I eat potatoes and molasses every Halloween, and I would argue it tastes good

I hear “smell you later” a lot, so it is weird that is is treated like a forgotten phrase in this video

It kind sweet how Greg looks up to his older brother Wirt, the frog not getting a name till Wirt helps out :D

The religious/hymn like nature of “Potatus et Molasus” I think is definitely intentional, because the dialect of Latin used is known as ‘Church Latin’, since its only used in religious settings (Mass, old hymns, catechisms, etc). The more vernacular Latin sounds very different :)

Something i find interesting is how jason thunderberker (the human one) is built up throughout the show in such a way that hightens the viewers expectations of him, and then when we get the reveal he ends up diverting what we expect, showing how wirt views those around him in relation to himself. Its fun watching this show with friends of mine who havent seen it before and seeing their reactions when thunderberker is revealed. Truly gold.

Another interesting thing is how as the show progresses we can see the unknown slowly transition from fall to winter, not only visually but in the mood/tone of the show overall aswell!

Another interesting thing i noticed in the show was that no animal (with the acception of beatrice, presumably due to her situation) in the show speaks until they are given a name/ have their name spoken. Even on the boat with all the frogs, none of them actually speak aside from jason thunderberker

Hey, I just watched this video - I know I'm years late! The New England Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is known for many poems, most notably 'The midnight ride of Paul Revere', which is actually part of his collection 'Tales of a Wayside Inn' - with various characters sharing their poems and songs in turn - I think this is definitely an inspiration for the Episode centered on the Inn. What is more interesting is that Longfellow worked on his own translation of Dante's Divine Comedy. The Dante connection, coupled with the fact that many elements in OTGW are inspired by New England folklore and imagery, lead me to think that Longfellow was definitely an inspiration.

Hot topic was actually the reason I watched Over the Garden Wall, because I saw some Over the Garden Wall merch that I thought was cute but I thought it would be weird if I got the merch without watching the show.

OOooooh... I wonder if when the woodsman tells them to go "North" he means UP... as in out of the water. Which is why they go towards the moon to go "North."
@SuperDuckyWho2 ай бұрын
Also... since the woodsman was staying in the mill at the river that wasn't his... but we see his daughter at the end opening the door and crying when seeing him... it IS possible he never went back home, just assumed she'd been captured, and she'd been there this whole time waiting for him. Bit of a dark irony sort of twist to it... where if he'd just accepted she was gone, instead of destroying others lives in the process of avoiding facing reality (just like Wirt was doing), he would have found her.

I kind of doubt that civil war greatcoat was original, as original uniforms are very rare, since the vast majority did not survive to the present day.
