. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Do you have trouble clipping your son's fingernails too? Logan hates having his fingernails clipped.

@@AnysDaniel That is the kind of stress that only parents of special needs kids would understand. My only hope is that it gets better for your son. When Logan was younger, haircuts were a 3-person job. I would bear-hug him, my wife would hold his legs and somebody to cut his hair quickly. Now, he still hates haircuts, but he will tolerate it for about 5 minutes and I can do it by myself. One day at a time....

Did u know u can buy autism friendly hair clippers on Amazon
@LogansAutism
@LogansAutism 29 күн бұрын
I do see some on there that are supposed to be quieter, but it looks like they are made for babies. Maybe that would still work though. I also see some that have scissors attached to clipper guards. Those would not work because Logan hates scissors as much as he hates the clippers and I can't sacrifice speed with the haircuts. Have you ever used any of the models that are designed for babies or can you recommend a specific one on Amazon? Willing to give one a shot. Just not sure if these would work on a full grown man like Logan. Thank you for the suggestion!

Maybe give a sensory room he can go too to get through his meltdowns.
@LogansAutism
@LogansAutism Ай бұрын
Logan's sensory calming activities are riding in a car and taking baths. These 2 activities help him with sensory regulation and calming down. Needless to say we do A LOT of car rides and give Logan A LOT of baths to help him with this. Sensory rooms are a great option for many autistic individuals and help them with regulation, however it really doesn't help Logan for whatever reason. Good suggestion though and thank you for the comment!

@LogansAutism
@LogansAutism Ай бұрын
@raphametzger6690 Up until 5 years ago we used to take him to a stylist. We would go during the off hours when nobody else was there and she had a small TV with a VCR so we could play a movie while Logan got his hair cut. That lady went out of business and I just started cutting it at home since then. It only takes me 4 minutes to cut his hair and there are no other people around like at a busy barber shop or something, so right now cutting his hair at home is really the best situation for all of us.
