Autism Haircut. Will Logan have a MELTDOWN before I finish his HAIRCUT? This one was STRESSFUL.

Well, it's haircut day. Logan hates haircuts. Autistic people, in general, struggle with haircuts. It is a serious sensory overload situation. Stressful on him and stressful on me. Before this haircut even begins, he is already starting out a little agitated. Will I finish the haircut before he has a meltdown? That is the question. This one was quite stressful.

When Logan was younger, haircuts were a 3-person job. I would have to bearhug him, my wife would hold his legs so he wouldn't kick, and then somebody to cut his hair. He tolerates haircuts a little better now, but he still hates them. Gotta go as fast as I can! Hopefully your boy will tolerate them a little better when he get's older too.

@@Autismfamilymacrid Does your son also have a hard time with having his fingernails and toenails cut? Logan hates that stuff too. These kiddos are just wired differently and their senses get overloaded by stuff that seems so normal to the rest of us. I wish Logan could tell me what he is really feeling. @@LogansAutism yes that's a no go also,he bites he's aswel really badly even he's toe nails,iv had to put creams on he's thumbs from the doctor he's bite them that bad they was getting infected,I try to do that bit while he's asleep but any slightest touch he's awake,he suffers with night terrors aswel really bad,he's not a cuddly child either even if he hurts himself he will cry we will pick him up but he will push away till you put him down,it's heartbreaking when all you want to do ismake them feel better and they won't let you,he's non verbal so can't tell us anything either but yet he copies words and repeats them for ages and loves numbers and letters and shapes,he's got a thing for clocks at the minute lol

@@Autismfamilymacrid You are not alone. The only people who truly understand what we go through are other parents that are in the same boat. Nothing about our life is easy. Logan has a lot of the same traits as your son. He is non-communicative and he doesn't like to be touched either. Logan also repeats lines from songs and movie lines over and over again. Hang in there!

I do see some on there that are supposed to be quieter, but it looks like they are made for babies. Maybe that would still work though. I also see some that have scissors attached to clipper guards. Those would not work because Logan hates scissors as much as he hates the clippers and I can't sacrifice speed with the haircuts. Have you ever used any of the models that are designed for babies or can you recommend a specific one on Amazon? Willing to give one a shot. Just not sure if these would work on a full grown man like Logan. Thank you for the suggestion!

Wow - seeing a comment like that motivates me to make more videos! I will certainly do my best to upload videos regularly. I try to get about one a week, but it doesn't always work out that way. March was a really tough month with Logan, so it was hard to find the time to do video's in March. I will do my best going forward though! Thank you for the comment.

@raphametzger6690 Up until 5 years ago we used to take him to a stylist. We would go during the off hours when nobody else was there and she had a small TV with a VCR so we could play a movie while Logan got his hair cut. That lady went out of business and I just started cutting it at home since then. It only takes me 4 minutes to cut his hair and there are no other people around like at a busy barber shop or something, so right now cutting his hair at home is really the best situation for all of us.

Yes, he did a good job! He hates haircuts. He just somehow manages to get through them. When he was younger, it took 3 people to cut his hair. Me to bear hug him, Gina to hold his legs and somebody to cut his hair. He has come a long way!
