Hi, just picked up an old mower that has this engine on it just wondering if it is worth restoring. Has little spark Needs fuel tank, air cleaner and exhaust. Don't think it has much compression... Thoughts

Gday Nathan. Yeah tough question. Does the mower have a sentimental connection? if so go for it. I got this engine for next to nothing and really only spent time on it, not money. if your engine needs big bucks to get it going forget it they aren't worth it. Most of the motors I get are salvageable and will go without a lot spent. It really depends on what you want. Hope this helps.

Gday Mario. Thanks for the comment. Mate with these motors I only rebuild what's there. In other words if the motor needs a new piston the engine will be used for parts. If the parts are serviceable then I will try to get it going. These are not worth spending the money on unless it is for a specific project. You could try looking up parts from the USA. Regards from OZ.

Hi Big Fella. Thanks for the reply. I had a lot of fun on the CZ. Back then I fitted a reed valve out of a chainsaw to it Feeding straight into the crankcase. After restoring it i want to develope the motor more to see how much power I can get out of it. Cheers.

Hi Big Fella. I still have some brand new parts for these old Victa mowers. Even a new cylinder the same as on that mower. I also have some second hand parts like old carbies and bits and pieces. I have an early model Victa in storage waiting for me to do a bit of restoration. These two great vidios have given me a bit of inspiration to get started, as soon as I have finished restoring a seventy four year old CZ motor bike that I used to race back n the sixties

Gday Sam. WOW a CZ, it must be about the last one in OZ. I remember there was a few around back min the 70's. Parts must be getting hard to find for these old mowers and I was lucky that what was there was still serviceable. The guy who owns it was happy with the result. Thanks for the comment Sam and good luck with the projects.

Gday Shayne. Firstly can I say well done for showing an interest in these old mowers. They are part of history and Australian culture and its great that a guy your age is doing restorations on these or any old machine for that matter. Don't let anyone discourage you! Mate I can't do another video as this mower was never mine to begin with, I was merely doing it up for a friend. If I understaned you correctly are you referring to the central nut on the blade holding disc, if so these are held on by a Nylock nut and they will be tight nearly all the way when you undo them. An impact gun helps to make this easy but be sure to disconnect the spark plug as it may start if its rotated. The nuts that hold the blades are similar so its easier just to cut them as you get new ones with the blades. I hope this helps if not let me know. Keep up the good work.

A lot of old tractors had "petro kero" engines too. Start on petrol, once warmed up switch over to "power" kerosene. Power Kero is no longer commercially available so running on only petrol only is the only way to go.😅

Gday Neil how are ya man? Happy new year and I hope all is cool. Hate to shoot you down old mate but this one is a UK build. There are some differences to the Aussie ones. I got it of a local farmer who said it powered some sort of machine for hay. She went first shot after a fix up and then I stopped it to fix a fuel leak and now it won't go. I've ordered a new coil from the UK. Take care mate.

The point is not to paint a tractor to make it look nice, but to apply a color to protect the irons from water and dust, but at the same time this color must breathe and dissipate the heat as easily as possible so that the irons do not get tired from continuous work both on the tractor chassis and on the engine body

Looking forward to your next tea20 vid, working on a couple as farm runabouts no paint mind, love your colour scheme. You mentioned a bitumous type paint you used on the tea20 what brand was that? Wa it a bunnings job? , thanks again

Gday Pete. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah those Villiers engines seem to show up everywhere. The bitumous paint you refer too actually came from Supercheap. It's just an underbody paint in a can that is located in the spray can section and I think you can buy the applicator gun from them as well or it can be painted on. Hope this helps Pete. Take care.

Yes you re right, safety is important, I traded the Tea and a Super Major with 6 m construction lift for a MF 35 X, so no money between him and me, the tires came with the newpainted tractor, actually don t think there would be space enough if the tires were new, not space enough now for fingers to have a grip on the edge of the mudguards when driving, so guess old habit stopped, must be spring there as it is autumn here, the usual habit of the earth tilting away from sun after 20. of june these parts, take care, enjoy.

The Wico magneto stop buttons. Put a larger insulating washer over the stud, push the stud through from the inside and then place the 3x insulation rings into the oversize hole from the outside. The last ring stands just proud and then the button sits over this last ring. A second larger flat insulating washer in next then a smaller metal washer then the nut. Bend the stop tab back over the assembled stud leving a gap. Never leave the coil and bar off the top of the magnet and case for more then a moment as this acts a magnet keeper to ensure a good healthy spark. The magnets can be recharged.
