I’ve gotta respectfully disagree with the 4 Kings placement. The arena, while thematically interesting, leaves a lot to be desired. The moveset is alright, but it’s just such an annoying fight. I love skill checks. Genichiro is a great example, same with O&S. But DPS checks just kind of frustrate me. Especially when the check essentially boils down to a super difficult gank. I agree with the whole thing about Haveling it up though. Heavy armor turns a lot of bosses into a joke, and saying it only works for 4 Kings ignores a few other bosses

All i did is try and trigger nito explosions thing which annihilate all his skeleton and deal as much as possible damage. 2 to 4 repeat would be enough but extremely tedious

Not sure how many people know about this but there are two extra enemies in Gael’s Arena. There’s a Greatsword wielding Ring Knight and a lady within a church like ruin

New Londo is an interesting placement; I don't feel one way or the other about it. The Four Kings are fine in Cycle 1. It's after that where it gets dodgy (and without sorcery I wouldn't bother).

You have to keep in mind that the first few places that are god awful is because it was rushed just imagine if they had time finished these areas

Just finished the game, tomb of the giants was not that bad if you did solairs quest to keep him alive. That sunlight maggot is op for the area! The enemies range of aggro is even less then your visibility so all you have to do is charge a heavy attack as soon as they get into range and all they can do is stand and watch as you kill them..😂

The ghosts are the most annoying enemies in the game when it comes to getting uncursed

Some complaints can be avoided imo. For the poison everywhere in blighttown slowing you down, rusted ring. And for the skeleton wheels, when they jump to attack, swing and you won’t get hit and just kill them

Tomb of the giants made me start a new character because the skeletons were literally 2 shotting me constantly

I think what I love most about New Londo Ruins is that the ghosts have low enough health that you can still get all the way to Ingward very early on in the game. That's what I like about New Londo and the Catacombs. They are difficult but any player who doesn't fully get the message that they're supposed to go through undead burg first can still make decent progress in each level. I will say that I do really like Tomb of the Giants. I didn't understand that the game had light sources like lanterns so I just went in fully blind and while it was frustrating and annoying, I still found it satisfying to complete. I guess I like levels like Tomb of the Giants and Blightown because I like it when the game makes me feel uneasy. The atmosphere for ToG is perfect in my opinion. I think you were a little too unfair to the painted world of Ariamis and the Lower Undead Burg. I never had issues with the Capra demon and I liked how scary the enemies were. But I will admit that I never really thought about how good Oolacile township is. I definitely don't think it's at the level of Anor Londo or New Londo and I think the level design of Undead Parish/Burg is better but the unique enemies and atmosphere of Oolacile Township is really interesting to me and it's what justifies the existence of the DLC. Otherwise the DLC would've been cheap copy pasted areas designed only for annoyingly long boss rushes. If Dark Souls every got a next-gen remake, I'd personally love to see what they'd be able to do with Lost Izalith as well as the Valley of the Drakes. I think both of those areas has the most potential but felt the most unfinished/dated. Also crystal caves. Those three areas would benefit the most from a remake. (and I guess blighttown if you count the low fps issues).

Btw there's a second bornfire in the tomb of giants and also you can use the light spell for this area as a light source.

Sorry bro but new londo's placement makes no sense. Any time i go through it, im left frustrated and annoyed by the ghost gank building, the chimney ladder that has surprise ghosts that you cant evade damage from, and the fact that beatrice's summon sign is hidden almost nonsensically

29:10 Here's a fun fact that happened to me in Dark Souls 3 when I first played it which was also my first Soulsborne too. A friend of mine recommended me to play it so I did, we played it somewhat together and at the high wall level, I got invaded by a player and my friend died to the invader. Me and the invader fought for a good couple minutes and he stopped after and dropped a bag that contained 99 EMBER AND 99 FOR EACH SOULS. I'm not joking, the invader left and I spawned my friend back so he coule check what was in the bag. Keep in mind, this was my first Soulsborne game so I didn't know how LUCKY I was to receive that drop and my friend freaked out when he saw it and said, "BRO! YOU'RE SET FOR THE WHOLE GAME!" That's a moment I'll never forget and every time I think back on it, I can't help but laugh.

i love soulsborne ranking videos because people start it off with “i love this game/franchise” and occasionally some point about nostalgia for these masterpieces of games and then instantly jump to the worst parts about them and basically claim that those parts of it should not be accepted as one of the lord’s creations

The area design in the second half of the game kinda blow chunks compared to the first, you can see the development stress. They literally made Tomb of Giants dark so you can’t see the lack of depth

Great video as always! I'm really loving the area ranking series. Also, I find it super interesting to hear opinions that are completely different from my own. For instance, I LOVE the gutter. There are so many hidden nooks and crannies and so much to explore and lighting the sconces gives me a sense of progression that I get from few other areas. I love looking around and seeing all the flames shining through the darkness. Fun fact: If you light every single sconce, an npc invader will spawn that you can kill for a unique headpiece. I actually really enjoyed leaving the npc invaders in the area alive and just going through the level as normal while never knowing if one of the invaders could lurk behind the next corner. However, I do understand why others would not enjoy the Gutter nearly as much as I do.

I love the bound Lothric castle so damn much. This is really the place where the arena of the penultimate boss of the game is located almost above the end of the first level (high wall). When literally two elevators later you can find yourself in front of the boss arena, starting your way from the Dancer's bonfire
