I do 1 minute faces. Paint with a flesh colour and then wash the eyes and mouth with Agrax earthshade lol.

I think what could be fun is have a guest on and you each have to pick each others palettes for a model. Then maybe halfway switch palettes and see if the resulting models you each end up with tie into a cohesive scheme, but in each of your different styles and direction.

A note about the Resin and FDM printed models, resin models get you more detail but often are a bit more expensive and sometimes a bit brittle. The mimic you got seems to be a bit overpriced, at least for what I would charge for that, that price usually netting you probably 2 of that size, maybe more if bundled with other items. The others are about right in price however. And yes they really should have mentioned scale of the models somewhere in the description. The FDM models are priced about correct, but really fdm printing should be reserved for larger things where resin would be cost prohibitive, or things where fine detail wouldnt have mattered. That item you have would best used as scatter terrain, but if you wanted diorama levels of detail, definitly not a good choice. They also REALLY should have mentioned it was FDM though

his perpetual water cup of dirty water hits home. Ive got one too. Though I use two cups, one dirty to wash my brush, then another to kinda rinse the dirty water out. once the "clean" cup starts to get dirty I dump the dirty water cup and fill with with clean water and the old clean cup becomes my new dirty cup. And yes, ill sometimes have a 3rd "dirty" cup for metallics The brush wash thing though looks to be about the size of 2 cups, so unless im painting metallics i dont think it saves much space

Personally I'd go with something with a bit more colour pop on then so when you look at them on the table they look cohesive and stand out for the majority of the force and maybe tone back the assassins. I feel that a browny mucky grey force isbkind of lost on a table top.

The light i've been using for a few years was actually a scam. They are "grow lights" that alleged full spectrum visible light, I got on Amazon for like $30. I never saw an improvement with my indoor herb garden. Then I decided to try them with my 3D prints, as they ALLEGED to give off the same UV frequency that my resin cures for. Left a model under them for about an hour and it was no more cured than when I had pulled it out of the printer. So they VERY obviously after both of those use cases were not UV lights. HOWEVER they came as 3 lights on flexible necks, so I discovered I could use them to get VERY good lighting on my minis when painting, so that is how I use them.

I cant put magnets on my minis because i do digital DND maps on a TV screen we put minis directly on.

Definitely loincloth and not lioncloth. It's the piece of cloth that covers your loins, as in the parts that you manscape Fruit of your loins in literary sense means your children. Nothing to do with lions, which you don't want anywhere near there. Completely nuts, right? Edit: Best part of the model for me is the skin tone. It hints at a atmospheric lighting effect, as if he's standing near a fire or an explosion. I think that the darker blue tone might've worked really well to tone the shady side. Also that sky blue is beaut.

This was a great video. I love seeing the technique, I love the fact that it was an experiment where you got to do some theory crafting then we got to watch you apply the things you were talking about. I have been prepping to make a serious attempt at faces and this video crammed so much into a short amount of time it was the best video on the subject that I’ve watched so far.

Cool vid. I wish this was about when i painted a few hundred rats in my skaven army. I used white primer, thinned regular paints then washed the whole model with agrax earthshade. The important models got more effort. The overall look was fantastic and it won me best painted in the only tournament I entered

I think another big part of this is that the miniatures almost feel more real if that makes sense? Obviously space marines marines will have a uniform, but for all the other armies where they’re not a tightly organized machine it’s got to be really refreshing if you put a bunch of these on the table. One issue I could see, and a video suggestion, is whether you could make this work on an ork. The other human (or human like) races have the same warm skin colors and even the Tau have a light blue/grey which isn’t difficult given constraints, but how could you work this with orks? Otherwise, awesome video, seen your channel around a bunch but your color cube videos have gotten me to subscribe and I’m looking forward to all your future content!
