Another negative point about pit bulls… at least the pits owner has sence enough to keep a muzzle on it…. But really why take an aggressive pit to the dog park anyway??? Im an avid dog lover but just wondering if pit bulls are really necessary at this point…

Not a dog lover at all and actually afraid of dogs, having been caught in a dog fight as a youngster, but this was so interesting! I love the way you stop and give explanations of, and reasons for, a particular behaviour. Very informative, thank you! When I was a kid every one of.my dozen, or so, friends had a mongrel dog that was our constant companion during our romps around the town every day, and I never remember any dog fights.

Who brings that many dogs to a dog park? And Ronan jumping the fence to confront the 2 new dogs was asking for trouble. From what I can see you were completely in the wrong here and the initial interaction outside the fence set the tone on how things would end up. Canela on the other hand is a fantastic dog but I think you were very silly to go to a park with so many dogs.

Had the same thing except the husky was mine and on his leash the aggressive dog a lab/doodle mix. The owner was on her phone and got cross because I asked her to watch her dog and that he had attacked my dog. Her answer….he never would do that!!! As I walked away the dog ran over the road across a cycle lane to continue attacking my husky. I’m glad my boy is sweet and did not react. When she finally caught up with her dog she said my husky must smell weird….. a few months later I heard her dog had to be muzzled and was not allowed off leash after seriously hurting two other dogs.

The dog behaved brilliantly this is the reason that proper socialization training is so important it's unfortunate but your dog does need to be able cope with other dogs or children intruding on their personal space and who's parents/ owners don't or can't stop them. If your dog reacts negatively to their space been intruded it will always be your and your dogs fault even if the other person allowed their pet or child to approach your dog so it's so important for dogs to be trained to handle meeting and what may even be uncomfortable situations and not react

This is why I conceal carry. Funny how quickly offleash and misbehaved owners start getting their animals leashed and under control.

Dog Parks are nothing but a place for bad things to happen. And, they may not be your fault. Not only fights but also health issues from sick dogs drinking out of common use water bowls. Why take that risk with your dog?
