I need this quality of video to walk me through replacing the twin turbo inlet hose, I got a silicone one to put into my 02 rev D. I'm scared of messing up or forgetting something this definitely helped my confidence for removing the intercooler though!

If ya can wait a month or two, I’ve filmed a vid on how to remove the manifold on an ‘02 Rev-D. It’s a few spots down the video queue though.

@SubieSpecs I unfortunately can't wait, I'm going to pull off the intercooler today and evaluate my next step from there. I've already removed intake and airbox. I got to get it up and running quickly now that I have a new inlet. I don't have a garage, and we already have snow in the forecast for next week :/ I will be sure to watch your video when you do post it. Then I can see what I did wrong, aha!

Yup, on SL-i.net, it should help. One thing you should do is order the crank case breather stand off, and F-pipe tee piece, for the PCV system. These will brake. Also be mindful of, and don’t snap the nipples off your evap solenoid. Those are the big two common mishaps.
@BO0O0O0O0O0O01

@SubieSpecs I'll see if the shop I use to let deal with the car can order those parts for me! I'll need to buy a new intake manifold gasket anyhow! Thanks for the heads up, I was told that it was pretty inevitable that some pvc was going to break once I got in there. I wasn't sure what, though. Any idea what fittings I'll need to get for the new silicone inlet? I was told by someone that the factory ones couldn't be reused as they're formed as one with the oem inlet.

Headgaskets and intake gaskets aside it actually doesn't look too crusty, proper carnage from the headgasket failure though. I love how many headbolts there are, imagne how much boost it could hold with and MLS gasket!

The EA cars, and especially the EA82 engine, didn't get a lot of love aftermarket. Most people prefer just to EJ swap these. It's not just the engine, though: basically any suspension part is NLA, especially if you keep the air suspension (this car looks like it did have it but was converted to standard struts at some point). I have an RX/II coupe (just the RX in the States), an XT6, a BRAT, and formerly an XT Turbo, so I'm familiar with the pain of trying to keep these things on the road after >30 years.

I got under mine today, its a 2015 crosstrek with electronic steering, found that if I push on one wheel at 9-3 o'clock, it will wiggle like bad tie rods, however the opposite wheel also will wiggle at the same time. Hoping it's just a bushing holding the steering rack but i'm afraid the whole rack is bad. Seems the rack should lock and have no play when the vehicle is off.
@SubieSpecs
@SubieSpecs Жыл бұрын
What you are looking for when looking for play in the rack mounting, is not for movement in the wheels, there will always be some movement with the wheels themselves against the steering lock. What you are looking for is movement of the rack itself, relative to the subframe. Those late model racks have a superior mounting setup to the old rack in the vid, and actual play in the rack mounting on them is very rare compared. When looking for play in the tie rods, you’re going by feel, and listening for the little tick tick of it’s play, it’s not a visual inspection for them. It takes some time to master these inspections, the cues can be very very subtle! Hope this helps.

hello, maybe you can help me with my project. I am the happy owner of legacy gtb ej20H1997 Japanese imports. I fulfilled my childhood dream, but after renovating the engine and the entire suspension, etc. after 2000 kilometers, the 9H ecu burned out and I decided to install the emu master black. but i can't find the pinout anywhere. do you have any schematics?
@SubieSpecs
@SubieSpecs Жыл бұрын
I suggest you join the 2ng gen legacy enthusiasts facebook page, and the SL-i.net forums. I frequent them and upload all the data I have. I presume that because you said EJ20H and GTB that it is a facelift auto. In which case you are out of luck, I do not yet have wiring information on the “1-plug” ECU’s auto facelifts have.

I bought mine from the local snap-on truck. Bout $100 for one, but honestly worth it. If you want a snap-on one, google your local truck, give him a bell, and find out his routine. Local guy to me is Invercargill based and comes up to qtown fortnightly. Other manufacturers do make very similar sockets, koken is the Japanese version of snap-on, hobeca trading sell them, they supply repco’s, so you can go that way. Otherwise teng tools might be a good intermediate brand.

Have a 2000 legacy gt and mann did this help. Ran into a little bit of an issue reinstalling the intercooler and ended up mangling the plastic oem hoses from the turbos.. thats okay though, i just bought a 1999 legacy gtb e tune as a parts car, and i plan on swapping the intercoolers and tubing (next time one of the many coolant lines spring a pinhole leak and i have to tear everything apart) Lol atleast i am a little wiser this time around. It is currently winter, and i wont be driving the car for a few more weeks, any info on weither an aftermarket silicone hose in place of said hoses is a good idea? Where if anywhere could i find a pair? I can barely find anything about these cars specifically on the web. :( Any info helps, thanks and have a great day!

Yeah these cars are rare af to find parts, you'll just have to diy with some hoses and do some measurements. I had a boost leak in primary hose and intercooler itself so i just replaced whole thing for like 350$ But it works awesome now so it was worth

I’ve had the debate about what causes the gold then brown then black staining. I’m convinced it’s old oil with long service intervals that does it, as the oil brakes down and collects more carbon and crap, thats when it starts depositing it on the inside surfaces.
