NBC stations' gruff Sears-looking black af urban 80s local news asthetic, which was devoid of colorricheness > ABC/Tribune/CBS stations' formal color-rich smugness. NBC is the one who adopted the 80s news asthetic we know. Da real shit. Proud to say then future UPN stations, while being more colorful, like WOR, later WWOR, which stomped future The WB stations in the ratings, loved the NBC station asthetic. UPN stations adopted color without the pretentious of CBS and ABC stations. While not being either one by 1987, as WWOR for instance was cutting edge, along with Fox. WB popularized this shit too. DOPE! "The Fugitive" still used the 80s local news astheti. UPN/Warner Bros./WB/Cinemax flagship FTW.

I was the Police Officer in the Accident Investigation Division who handled this accident. I stood in the tunnel watching Dr's remove the legs of a woman to free her from the wreck. The traction motor bolt fell out and was found at 19th St. The operator made it to 30th St. station safely. Instead of staying there he decided to try to get to 69th St. After he left 30th St. the accident occured. He tested pos. for drugs but never did any jail time. I believe he was fired sometime later. I also remember all of the people who were NOT on the train trying claim they were.

Omg this takes me back. Sometimes when I’d stay up late watching TV on a weekend and I’d leave the tv on as I fell asleep, I’d wake up to this theme. Or if I stayed up late enough, I’d catch a movie with this intro on broadcast television, whether I was in NY or NJ. It was still playing into the early 90s when I was a kid. Oh man, memories…..
@tilasole32522 ай бұрын
I used to live in NJ. Try watching PBS before it shut off, you might catch Poltergeist. Fall a sleep during that and wake up to the space shuttle landing and then white noise/static 😅

@@tilasole3252 omg I still remember up until maybe 1992-1993, they'd still have a lot of off the air goodnight broadcasts witht he color bars. It used to scare me cuz the sound was so constant with the color bars. One time when I was 5 I fell asleep on a friday night early I guess cuz I was tired like before 8. I woke up and it was the national anthem on my TV and at the end, it was the color bars and off the air long beep. I was so scared for some reason I shut my eyes, plugged my ears, and had to turn off my tv with my elbow so it'd stop. The lights were all off too I think it was about 2:30-3am saturday morning I was trembling before goin back to bed and pray I fell asleep fast. I was a weird kid I know. Never the static though.

We live in a completely different world now. Just look at the depth of the information coming from the news channels on these reports. Today it would be one sentence and nobody knows anything. We do not have reporters anymore as far as I can see we only have agenda pushers. RIP to those poor children killed at the school that day due to the carelessness of others. If you wanna know if your landing gear is up or down fly by a tower. Better yet install a video camera underneath your plane pointed towards the landing gear well.
