So I’ve a 24f and it’s time to replace because hasn’t been replaced since a year ago. However, we’re having trouble ordering because they said the placement was 24f 15cm 8mm button peg tube. We are doing a balloon this time but the surgeon that did the placement retired and no surgical notes saying what brand of tube I have or a reorder number. The hospital gave me a a paper saying I have a 24f 8mm button peg but my new GI said because the package says 8mm that it’s a ballon tube and not a button.. I’m so confused, I know I have a 24f 15cm peg tube but I don’t know what 8mm means

My husband just got an 18 french gj tube with a balloon about a week ago. Can I feed him blenderized? It is my current understanding that the g is for meds, and the j is for food. He is doing ok on Kate Farms 1.4, 24/7, but I do think he will do better with some soup (adding broth from homemade soup to help add/keep nutrients) He is currently very iron deficient anemic 20 and 9 sat, and has had only tube feeds for about 2 months after a subarachnoid hemorrhage. He was initially og and switched to ng about a month ago. he has a trach and is basically immobile and nonverbal.

Would you please clarify something? You are pointing around the tube but saying diameter. Do you mean to say circumference? I am trying to buy an adapter for my husbands peg tube and need to know the french size. The tube doesn't say anywhere on it. I have a call into the surgeon's office, but i am not holding my breath. The surgical notes do not have that information documented. Thanks

I made this recipe today. It is the first blended meal I tried with this consistency, using the syringe method. I must have cut and measured wrong because I ended up with 22 oz in the blender. so, I made it into 2 meals. I am so excited to have something other than a commercial formula. I hope some of your future recipes with have some measurements that include grams or ounces to help us come up with the same thing we see on your channel. Thank you so much for what you are doing. You are a blessing and answer to my prayers.

Just a quick question. Do you take into account the acidic or alkaline values in the ingredients? I am currently using organic commercial formulas, certain medications. yet my doctor. who does the tube exchange by endoscopy discovered I have gastritis and wants to give me a medication to curb the inflammatory condition in my stomach. I want to find the root cause, make adjustments and heal naturally. After some research I found my water is on the acidic side, so I am making an adjustment there. I'm also reviewing the alkaline/acidic chart to compare my food ingredients. I am interested in personalized designed blended recipes like you do to have more control over the ingredients, and I'm hoping your recipes will help in my goals for healthy eating. Thank you for any help you can tell me about your recipes.

When I blend rice and vegetable broth , it turns into a gluey mess. Any ideas?
@NaturalTubeFeeding
@NaturalTubeFeeding 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy! Rice can be tricky to blend because it is so starchy and can absorb so much liquid. In my experience, long grain rice (Basmati for example) blends much better than short grain rice. It's also helpful to cook the rice with some extra water because it will absorb less water when you go to blend it. Using some veggies in your blend will probably help the overall consistency because blending rice alone means that your blend will be super starchy and starch=gluey. My final tip is to use plenty of liquid and blend long enough that the rice is totally broken down but don't keep blending past that point because it will just get thicker and thicker. Also, starchy blends are always best used right away as they tend to thicken a lot when stored. I hope this helps! There's a ton of info about how to make easy, smooth, nutritious blends in my online course. You can check it out on my website. www.naturaltubefeeding.com All the best!

Can I put this in my dad’s peg tube ? Thanks 🙏
@NaturalTubeFeeding
@NaturalTubeFeeding 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Zee. It's designed for any tube that is at least 14 French or larger. Most PEG tubes are at least 14 French but you can always ask your Dad's healthcare team to confirm. Thanks for your question and all the best to you and your dad.

@NaturalTubeFeeding
@NaturalTubeFeeding 2 жыл бұрын
We usually would only suggest blended food for use through tubes that are at least 14 French in size. Blends can be relatively thick if fed by syringe but for pumps it does need to be somewhat thinner. Check out my online course as I explain in details how thick blends can be and why thinner blends aren't necessarily a good thing when it comes to getting adequate nutrition on a blended diet.

Hi Claire, I have a question. In your tube sizing video you mention 14 French is the minimum for blended diets... my dad was given a 16 French (with the water balloon)... is that still doable? You mention that the tube ends up being smaller with the water balloon feature because of the seperate compartment so I'm not sure now if he is a candidate for the blended diet... your thoughts?
@NaturalTubeFeeding
@NaturalTubeFeeding 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching my videos :) Yes, it's definitely doable. The inner size of a 16 French balloon retention tube is about 14 French. Definitely large enough for a blended diet. Be sure to get the ok from his healthcare team before starting to blend. All the best to you both!

The problem with blended meals for an adult male, most won’t go through a feeding tube and diluting reduces the calories.
@NaturalTubeFeeding
@NaturalTubeFeeding 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Paula. This is a challenge that I cover in quite a lot of detail in the course. Very true that a thinner texture goes through the tube most easily and often thinner blends are lower in calories. In the course I talk about how to get that perfect texture without diluting. Basically, the goal is to get a one calorie per mL concentration. So if you make a blend that is 500 mL, it should have at least 500 calories. This requires a strategic approach with ingredient selection, but I give a list of calorie and protein boosting foods and I designed 2 recipe templates that help make it easy. All the best to you and your family. Thanks for watching!

How do you determin what French size you need?
@NaturalTubeFeeding
@NaturalTubeFeeding 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Hege. Thanks for your question. Generally the initial French size is determined by the physician who is inserting the tube and it depends on the age/size of the person and type of tube. At the hospital where I work, we usually use 20 French G-tubes and 14 French J tubes for adults. Kids would have smaller French sizes.

What blender do you tend to have the best out to come with?
@NaturalTubeFeeding
@NaturalTubeFeeding 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel! Thanks for watching my video! If you want to make large batches of blended food for your son, something like a Vitamix or Blendtec are great because they are powerful and have large cups. At a lower price point, the Ninja is great. I also recommend the Nutribullet because it has great power and isn't expensive. Its cups are pretty small though so it's best for small batch blending or blending single serving meals. You can take a look at all of these products on my store page: www.naturaltubefeeding.com/store
