hi man, one thing I struggle with is knowing what my goals are in processes. For example, I don't know what my goal is for the pre - mix and master in the way that I'm not sure how much effort I should put in perfecting drum groove (switching samples for minutes/hours), how perfect I should try to nail my low-end (switching kicks and basses, or writing new basslines). At some point in the process it feels like I made it too complicated and it is a mess now (also because I mix and process during production) and I start something new. I feel like the best workflow and creations are the most simple, songs don't need 50 tracks, yet listening to my references, they sound so pro, clean and complicated in a way to achieve (especially low end). have u got any advice for me? what is a good structure of producing a track from start to end.

btw, I am more an advanced producer then starter/intermediate in knowledge , yet still struggling
@croco.nation2 ай бұрын
Hey! These are all great questions. I can only really give some general advice on here since I’m limited on the comments and there’s a ton to cover. 1. Use high quality samples to avoid over processing. Normally, you can’t really make crap sound good with a bunch of processing (there are some rare exceptions). 2. Use a reference track to see what direction you want to take the song to and mark where the intro is, build ups, chorus/drops are. This will help you with arrangement. You can also google “house music arrangement” or any genre to get a visual idea as well. The sound waves on the reference tracks will also give you a good idea. 3. Processing: leverage the big 3 (saturation, eq, compression). A little bit of all 3 is more than enough to get a solid mix. Don’t worry about fancy plug ins. The basics will get you to a pro level. 4. Use a spectrum analyzer like span to reference other tracks high level mixing and levels. This will help you get your mix some what close to your favorite artists tracks. 5. Don’t over think it. Focus on arrangement by referencing, basic eq,sat, comp, and use high quality samples. You don’t need to be perfect. Just make your song playable. I plan to make a series on the specifics to get people gig/label ready. My other videos cover some low end tips to help you with that as well. There’s a lot to go over with these questions but I hope this gives you some general guidance 🙏🏼
