I love the behaviour analysis you do. I never thought I could get binge watching this. Now that I adopted a Malinois, I can´t stop learning how they behave and how to read certain situations. It is deeper than I initially thought. Love Ronin and how calm and happy he is. I hope I can raise mine to same way. :)

We just got a new puppy, she's good at being calm. She does need work being in a room without anyone. We got her from a breeder who kept the puppies outside most of the time also they didn't have stairs so that was a new thing she learned.

Damn bro how tall are your stairs 💀also, you don’t have to put a link. Just say “google” or “nat geo” also, dogs are running around on rocks and stuff all day(unless they are stuck in your house 24/7, or at the pound.) I’m just saying, unless your dog is like 11-17, it’s fine to let ‘em run up and down the stairs. Now, super small dogs like chihuahuas, their gonna wanna stay away from tons of stairs.@@ColdestRage303

I am new to the dog world. Just started trainers classes, rescue, owner and I volunteer. However new to it all. It's so confusing because the same gesture can mean different things. How do I know when the heaf over back is to assert dominance, and when it's to invite play? Just by the situation and other body language combined with.

Is placing the head over the back not a sign of trying to dominate??
@testerwulf3357
@testerwulf3357 Жыл бұрын
Yes. Ronin did it to test where he was at in the pack, of which the dog gave a challenging stare; in the beginning-ish section. It’s a test of dominance which is followed up by challenge or submission which either de-escalates the situation or escalates it depending on reaction depending on how it’s done it can also be done to initiate play! From what I can see laying your head on the back is dominance but a quick tap and jumping back is play

@@DougHinVAlikely because most “real professional dog handlers” are complete shit. That framed paper means nothing short of someone took some classes. I don’t have said classes or paper personally but have helped dogs and succeeded where others have failed miserably. And I use cruelty free training methods as well. Not correction free, cruelty free. Like the original commenter I cannot always explain things with dogs but I feel things with them before I see them. That paper in the wall, means nothing. Regardless of what this person says, don't allow your dog to camp the gate. It's going to end badly every time. Also, if you have a bad ass dog, expect the dog to do bad ass things in the dog park. There was a 140 lb Rottweiler female that would instantly go after my American Bulldog and you would think they were fighting but they actually loved each other. I actually wish I would have seen the puppies coming out of that situation but it never happened. Other people were freaking out while both of us as dog owners were just enjoying it.

I've had german shepherds all my life and they can be real A-holes , some were more behaved then others but I always kept a close eye on them just in case . Currently I have 1 male 2 females. My boy Jaxon whos 130 lb-ish is super dominant, but once he calms down hes a teddy bear. He'll brake up fights at the dog park all the time.

There’s a few things I know and some of those I couldn’t explain either, cuz you just know some things….But I learned here today and I’m terribly excited lol…my ( grown) daughter tells people I was a puppy in my previous life.. 1 ) The head held over the back to show dominance ! Aha ,lol 2 ) the neutered male feeling the need to agress the unfixed male, relative to how many females are present… Hahahaaa just like in the bar shortly after midnight, I seem to recall… Hahahahaa But I learned those things and I’m very grateful. And excited to go to the park…

Hey I have a question to anyone willing to answer. For some reason my dog is very reserved in the greeting ritual, she is relaxed and confident sniffing other dogs but rarely lets other dogs sniff her. Doesn't matter if on leash or not, but I notice it's more prominent when we're in the city compared to the countryside. She'll make a jump and turn very quickly, really evading any attempt from other dogs to snuff her behind. Yet she doesn't seem scared or stressed. She doesn't seem to mind the hypocrisy either 😂 So... Anyone know what that's all about. Thanks in advance ❤

@@testerwulf3357 thanks for sharing this about your dog. I saw a short vid about a dog named Whiskey where the owner deduced it was also about the other dog's pushy behaviour, as she read that Whiskey was signaling a need for space and patience to the other dog. I never pushed my dog or forced her to be more social, since there's no real life benefit to it. Most I've done is encouraged her a bit but as soon as she backs away or gives me 'that look', I let her guard her boundaries. I was just curious to know more about it, and if it was something that needed change or not. It's so enriching to keep learning about this, my understanding of animals and humans has changed so much since I adopted one! ✨

exactly my point. Dog parks are for people not dogs. Why subject your dog to such abuse? Don't you love your dog? Muzzling your dog is like putting a 6th grader in a school yard full of bullies with handcuffs on. Your muzzled dog will never be the same in a dog park again. terrorized and defenseless is all she will remember when she goes to a dog park in the future. She will bite first and ask questions later in order to defend herself unless she is a submissive dog that will let other dogs walk all over her but it doesnt sound like that kind of dog.

Just subscribed you do an awesome job breaking everything down. Ruining is such a sweetheart honestly really really well bred Malinois because I've seen a lot of nervy neurotic ones unfortunately. And that black working line GSD is gorgeous. And that German Shepherds are the working lines

Interesting video on analyzing dog behavior. I would have liked to have seen how my dad's GS of 50 years ago would have behaved under those multiple dog encounters. I suspect that black GSD towards the end of the video and dad's Zarek would have had a major show down with Zarek totally dominating him. He was a big Alpha male who occasionally caused problems for dad due to his propensity for getting into fights with other dogs......which he would win. Best family dog ever......

I have a 100 lb. black GSD mix and it was so cool watching them playing together and the body language. Mine looks like a black wolf and he pretty alpha most of the time, but does get put in his place on occasion. And you can tell which way it's going to go by the way the other dog holds itself. So fascinating.

If you have a dog that is King Dick, there is no stopping it. That's the way dogs do it. Who is the boss ? do you destroy a dogs natural instincts ? I didn't stop it with my boy, but he stopped fights by showing he is King Dick.

Dope, you're talking to a GSD owner... GSDs are dominant, you're the one with the puny dog, look in the mirror when you say that.@@malidawgz5690
