Thanks for this, I'm looking to blend foods for my son that is in rehab and we will be continuing his rehab at home. He was in a motorcycle accident july 2020 and has a tbi. This is very helpful, please continue your KZbin because there isn't much support from the hospitals about this subject.

What blender do you tend to have the best out to come with?

Hi Rachel! Thanks for watching my video! If you want to make large batches of blended food for your son, something like a Vitamix or Blendtec are great because they are powerful and have large cups. At a lower price point, the Ninja is great. I also recommend the Nutribullet because it has great power and isn't expensive. Its cups are pretty small though so it's best for small batch blending or blending single serving meals. You can take a look at all of these products on my store page: www.naturaltubefeeding.com/store

i have ALS and am currently between feeding tubes due to several complications. Granulation tissue was a major problem. Is there any way to keep it from forming? Or is this always going to be a problem fo me?

Hi Rhonda. At this time, no. I would love to work on keto recipes but I'm very short on time so I have no idea when I will be able to do so!

My dad has a gtube. He was doing fine. Went to the ER to get a replacement because his old one fell out. The doctor gave him a different looking one. He goes home and was in a lot of pain for 4 days. I took him back to the ER and they did a couple of tests but told me there is nothing wrong and the tube is in the right place. My dad continues to have a lot of pain and is now not eating by mouth which he was doing prior to getting the replacement. He would hold the site all the time like it is painful. By the way, my dad has Aphasia so he can not communicate what is happening to him. My question is, when the replacement tube was put in, the external bumper was about 6” up from the opening. Is it supposed to be that long because the old one wasnt. So what I did was pull the bumper closer to the opening. Now, the bumper is about a inch and a half away from the opening. Dad still has pain. Should the bumper be closer to the opening?

Hi David. Thanks for you comment. It sounds to me like the external bumper needs to be lowered to just above the skin level. I generally like to see my patients having just the space large enough to slide a nickel under the external bumper between the skin. 6 inches is concerning. I would encourage you to get in to see his GP to show them this, and see about correcting the position of the external bumper so that the tube will stay in the right place. The risk of having extra space between the skin and external bumper is that it can allow the tube to go too far into the body and the internal bumper can even block the stomach exit in rare cases, making the person quite sick. That said, this is just my initial impression from your comment and I would encourage you to seek input from your dad's healthcare providers as I am not in a position to provide medical advice via KZbin. Best of luck to you and your Dad.

@@NaturalTubeFeeding Yes, I figured the tubing was too long. The weird thing is, the ER doctor placed it that way and I am new to this because my dad just had the gtube put in in March. Weirdly enough, after 4 days of pain after the replacement, I took him back to the ER again and the same doctor saw him and told me there was nothing wrong. Does he not know where the external bumper should be? He sent my dad home the same way he left. Ima going to take him to his primary doctor tomorrow morning, but for some reason, I doubt she will know what to do. I am so frustrated. I feel horrible watching my dad in pain and discomfort. I read it might be the wrong gtube as well. That might be the problem, but I don’t know. I’ll info the doctor about it tomorrow. Thank you very much for helping me out.
