ok now take all this you said and apply it to call center tech support with minimal tools of information, no training really ahead of time (literally 30 minutes sometimes), high expectations on every call and any call can cost you your job. Makes silly projects seem like a damn vacation.

My manager likes to humiliate me sadistically in front of colleagues. Tons of favoritism and condescension when you ask for help. It's genuinely tiring and makes me not want to come to work. This place sucks.

Since this is a company with a history of unethical/illegal practices, these statistics really aren't surprising.

Mom comment here…Chicago is cleaner and friendlier than NYC. Buildings are nicer and your dollar goes farther. It’s easy to dine at high end restaurants and not feel like you just emptied your wallet. Miss the midwestern charm. Wishing my son the best in NYC but my heart is in Chicago.

Chicago isn't terribly cold, at least not for long periods. I find the winters to be pretty mild, or, at least, bearable, compared to legend of those who don't live in Chicago. I hardly wore an overcoat during the winter. I walk one mile to work.

Hinge absolutely sucks. The algorithm is designed to keep you away from your best matches so you spend more more time on the app and spend more more of your money on their service. If you wanna meet somebody, get out in your community be socially active. Your chances are so much better finding tricks, dates, and even a long-term partner

Honestly, I needed this to a fault and because I'm Christian and have been dealing with anxiety from a job I've had for years and I feel like the more in there the higher my anxiety gets and the more I feel like I've had my self-worth and personal life stripped away from me, tarnished, and invaded on a constant basis. No matter what I do there, it only gets worse the more I work there and I constantly find myself contemplating on it being fueled with more anxiety and always messing up all the time on things I used to find easy. Honestly my faith has been something that I've always been mocked about at my job over, even by other Christians. No matter what I've done at my job that's good I've always been dismantled and put down, so I've stopped caring as a Christian and I stopped caring about my job not wanting excel because it was a job I was staying to think I didn't want anymore, now my current boss sees it and is disappointed in it I feel like all the good that was in me was sucked dry at my job and I'm now at a point where finding a new one is the best option.

Eh, Chicago has the same weather as all of the upper Midwest. It’s generally warmer than Minneapolis or Milwaukee or Detroit. I don’t get why there’s such a focus on how bad the winters are here. We don’t get a lot of snow and other than the occasional polar vortex it’s really quite comparable to other cities at this latitude IMO.

Wrong and right corporate/commerce banking makes high pay with good work-life balance easier to do not investment LVL, but that work-life balance make it worth it another one is sales and trading more pay more stable by far and better work-life balance with similar or a little more barrier to entry HOWEVER the work is 100% harder than those PowerPoint monkeys basically s&t= less volume more intensity ib=more volume less intense and their exit opps are similar(s&t has better opportunities for portfolio management/hedge fund manager and just better chances at being at a hedge fund however ibs have more of a chance of working in private equity

Hinge is depressing. You can put 1 hour into each personalized message, message 10 people, and get 0 responses. The women will not even read your message let alone reply. Its like stepping into a room with 3 girls and 15 guys, 5 guys are screaming at each girl. Your best chance of dating is joining a group of guys and also scream into the void.

I think there are cons to any role. I work in Commercial Banking / Underwriting and I work 40-50 hours a week and have a pretty decent work-life balance. But also I have aspirations to do something more prestigious/ get more pay, still with work life balance but like you said, there is no “perfect” finance job.

Hey Brian, I watched your “are you too old for investment banking” video that you posted 3 years ago, it was very informative. However; I’m an immigrant that is living in Los Angeles and still kind of confused by the whole freshman, junior, sophomore, senior system. I’m 29 years old and have been taking classes here and there over the years, I’m two classes away from completing all of my general education classes and I was planning to start taking some prerequisites for finance so then I can transfer to a prestigious university. In this situation, am I a freshman, junior, sophomore, or senior? In my circumstances, am I too old for finance in this case?

I don't think apps destroy healthier or traditional values of dating, I think our environment (lack of 3rd spaces etc.) makes it harder to find connections organically, and apps feel like some of the only alternatives. This lack of better, more effective choices seems like much more the issue. aka: you can't really blame the apps for these problems b/c they didn't create them

In Chicago- you can afford rent. In NYC- can barely afford rent and cost of living is outrageously high.

I disagree. Platinum relationship managers at Etrade only work 40 hours a week and its basically just customer service. No math, no quant. Just white glove customer service. And getting sales referrals to the FAs. Top performers are making 200k+ and after a year or two one can become a senior relationship manager (what was private client) and top performers can make 400k a year. I don't know. That seems pretty good for just white glove customer service, that is not above 40 hours a week and is not technical in the least.
