I was given money to play the game, AND given the game so i had such a low barrier of entry - even then I was struggling sometimes to finish the game. I don't think I would have finished this game if I was just playing solo, stream happened to make it more fun but I'm just really bad with RPG's in general.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say overrated. I can understand it being a chore. Everyone has their own preferences for games, and the slow progression of bg3 isn’t for everyone. However, calling it overrated is simply untrue. GOTY winner, 15 million copies sold, and overwhelmingly positive reviews on every platform. It’s by no means overrated. It’s an absolute masterpiece of a game, but as stated before, not every masterpiece is for every person. As the Helldivers CEO said, a game made for everybody is a game made for nobody. Everyone looks for something different in their games.

The word overrated doesn't really make any sense - usually is said when someone has false expectations of something, happens easily when people hype a piece of media and it's not for you. I understand it's hard to ignore hype around products, which is why marketing and social media works the way it does - but I personally try to avoid blaming the product if I've had false expectations as it's a bit of a personal failure at that point. But I'm very cynical, with very VERY low, if any expectations and 0 hype so it's easy to do. I understand it's not the same for everyone so I don't get too upset about it.

@Cearadeth hype? False expectations? This game is a never ending circus of content and praise. No one discusses its flaws. It's good. But not the second coming that everyone treats it as.

@himynamese8567 don't get me wrong, I respect the hell out of it, the performances, the work ethic and the good business practices. I'm sad I can't enjoy it more. Personally, sales mean nothing to me. Dead Space never sold well (or to EAs expectations) but it's an amazing experience. Dice rolls though? No. Why put points into an attribute, into a skill or "choice" only to have the chance of dice to decide for you? I hate it. With games like these, it always feels like I'm playing it wrong. Like there is an optimal, mathematical way of playing it "correctly " that always lurks in the back of my mind. Shall we say the suspension of disbelief is weak for this game. I'm jealous of those who enjoy this game, truly.

It's a cheeky mix of both, my ADHD and lack of interest in fantasy settings has completely killed my joy of RPG's - BG3 was a pleasant surprise.
